Chad Smith was not wrong when he said this song started out as a bad reggae/ska song. Interesting to hear the song's evolution but I'm glad they reworked it to its final version.

I think the videogame is more like a coincidence. To me, John grabbed inspiration from "Pas de vie sans haine"

Why are people saying it sounds good? First off Anthony's vocals are off-key, it sounds terrible lol. It's not raw at all, it's rough more than anything. The song sounds very disorganized and as it doesn't know exactly what it is. The final product of Californication is definitely superior. John's guitar playing is good of course, he's John. Same goes for the rest of the band. But overall, this version is terrible. This is also just my opinion though. Only thing thats pure fact is from a musical standpoint, Anthony is irrefutably off-key along with other issues with the track. There's a reason it's a demo though so it's not worth mentioning.
