It was a great pleasure in amongst my canal cruising this autumn to welcome, all the way from Canada, the RV Geeks onto my boat. Peter and John were enjoying a vacation in England, touring in a rented motorhome, and stopped off at Grove Lock Marina campsite just a couple of locks up from where I'd moored the boat the night before.
They joined me for a day to experience narrowboat cruising, even taking the tiller and steering the boat as we did a circular route up into Leighton Buzzard, back south for 3/4 locks, and returning to Grove lock at the end of the day.

It was a great pleasure to welcome the RV Geeks onto my boat! See their channel (and their vlog of this day) at ruclips.net/user/RVGeeks
CruisingTheCut Our day on the canals with you was the highlight of our trip to England, David. Can’t thank you enough for the hospitality.
Love the new ones. Cheers mate. Have a good xmas if there is no more vlogs.
@@RVgeeks I will sub to your channel aswell. Nice guys.
Loved the sentiments the RV Geeks expressed, I felt the same way every single day of my first season on the canals (with many more to come). As a fellow Canuck, it was also nice that I could understand every word. :-)
It was a great pleasure watching you welcome the RVGeeks onto your boat and completely selling them on narrowboating. We could see they already liked the idea and pretty much understood the mechanics of it all, but when it came to actually experiencing it, they were utterly enchanted. What nice blokes. They need to come back for a couple of weeks and do, say, the Four Counties Ring - which, as you know, is narrowboating personified. Thank you for being a great vlog host and ambassador to 'visiting firemen'.
Now we're watching again... it's like being back on the boat with you, David! Surely the highlight of our trip. Thank you so much.
And I'm only 20 minutes late getting it online ;-) !! Oops.
@@CruisingTheCut Doesn't 240 volt power take twice as long to move through the cord as 120? That's it! 😂
It was a pleasure to see you guys enjoying yourselves.
Greetings from Thailand!
Thanks to all of you for the collaboration, great Saturday morning surprise for me.
So I realize this is an old video but here is something to consider, a narrow Boat still is a recreational vehicle, it’s just that the only wheel on board is gonna be made of cheese
David, all your videos are enjoyable. It was pleasant to see YOU smile more in this episode. 😊
You looked after our Canadian cousins real well You made me feel proud of you many thanks David Take good care and stay lucky
As a result of this channel which we have watched so often, we have just returned to Namibia +(June 24) after having spent 4 days on a narrowboat, from Weedon-bec to Milton Keynes and back. We can absolutely agree with the sentiments of the Geeks. Thank you David! The experience was exactly what we expected and so much more!!!!
Fantastic! So pleased you had a great time!
OMG!!! Like two kids in a candy shop. You could tell it was genuine pleasure on their face. You sure made the day for them. Great vlog again.
Always a joy to see the stars of my most favorite RUclips channels together in one video. :)
These guys get around. They assisted the Wynn’s thru the Panama Canal aboard s/v Curiosity.
That puny little Panama Canal was just a warm-up! 😁
Kudos to you for keeping a straight face when he said "The camera adds 10 inches". :-)
Yes, was thinking this was moving into nsfw territory.
Imagine if america had canals snaking back and forth coast to coast! heavenly.
Try the Erie Canal, or Stretch it and go on the Intercoastal Waterway, and if you want REAL locks go to Kingston Canada and take the Rideau Canal...
@@MS-gr2nv Seattle Washington has a place where there are locks. If you're on the west coast USA, you should visit.
Both your Ca Friends share your love of peaceful, effortless and carefree travel - as you do. Good to see grown men acting like excited teenagers.
What delightful guests! Their "new guy" perspective makes them the perfect commentators. Easily my favorite episode so far!
"It is the crack of dawn by which I mean eight o clock" I didn't even think you were being facetious I was like yep that checks out that is indeed horrendously early in the morning
5:30 david you seem absolutely ecstatic with these guys. be gone with you stoicism. nice carry on
I couldn’t possibly put it better. Smashing.
Looks like John and Peter would take to Canal boating like Ducks to water! It was nice to see their enthusiasm and friendly manner - thanks for posting CTC.
Life can't get any better than that. Smiles all around, friendship, nothing better or simpler!
You are so right, Tom! David is the most gracious host ever, and our smiles were so genuine. We had an absolute blast.
2 youtube channels that I watch that are on opposite ends of the earth, and they meet for a Vlog. Nice!
How surreal that two of the channels we subscribe to came together in the English countryside. And what a wonderful and warm video experience this was - you could feel the warmth and joy of everyone, Wonderful Video.
