I do not understand what I am seeing in competitions these days, compared to my much earlier playing days. All teams seem to use a much slower set in the middle; the setter launches the ball as the hitter is on the rise of his jump, but not clear of the ground. I do not see the advantage compared to having the attacker in the air and ready to swing before the setter releases. For example, middle blocker stayed on the ground here. This should have been an automatic set to the middle, with no block, if the setter can confirm that before releasing.

Yuji only has powerful attacks and heavy serves (with too much errors)...he is liability in blocking and floor defense
