I believe that the majority of Rastafari in the diaspora have romanticize Africa to the point of fantasy. The original purpose of the Rastafari Movement, I believe, got lost in that fantasy. Red, gold and green, and locks here in the diaspora doesn't have the same significance in Africa. The reality is, Africa is our landmass our ancestors' point of origin, and many indigenous Africans in the motherland, 53+ countries struggle daily to fit in the collective. I have never been to the motherland but based on my knowledge, the remnants from the colonial past (offsprings) are in more of a privileged position than many of the indigenous people. I have always wonder, why does Rastafari always choose to live in the big cities instead of tribal settings. The major difference between living in the diaspora and living in Africa, I would believe, the "black people" are recognizably black. The fantasy ends there.🇯🇲