As someone in my youth who has holiday'd (vacationed ) on the canals 4 years in a row in my youth I could feel the appreciation of the Geeks sense of relaxed calm that comes over you when you meander down the cut. Who needs medication when the canal is the biggest relaxant the is going.
Wow, you sound just like a TV reporter when you're "interviewing" your guests. Wonder where you get that 😜
It's great to see newbies enjoying narrowboating as much as the rest of us do.
How do we give more than just 1 thumbs up? How very nice of you David.
Your video format of describing the details of canal boating is great. It might be fun if you add just a few interesting minutes of interviewing people, boats and businesses you cross paths with along the way.
I do, occasionally, as and when I meet people I want to interview who are willing to be on camera.
I agree exploring England by boat at a pace that allows one to actually see and interact with the world around you is a better way to experience the world. In a car you can see the world at 60 mph, but the driver has to spend more than half that time staring at the Highway or motorway. In a car you interact with the road not the world.
My uncle Gary rode a bicycle from Central Washington to Minnesota while my aunt drove from town to town waiting for him. Interesting honeymoon.
On the other hand, several members of my family bought RVs only not to use them. A couple members of my family lived in campers and one trailer for a short time to avoid living with family or to rent out their regular house. I will check out the RV Geeks. I would love a camper-van for my RUclips travels because I could use a break room or mobile office on wheels.
Pleased that the RV Geeks enjoyed the experience. They are brave men steering into those locks.
I have been watching the RV Geeks long before I found your vlog. So it was a happy coincidence. Notice the Canadian is happy in just a tshirt while the host is in a jacket.
I'm just the same.
That bridge in the last vlog, was just beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with me. I really appreciate it.
9:48 "and a look of hilariously grim concentration" nothing that holds a candle to your own first ventures! Oh how the turntables....
Great video David, and Canadians are always so polite and appreciative in my experience.
What a nice pair of guests there. Positive, friendly and open.
Wow, those RV geeks get around! Sailing with the Wynns and now narrow boating with you! Living large!
Hi David, well if that doesn’t bring more Canadians 🇨🇦🇨🇦 over to the UK 🇬🇧 to try Cruising The Cut I don’t know what will. What true gentlemen they are and they really took to driving the boat like ‘ducks to water’. Thank you 😊 for the vlog, see you next time👋👋
Well, I'm one Canadian that would be thrilled to death to have a go at that!
I got to visit England twice in my lifetime. Once in 2005, and again in 2016. :)
How fun! So nice to see you having such a good time! In all the videos I have watched, I don't think I've ever see you smile with such abandon. Nice smile, too!
This is the most wholesome video I've ever had the privilege of viewing.
It's always exciting when two of my favorite RUclips channels collaborate. I've been a fan of the RV Geeks for ages.
Oh I so enjoy the RV geeks, they have such a zest for life! 2 of my fav YT channels come together.
Perfect! I have followed the Geeks for a while as I live in a USA built RV here in the UK and I need all the hints and tips I can get. Looking forward to their VLOG soon.
Now off to check them out, what a fun video this was.
Really liked the video and your personality . Nice to slow things down to 2.5 mph and take in what we are missing at our high speed life. We live in Oregon and fish and boat a lot and are jealous of your 2000 miles of waterways. It looks like there are hiking trails also, what a bonus plus we see a pub or two along the water. We have subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching your videos. Happy Trails and Cheers..Jeff and Liz Bend Oregon.
Thank you :-)
The canals in GB will fill with new narrowboaters in the next years, I believe. At least speaking for myself, your VLOG creates an incredible urge to live on a boat ;)
It seems already that new narrowboat vlogs crop up on an almost daily or weekly basis as it is.
I had never heard of narrowboating and now thanks to the RV Geeks, I am a subscriber here, can't wait to learn more about it.
So happy to hear you've joined us here on David's channel. But beware.... he will slowly but surely turn you into a narrowboat aficionado, and you could get hooked, like us! 😃
Absolutely blinding video David, as always I am totally riveted to your Vlogs !! What really struck me was how your guests really loved being aboard and had been convinced of an alternative way of living !! I am really hoping next year to sell my place and get a boat , but I am still unsure on how to balance any job and being a continuous cruiser , as marina fees are high ! Well done anyway !!
Great episode David, I think you sold the Geeks on a new lifestyle !
Being a Brit who lived in BC for almost 16 years you can always tell a Canuck abroad by their Tilly hats!! :) I used to go in the Tilly store in Vancouver a lot, great kit!
