Gunvolt's bosses are definitely up there as some of the best bosses in a 2D platformer & GV2 really develops Copen more into a more fleshed out character. When I replay GV2 I usually go back to the runner mode. I agree with you on the longevity on short games especially since I can find it easier playing a short yet fun game multiple times than an open world game that has 50+ hours.
the runner modes are really nice, though i tend to go for the story mode most of the time to get some upgrades and growth like that, while skipping cutscenes and turning off in-stage dialogue. either way though i always have a blast, i LOVE this game
This is one of my favorite games of all time and I never would have tried it without watching your first review of it. So thanks!

Gunvolt 2 is by far my favorite Gunvolt game, and is what made the series one of my favorites. Its just so much fun and has a pretty entertaining story too. I bought it on the 3DS then replayed it on the switch striker pack which was 100% worth double dipping. The DLC makes 2 even better by giving you runner mode which allows you to play any stage with either character, it even lets you refight the bosses from 1 with GV and Copen. If Gunvolt 3 is just as good as 2 I'll be extremely happy.
Love ASG2. The final boss was SUPER memorable. I'm just bummed that they never official released the dual version of Indigo Destiny.
Nobody plays these games for the story but the final conflict blew me away, reminding me a lot of Nier Replicant's, and that more than anything made GV2 stick with me.

Honey, these games do not feel like Classic nor X. If you go in expecting it to feel like those games, you might be in for a surprise BUT STILL TRY THEM! :D

So what you're saying is that the best way to avoid having an uncomfortably revealing loli pop up on screen to bring you back to life is to get good and to be a lone wolf? Thank the heavens! Honestly, that was like the one thing holding me back from picking this game up. I could even endure having J-pop interjecting during a high score count (and J-pop's absolutely not for me). Going through the Mega Man X and Zero collections makes me realize how much I dig this gameplay style. And Copen's character design is just perfection.
The first Gunvolt game I bought is Gunvolt Luminous iX. I bought iX because I like EX skills in there especially Orbital Edge. Still, cant wait to try this game before Gunvolt 3.
definitely try out 1 and 2 beforehand, they're great! especially this one

4:59 Yeah, there's still a few more days before Gunvolt 3.
So, I just finished GV2 on Steam and I gotta vent some issues with Gunvolt's final stage - so first, if you unplug your headphones during the final stage, your game will softlock itself after beating any of the boss rush fights, forcing you to restart the stage. And second, no matter whether you actually have a mic plugged in or not, the game will randomly choose to make you fight the karaoke version of the final phase of the boss, which... yeah. That can be a problem. Fun.
Great game aside from that, but going over the first two games as a first-timer, I gotta say, I think the (true) ending stages have _a_ _lot_ of problems. The Asimov fight was some of the least fun boss design I've seen in ages and the technical issues in this sequel? Rough. Also really wish they didn't force you to grind the levels so much for arbitrary reasons.
Copen's fun as hell though, looking forward to replaying iX.
Somehow this is the weakest game so far for me. I like GV1 and iX a lot more. Maybe it's because the stages are split between the characters. I felt like it was not giving much variety despite the stages definitely having their own identity. The other two games and iX2 have a lot of variety due to sheer quantity. Which makes me really freaking weird but that made GV2 the weakest for me
ix2 definitely has a lot going in the variety department, since copen's a lot more grounded in that game. but i felt the variety kinda started here, i'm surprised to hear anyone feel otherwise - valid tho! stages like the ice city, sewers, and the final two before the boss rush really felt like they put my platforming skills to the test, and the bonus levels in runner mode even more so
I like them all I just came for the story but I need to play it.

yeah these games are great! pretty tough so maybe not for everyone but worth a shot
Obviously I don't like Gunvolt 2 nearly as much as you but I have to agree that it improves on pretty much EVERYTHING the first game sets out to do and those types of sequels are the fucking best

Gunvolt is piss easy unless you're going for a high score. That's one major issue with the series.
Funny that you say that you should mention that you should play gunvolt 2 at least 2 times cause I beat the game them immediately did a speedrun attempt
God I fricking love gunvolt 2 from everything to the music to the gameplay I honestly never got to use any of copen's stuff as I never got the materials but that's OK I originally played gunvolt 2 with a slightly broken controller though it only affected me while playing as Copen
Though I must say this game changed my opinion on Copen, he went from a really good character to my favorite character in almost all media
Even if they gave me a real challenge I loved the score attack especially the ex stages as it was a really good challenge though I have yet to beat ex frozen city and that's fine I have almost beaten it as Copen
But honestly I see what you mean by prevasion makes the game a bit too easy as I played the game and only died as gv when the game made me die during the start of the boss rush
and Copen don't even get me started on him his prevasion is just a bit too powerful you can literally reload block an entire enemy skill cause mostly cause I wanted to hear almost all the songs I played on gutless the first time and they are all too good I love that the singer is different depending on whether your playing as gunvolt or Copen
Overall the game is too good I completely understand the reason why you called it perfect
I loved all of the bosses I think the final boss both fights are really good its the reason why I keep playing ex frozen city

I beat the first game and it left absolutely no impact on me I felt like I hadn’t played any game st all. Maybe I was doing something wrong? Wtf is prevasion and reincarnation I don’t think it was ever explained
hey it might just not have been your thing! i really recommend giving this game a shot if you ever have the chance though, it just improves on literally everything
I'm pretty nervous for you to review iX 2 since it's my favorite game in the series, but I enjoyed this video! Gunvolt isn't my favorite series, nor does it deserve to be compared to the likes of Mega Man (imo ofc), but I still enjoyed my runs through it. Just hope that eventually Inti drops the horrible Kudos system and makes a Gunvolt game that is actually challenging to beat and fun to replay.
i think the kudos system should stay for the sake of those who prefer to score attack, as it's pretty harmless for those who don't care and i don't think it actively takes away from the core experience and enjoyment. as for reviewing ix2, i'm still working on it and wasn't planning on doing it this season but imma try to get to it relatively quickly. i've gotten a lot of footage from it and played it a few times through, i really wanna get my thoughts on it out there because i have a lot to say. hope you stick around for when the video eventually comes out!
@@ZaffreRevolution My issue with the Kudos system is that it doesn't judge you based on how good you are at the game. The way you get points, especially as Copen, feels counterintuitive. Platforming is non existent since you have to keep your feet from touching the ground at almost all times. I love score attacking in games, so the Kudos system just ruins any replay value for me.
I'll definitely stick around for the iX 2 video. Hopefully you at least find something enjoyable about it as the fanbase as a whole seems to hate it. 🤣
