- The state of emergency in St. John's continued Monday for a fourth day. Up to 300 troops from across Canada were being mobilized in a federal response that was authorized Saturday. In Conception Bay North, the search continued for a third day for John Wall, 26, who went missing Friday.

God bless the Canadian soldiers!!!!!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Canada 🇨🇦 Military ❤. Best of luck to all them and their family . Hope they are all safe . I am thankful for our military helping 🙏
I'm Canadian, and I still am thankful for our military. They are truly heros
Sending much love from Texas. You rock Canada! Stay safe and warm.
Good to see our army helping out the citizens
But why only 300?.....
Seriously I wish the usa would use military in similar citizen emergencies

@@AmandaComeauCreates : Apparently, they are here only, to help those who are unable to shovel themselves out. We've been hit with three significant storms in around, three weeks, and this last one was worse than the first two combined. We don't get a chance to clean up properly, from one before getting hit with another. So it's not only, this storm alone, but the combined effect of all three. All together, we've had maybe, somewhere, between 150 to close to 200 cm in the past three weeks, but that's a very, rough estimate. Not sure what that works out to in feet, but it's a hell of a lot, and the winter is just starting.
My Best. Out.
Ivan J. Conway this is Mikinak-Minis and this is the weather we get here, if you can’t handle or like it....Go back and complain to your queen.
Yikes, I hope they find Josh really soon.
This is exactly what troops should be doing this day and age. I can't believe that we are still sending people to war. Bless these people!
They won't find John Wall until the snow melts. Very sad. Never should have left the house in those conditions.
Who's John Wall?
Absolutely amazing, in my country, Australia, we are having heat and bush fires. I have a friend in the Australian Defence Force and he is a soldier who is providing emergency relief for the people affected by the bush fires. I salute and thank all military people in your country and mine.
Can I get a like for our Canadian Army!
Belwinder Luthra no u cant
Where's Mel Lastman when you need him ?
Canadian soldiers are very special. They are especially good at liberating people from difficult circumstances, as they once also did for the Dutch people. Much love
So cool that the military is going to help
Damn Canada, God bless you guys, love from USA, let us know if y'all need help
We need America money ;)
Yep.... That's us Americans....
Nice people we are!
Can't say that for others!
Can you throw some US Dollars my way?
I have more rounds of ammunition than I have money, can you Canadians take that instead?
@@1mdrag0n As long as you send it in 5-round magazines! Or, better yet, you could "send" some to Trudeau... I'm sure he would appreciate it.
I pray for his safety.
I hope they find that young man . Soon . Hoping alls well with him and he is found safe.
Thanks guys
Take care all and God bless all
Wow thats a whole lot of snow
Good luck NL, wishing the best from BC!
Ban for dumping something that will melt an end up there anyway. Savvy.
Its Banned cause on road ways you have salts, sands, oils, hydraulic fluid, gas diesel and whatever else leaks from vehicles mixed in with the snow you plow. Dumping it in the water is polluting alot. Understandable that they are allowing it now considering.
Don’t tell the high priced smart people this. You would be a rasist
I hope Josh isn't in one of those dump trucks.
No its going to drain to the sea in the end it does not matter just away to lock you down. they should have started plowing right from the start you don.t keep up with it it will be harder to clear. Poor planning on the cities part.
Theres a typo in the description. They called him John Wall, but his name is Josh wall.
OhMy.. this reminds me of the "SnowBomb" that hit Gävle.. Sweden.. in 1999 it was unbelievable .. 3m highs of snow
I hope they find Josh.. Stay safe everyone Listen to the security advice.. 💕🍃🌍🍃✌💕 Bravo for the soldiers Great job 💕🍃🌹🍃
it's freezing out here Mr. bigglesworth
I love Canada....snow and all!
Me too💕💕🥰🤗

Prayers 🙏 for Josh Wall!!! Hope they find 'em!!!
For to have a good transport in the hard winter is necessary to build grandee tunnel on the avenue and that the transport can to arrive to parking in differents city district
I'm on Ontario, not much hit. Around 20-30 CM where I live
So this is where the snow are, we where supposed to get that here in sweden. Give it back!
Same in Finland!