Awesome video. So glad they enjoyed it! Brave though David for letting them aboard!
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Dan! 😝😂
Just enjoyed watching them enjoy it so much, like two old pros, and of course seeing your pleasure sharing your (very) narrow boat. Am always amazed myself when I see only one gate open and can't believe the boat is that narrow!
I saw these lovely gentlemen on Gone With The Wynns.
This was delightful to watch! The smiles on all three of you, made me smile, too! Now over to the RV geeks to enjoy their take on the day!
I see you listen to "Queen", "Another One Bites the Dust", great taste in music.
A great video, marvellous resolution and sound. Cheers AJ
Your a great teacher. Those fellows looked like they have a wonderful day on the canal. What a great experience for them. It makes me smile they had a fun time. And I believe you had a great time letting them open & do a bit of driving for you.
Just to bad they can't set in a coroner or stored some where out of the way then bring them out to help you travel down the water way... lol... Like little robot helpers. Maybe in the future you can have a set of them.. haha!
Enjoyed the video & it was nice meeting them. I'm now going to go watch there version of the narrowboat experience.
Chris from Missouri
I'm love the fact they are so surprised by how narrow the 'narrow boat' is 😁. I had a marina neighbour many years ago once describe it as living on a floating pencil!
Hello David what a pair of proper chap's the geeks are top vid top vid.
You are always guaranteed an early start, if you moor next to a working next to a working farm. I believe that's quite an understatement.
Really enjoyed the cross over David. Have never seen the RVGeeks but will definitely look up their channel. Thank you so much for the video and have a good week ahead.
That was the most nervous smile I've ever seen. Another great video.
Hello David what a lovely ep that was, it's so nice to see people having a really good time. The dream of my own boat has not died yet.
Ha! dude, you're like the Paul McCartney of narrow boating! It's like:
1. Paul shows up; you show up.
2. Paul brings his guitar; you bring your boat.
3. Paul does his thing, plays and sings; you do your thing, take people for a cruise, let them steer a bit.
4. With Paul, everyone leaves happy; with you, everyone leaves happy!
Yep, pretty cool.
- Paul, USA
That was good fun , thank you!
As a long time viewer of The RV Geeks and a more recent viewer of yours all I can say is, "jolly good show". No doubt Peter and John are hooked.
Hi Iggy! Great to see you here. too. We are indeed hooked.... like big fish! 😃
Love these guys! Learnt how to install a Webasto heater watching there Gig. Great, clear instructions. Good work Peeps...
The smiles say it all bro and a great video too. ATB
This was such a lovely story, I think it had me smiling all the way through. So glad you three had such a lovely day together, even if it was a long time ago! I'm gradually catching up to present day and love your stories & travels just as much as I did at the beginning. Not wanting to spoil any surprises, I don't look ahead, but I'm hoping that you will be able to enjoy some cruising this summer.... or just doing things that make you happy really. Take care. :)
What thoroughly nice chaps. Rv's aren't really my thing although I guess it could be argued that I live aboard a 50ft RV. Fantastic stuff. Cheers David.
really enjoyed this and subscribed to the RV Geeks channel on strebgth of this
your vids always put me in a good mood thanks,
chris
I don't know...those Canadians. You gotta watch 'em. They'll look all innocent, then they'll steal your beer and hockey sticks! They will say "Sorry, eh". ;)))))) Hello from Ontario!
Don't tip everyone off, Sandra! You're gonna blow our cover! 😂
I have face ache with having a silly grin for so long .. Excellent company and two more dedicated fans . best go to boating channel by far .. well presented and exciting to watch ./ become immersed in .
Love seeing boat tuber's and others checking out each others lives. David when you have your next get together you will need a bigger venue.
G’day David that was a very nice Vlog, they certainly had a great time and what was even better is they had a go. The boat looked terrific as I was able to see her from different angles which was a nice change, thank you very nice blokes regards John PS I noticed on one on their Vlogs that they came to my home state/island Tasmania.
Hi John! We did indeed visit Tasmania and LOVED it! 😊
Another enjoyable vlog thanks David. How lucky you were with the weather. I’ll look out the RV Geeks!
I say, how absolutely smashing. Those colonials, are such a hoot.
This is great. Three of the best RUclips creators in one video! Thanks
I have enjoyed your videos a lot. I’m current at the hospital with a full pneumonia, wires and tubes everywhere. So it has been a pleasant escape from the surroundings. Don’t know when I’ll be back home but I now really want to finish editing my own travel vlog I recorded earlier this year. I really liked all the technical parts too. Don’t hesitate to expand and update on all the interesting technical parts of your boat.
