I just can't seem to stop listening to Gord's music since he passed away. I have "Gord's Gold" going on a loop on Apple Play and just keep falling deeper in love with his music.
Would you say hello to someone, and you don't need to explain .........And by the way did she mention my name. Gordon your name will be mentioned for years to come and future generation will know who you were too. RIP and God Bless
I met Gordon years ago when he sang in Springfield, MA Smphony Hall. My husband and I had gone to many of his concerts but this time I said to my husband " I wish I could meet him". My husband turned me around and said, "you're going to" and started pulling me to the back entry. There were guards standing there and my sweet husband walked past them like he belonged there. Gordon was chatting with a few fans but the music group were alone. They introduced themselves and invited us to eat some of the food on the table. It was piled full. Finally Gordon came over. Such a gentleman, nice, warm friendly. He spent about 20 mins talking to us. I wanted his signature but had no paper but I found a charge receipt and all of them signed it. It's now taped to the album cover. That was about 20 years ago. At another concert in Northampton, MA, I sent a request for a song, "Beautiful", my husband and my favorite. I told him my husband had died of cancer, described us so he remembered, and he immediately switch to Beautiful. And it was wonderful.
Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Ian Tyson, can you count how many great songs these four Canadians have written? And all, during the same timeframe, incredible! And, I was able to see and hear them.
I also asked Gordon several years back to play Beautiful for the most beautiful woman in the world that happened to be my girlfriend. It’s a bit of a story. We were fortunate enough to meet him again several years after that when I just about ran over him on the street, while delivering an award to him.I am writing a manuscript right now that Gordon figures prominently in. Actually the first chapter is just about him (and us and a love story).
I just can't stop crying 😭😭💔 Rest in peace, Gordon. Will cherish your music forever! 🎶🎸
❤
My sentiments exactly. His songs went right to the heart. Rest in Peace Gordon.
Same here
Me too friend💔💜
Lightfoot isn't only Canadian, he is every nationality.
I know you are gone, but I still wanted to say thanks for signing my vinyl copies of Gord's Gold and Sundown for me in 2011. I'll never forget you
Thank you, Goedon, for your beautiful, heartfelt music. RIP. You are missed.
Damn, we’re losing so many great songwriters. Gordon Lightfoot was one of the best.

our father of troubadurs has died
the world is not poor because his songs keep on living
Sad day for Canadian music and fans
R.I.P. Gord. I found out in the middle of class so that was an embarrassing 30 minutes I couldn’t stop crying. He was like a mentor to me.
Once Gordon left us, there’s nobody in song left anymore to fill his void💔💜
His music was the background of our lives. You could hear it an elevator or walking through the shopping mall.

I loved going to one of Gord's annual set of November concerts back in the mid 80's, at Toronto's Massey Hall. Love that Gibson 12 string, Gord !

Thank you for sharing this. It seems like Gord's voice has actually improved in the past few years.

It seems to me that u’re doing ok/ good for you GLIGHTfoot
But the Harmony cd - what a delight
Smoking and booze beat the hell out of him...
I read he doesn't perform For Lovin' Me anymore because it comes off as pro-sociopath.
The BBC version from 1972 was better. I hate it when he skips or leaves out a verse!
El Chupacabra omg
Get a life!