Thanks from a newfie to a finish.
Designing a rig to melt snow vs moving it any depth.
The typical spiral for a blower is heated discs by induction using counter spinning magnets to steel not electricity.
It's a tanker and has Hot-Air blowers to clear sidewalks & cars on PTOs with suction hoses to tank it.
So far looks minimal for modifications to std trucks except needs a PTO machine for sidewalks no plow, still a tanker.
No funding, some available OTS parts main need magnet heaters for air & snow, spec uses SamCos for heat tolerance for air to 350C/660F.
It will repeat whenever, best thoughts to all.
This reminds me of the Blizzard of '78 in Massachusetts when the state national guard had to dig us out southwest of Boston.
Thanks soldier
Given the scale of the snowfall the relief efforts seem to be a drop in the bucket. Cheers to the handful of soldiers who are working hard to help.
Gilles Milaire Atlantic Canada has gotten snow like this before but for Newfoundland this is a new recorded beating there 1999 record of 60 cm but the issue is Atlantic Canada snow doesn’t melt until late April sometimes but are grounded don’t defrost quick which can create flooding and the big problem is Newfoundland is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean so if the snow melts and floods they are underwater so they bring in the military in these situations to help with snow removal to help prevent this
Damn, it's like everything just dumped.
Thank you so much Canada's troop's. Lead the way with a positive response from your side.
anyone else notice that the news said josh but the description says john...
I hate shovelling snow in the mornings on the weekends especially on Saturday
Saturday morning is the pits for shovelling snow.
Reminds me of the snowstorm that we Torontonians endured in 1999. We were the laughingstock at the time because our mayor called the military to dig us out. But it's not so funny now.
Anyone who dares to laugh at the Newfoundlanders will have to deal with us first!
@@MrJoeSomebody , agreed it wasn't, but the real issue with the storm of '99 in Toronto was a couple things, one the city is buildings and people jammed packed into a small space, there was literally no pace to put the snow, I lived in the Ronscansvile area, our street wasn't plowed for 3 days, we were able to dig a path to our cars, all parked on streets b/c in most place in the core of Toronto there are no garages, everyone's car is on the street, which makes snow removal and plowing incredibly difficult, our cars were buried, like what we are seeing in St.John's right now. We were able to get a path dug out to the street but only because my house mate was 6'4 rowing champion had even he had to tackle that path on about 3 different times, each time he came in exhausted dripping in sweat, he said he'd never ever had seen anything like it, b/c of his height and strength and endurance/physical shape he could get the snow up to make an embankment that was over my head, I am 5'4, when I stood with my hands extended over my head, the top of the tunnel my friend had shoveled from our front door to the street, was at least another foot over the tops of my extended fingers above my head. Sure lots of people scoffed and laughed but they were not snowed into a home with no way out. There are many many small little war time houses still left in TO many are lived in by elderly people who have been there for years, those people were snowed in, and had no way out, they certainly couldn't shovel themselves out and the biggest emergency was that if a plow couldn't get down a street ( like ours, for over 3 days) that means emergency vehicles also can't get down those streets and that puts literally hundreds of thousands of people at risk. Mel Eastman was an easy man to poke fun of, but truly anyone laughing at that storm just does not understand what Toronto was really dealing with.
That makes me proud of our troops. Not being on someone else's land with guns for their interests.
@Ken Lompart when did he say that? He said hes proud they aren't mindlessly killing
@Ken Lompart yes it is mindless. They are following orders no matter what they are LMAO
@Ken Lompart go back to America
@Ken Lompart you seems very heated over the truth my friend

Imagine all the snow mold that melts when spring comes
we are used to this every year in norway
No you aren't lmao nobody is used to this amount of snow
Really, l don't think you saw that..its 75cm
75CM and 157km of wind creating massive drifts
Is Toronto and and all Canada have this much snow?
The military should do this more often.
Is it just me or the guy who is reporting in red jacket looks like the missing man !?
@ 3:18 You can see the dude finally making it to his buddies place after it took 72 hours to go 10km.
They’re not going to find that dude until spring 😐
Jesus people. Get a grip.
The poor guy!
@Just a mental fellow Exactly
Maybe they can dump all the snow around the CBC studio.
Good idea all that hot air should do it.
Dump it all around the Parliament Buildings and 24 Sussex Drive. Plenty of hot air in those 2 places
How we can we help??
This is awesome
As a kid I remember falling into a hole, which was covered by snow. I could just barely move. Somehow I was able to pull myself out...but for a while there I thought "this might be it". That's all ANYONE needs to do, during a blizzard, and "that's all she wrote".
SOUNDS LIKE THEY'VE GIVEN HIM UP FOR DEAD.
God bless them Bologna sandwiches!!👌🏻
I think the Nefies need some beer to wash them down also
Ahh, the flesh of the bologna beast... so homogenous and easy to butcher... no offal to clean out, but sometimes you find one infested with olives & macaroni. :-/

