    Thank you so much for your video. I have a fluance R85 and had lost channels back and forth at times. I took off the stylus cleaned off the ends and reattached and I now have sound both channels again. :)

    Thanks for this video. It enabled me to use my multi-meter to isolate a right channel short to a bad cartridge. I was setting up an older turntable for my grandson, and could not figure out why the right channel was not working. I have little electronics repair experience and was about ready to take this TT into a repair shop, and likely pay more than what it is worth; but your video demonstrated a common sense approach I used, leading to a successful replacement of a bad cartridge. My grandson is happy with his new "old school" stereo! Thanks again!

      Some issue with a Technics sl-b3, sound only through one channel. Followed same steps from cartridge to rca connectors to find that there was current all along the cables. So, alcohol on cartridge connector, pencil eraser in the inside, connect to receiver and voila! Sound in stereo as new! Thank you so much for your tutorial.

    Thank you so much. I cleaned the cartridge and arm contacts with isopropyl and both channels work perfectly. You are awesome.

    Thank you so much for this video. I had the same problem with my Taya DP-510. I did not have a multimeter, so I just tried the fix that worked for you - and that was it. :D

    Thank you very much this was very helpful, my stanton turntable had the same problem, I tried every single thing you put in and it didn't work, but then I sanded down the rca terminals and it finally worked.

    Brilliant - simple but effective - I have a Dual 5000 with a similar problem - I now know exactly what I am looking for. Your work makes RUclips a better and more useful place. Many thanks.

    I love your videos and I was surprised to see you using a powerful solvent on rubber

      I was thinking the exact same thing. You don't want to use any kind of "belt dressing" either. The Acetone will dry out the rubber and the belt dressing will turn it into mush over time. I'd use a good dish detergent in a slightly high concentration to get the dirt off my belts. You could even safely "soak" them in a warm water/detergent mix for 5 minutes or so, then do the wiping exerciser. The rubber mats done the same way and they come out looking brand new.
      I was surprised to see that he didn't at least put a drop of oil on the spindle. That should have been cleaned with the acetone, just like the platter drive pulley diameter. The eraser cleaning is always a good fix, works on computer electronics like pin edges of memory and cards.

    Bit of headlight restoration cleaner and some elbow grease will take care of that hood ;-)
    Always wondered why the tone arm return in the pioneer's wobbles it's way back to the stand, interested in what drives it underneath.

    I have a Pioneer VSX-321 and it doesn't have sound on central and sw channel (speakers are fine, tested). I left it in a box for 3 years and it was working fine at that point. What do you think the problem could be?

  • @delvxe

    Great video. I used it to determine that I have a short in the right channel (ohm meter on the rca cable and ground). This wasn’t your problem so didn’t go into how to diagnose or solve this problem. Any guidance you can provide me?

    • @norcal715
      @norcal715  3 года назад

      Check the muting switch, disconnect the cables at the junction point and see if the short is in the cable or the turntable.

      @@norcal715 thanks for the reply. I found it was in the cartridge. I thought I tested correctly, but apparently not.

    I have 1967 Magnavox console turntable and unfortunately the repair guy just installed a new cartridge and a needle and now I only hear sound from the right speaker. Any idea what it could be?

    Acetone doesn’t hurt the rubber belt? What’s a good oil to use for the motor. Thanks

    • @norcal715
      @norcal715  5 лет назад +1

      A lightweight machine oil. Get a zoomspout from a local appliance repair store. It has a very lightweight oil good for most small motors

    what if my cartridge marks .640 komhs on both sides? its broken?

    • @norcal715
      @norcal715  2 года назад

      .640 K ohms is the same as 640 ohms, If both sides (right and left) are 640 ohms then it is a good cartridge