I have also looked at other narrow boat videos now and I think the layout of your boat is one of my favourite layouts. Cheers.
With regard to your full pneumonia, I urge you to STOP THAT! please feel better and get better soon. And do remember that then urses are there to prevent the doctors from killing you.
What a wonderful video. You won over a couple of caravaners and probably ensured that they will have a hire boat experience one day. This was such a positive and fun video!
Without realizing it (or maybe it WAS intentional), David was like a drug dealer, hooking us on narrowboating even more than we'd anticipated. Editing our video, and watching David's, was like a fix. We can't wait to do it again, but for a lot longer next time. 😊
That was nice, so cool they were able to have such a great experience, grinning ear to ear, just like I'm sure I would.
It's always great fun to see two vloggers I follow come together....
They are not real geeks, that are lovely gentlemen who are committed to RV life. I recently saw a young man on American television who was part owner of a violent web sight. He has no neck, he never smiled, he was creepy, really creepy. Peter and John are the best that America has. They are actually gentlemen. I feel better about being an American, with English heritage, because of them.
You mean the best Canada has!
The best Canada has!
@@Thomsy111 I should have known, they were too nice to be americans
@@4sstg Thank you for the lovely note, Marilyn. If it makes you feel any better, we USED to be American. 😉 We're actually dual citizens who are residents of Canada, so all good either way. 😊 DAVID is the epitome of a gentleman, and we were there taking lessons from him.
@@4sstg I hope you get to meet some other of us Marilyn who might give you a better perspective. Until then, be well.
Guests visiting Cruising are basically temp lock keepers. Im sure he sees a long stretch of locks and gets his phone out to see if people want to "visit" him
This was the most fun! The RV Geeks and the British Canals News Commentator! You have converts! Those two were a joy to watch … like kids in a candy shop! (Serious fun!) They were everything your viewers would wish to be were we blessed and fortunate to be there. I’m heading straight over to their channel to check out what they will post about their narrow boat excursion. It wouldn’t shock me to find they’re already making plans to switch to the waterways! Y’all were great fun! Thanks!!!
Thank you so much, Debra! We consider ourselves eternally thankful to have been given this opportunity by David, a truly wonderful and welcoming host. It's so nice to hear that our kids-in-a-candy-shop enthusiasm showed through. 😁
Just came back to Florida after 2 weeks in the UK in which we did 10 days on the Ashby Canal on a 55 foot narrowboat from the Ashby Boats Company. It was wonderful.
LIKE THE RV GUYS LOVE THE EXPERIENCE ON YOUR BOAT IT WAS VERY GOOD
The RV Geeks were such nice guys, that is how I would see the UK next time, great video.
"Guaranteed early start moored next to a working farm..." Oh yes. Have never seen those individual "houses" the calves were in before though. The RV geeks seem like nice chaps, good to see them enjoying narrowboating.
OK now, "Hilariously Grim" What a great name for a band
The big smiles says it all, what fun you all had, great vlog David.
Always nice to see some vips POB
Great video as always and watched all of your videos took me 3 days to catch up last year when i found your channel
Im thinking about doing canals this year myself shame i cant gain the boat side experience but have some of that already
I'm so jealous of these two! 👏👏👏My turn is coming...mark my words😏👍
Nice to see the GEEKS. I saw them first on Gone With The Wynns channel when the did the Panama Canal. Great job guys. Thanks from Boston.
Hi Janice! So happy to see you here, too. Can you tell that we're wanna-be boaters (and that we LOVE canals & locks)?! 😃
Your commentary on these guys was hilarious!😆 They are good guys also.
What a great video! Loved the enthusiasm of the three of you😎
This vlog I liked very much.
Very different, in fact, from the other ones, but highly entertaining.
Thank you.
(4:18-4:30) Hey! I know those guys! I'm also subscribed to RV Geeks, so I got to ride along with them in their motorhome while touring England. It must've been an honour to have them on board during their time in England.
Your guests seemed thoroughly nice gent and obviously enjoyed their day.
What a lovely vlog. I'm so jealous, that I'm not owning a narrowboat. But I'm thinking about it now seriously getting one when I retire. What a pleasure seeing you all having fun together. 👍👍👍 Best wishes from Northern Germany 🙋♂️
Amazing footage, cheers from New Zealand
What lovely blokes.
It was a great pleasure to watch your guest on a ride in your narrow boat.
Great video with wonderful gentlemen!