Same situation here in PHX az USA
Canadians are some of the friendliest people. I once witness a fight when I visited Toronto. After the fight one of the guy says “nice jacket, where you get it eh”
How about using a snow plow with a heating element.
People don't keep one month supply of food and medicine in their houses for no reason.
Tip from a prayer. He is in an area more than 4 but not 5 km away from his driveway. He's waiting . Praying . So check that area .
I live in Sweden and you would think there was snow here, non all winter, for real, not a flurry yet(Scania).
NA is a wild continent, cold down to N35°.
RECORD COLD IN CANADA.
Funny thing is that a woman that lives across the street is from Sweden. We all helped each other. 5 people Andy 3 snowblowers were going for 3 days. She told us the same. Sweden had no snow this year. I've seen more snow then this. 2001 we had 20ft that year.
@@andrewgoodwin9385 Increase the carbon tax in Sweden ...maybe it will get colder for them.
VERY VERY SMART...All cities should dump excessive snow along the coastal areas.
I hope they found him ... may God protect him
OK, I live in St. John's and am going through this myself, and it's a bet ridicules to have so many military guys digging out one house. Please! Not giving a very accurate portrayal of things, at all.
It is true though, well over half the streets in town are barely, passable or not usable at all. With every, new, snowfall we have, we are delayed that much more in getting the state of emergency lifted.
The vast majority of us are pulling through pretty well, but with every day that goes by without the town up and running, there are concerns of another sort, with people running out of food and the sick not getting tended to properly, and so forth. We certainly, are not out of the woods yet.
My Best. Out.
I would have done it the same way...send a bunch to one place to completely get each person out. Sending one or two would take all day and you can't get out at all until you're properly cleared.
@@rosestewart1606 : Ya, I know Darling, I posted that a day or so ago, shortly after the military arrived here, and was somewhat, concerned as to what others may be thinking with so many solders focused on the one house. It seemed like overkill a little.
I guess, there's no real, cut and dried, right or wrong way to do this, you simply, jump in and get it done whatever way you can. I guess, it was a little annoying as well, seeing as I, myself, have been shoveling the stuff, almost, non stop since Christmas Eve, with no help, at all, really. Though my driveway is nowhere near as long as this one though. That being said; the street I live on only, has one path cut through, with roughly, 12 feet of snow from the sidewalk to where it's plowed, still, roughly, two feet deep. Vehicles cannot pass each other, where they should not be out anyway, really, and it's extremely, risky to be walking it, at this stage. And this is still, after six days into this. When they eventually, widen the road, I don't have the foggiest idea of where to put it all to. I expect, it will be another, day or two of work trying to work that around to the side of the house, as well. And that will be the hard, heavy, stuff plowed up from the road, and you know how hard that is to shovel. And if we get another storm on top of all this now, I don't even, want to think of the consequences of it.
I expect, some of us will be feeling the effects of this, well into the spring.
But nothing unheard of though. We are Maritime People, and yes, we've seen this sort of thing many, many, times before. Sure. But what is happening now, is that these old cities are ageing further, and more and more people are moving to these places - I'm sure the problem is doubled in Halifax compared to St. John's - with increasing demand on everything, really. So when we get storms that traditionally, we are accustomed to getting, it will all, be worse because of the way our cities and communities are changing. I would think that all, Maritime, City Counsels, should be planning for this, so they can meet emergencies like this better, in the future. Would you not agree?
My Best. Out For Now.
@@ivanj.conway9919 should probably just be greatful your getting help. Jesus.

They need snow blowing effects.
I don't believe they dont have space to put the snow to melt instead of just putting a shittone of more water in the harbour like you got no fields at all to put it on..
Very difficult situation, but I especially hope that Josh Wall is still alive and will be found that way. He shouldn't have wandered through back country to try to get to his friend's residence. Could possibly be done, when knowing the path to take well, having a good sleeping bag, such as a cloud kind, given that it can be used such that you basically bury yourself in the snow, for snow is surely less cold up there now than the air temp. is, bring food stuff, etc. Also bring a pair of downhill ski goggles for eye protection against blowing snow, for that, imo anyway, is very annoying; having snow whipped into/onto your eyeballs NOT being any fund whatsoever. Need to be well prepared. And it probably would've been better if he had tried to get to his friend's place using roadway, for if he'd pass out there, then there might be a better chance of locating him, such as by air. Given the amount of snow they received there though, if he passed out on or along a roadway, then maybe he'd become so buried, covered with snow that even aerial search might turn out fruitless. Definitely don't want to make that trip without seriously being prepared in case of problems due to the storm. I wish him well, but it seems his anxiety drove him to getting himself into a nasty situation, unwittingly.. If, when he left to do that trek, the weather conditions weren't bad, then I can't speak in that regard, for all I've learned about St. John's over the past few days is that the situation was very nasty. I don't know when the state of emergency advisory, alarm was begun, and maybe it hadn't yet begun when Josh left to try to get to his friend's residence; but, if the advisory was already begun, then Josh clearly needs something to tranquilize his anxiety. I've experienced anxiety, but definitely not to this extent, and it nonetheless caused problems for me. Josh evidently has even worse anxiety. It can definitely be very disrupting.
Holy. Keep it to the point.
God bless all who are lending a hand to help Newfoundlander . May the Good Lord be with all of them🙏

It's funny several years ago I viewed a home for sale with a heated drive which I thought was the most silly over the top feature. I thought it was so over the top and ridiculous. I thought all that would happen is all the wildlife would come to sleep on the drive at night. Since seeing this video in rethinking that heated drive way!!!!!

Seems we're getting this year what you guys got last year. Thankfully, we never lost our power, anyway. Only three times, but each time was less than two hours. Now it's more, a waiting game to see when the town is going to be up and running and hoping to God, we don't get any more significant snow for a while. Another big storm on top of this and we're don.

Snow melting in water robs the water of oxygen.
Why don't some of yaz bottle up some of that there snow and sell it on eBay. Newfie Snow.
Are the soldiers doing anything other than shovelling? They must... There's 500K people in Newfoundland. Surely a lack of bodies to man shovels isn't a problem?
most Canadian populations are ageing, the army help will be needed just for the people who are incapable of digging themselves out and getting to a groceries store to restock, personally I am 45 and i have to say after 3 days of going at the snow I feel aches in places i didn't know i had :)
