Essentially, a specific type of cell from one of the guys gets converted into an egg cell by deleting the Y chromosome and duplicating the X chromosome, making the cell "female" and, with the right conditions, it ends up as an egg cell instead of a sperm cell. After that, the conception process is basically the same as for heterosexual couples that use a surrogate mother. It's just that, currently, we've only done the process for mice since human cells are a lot more complex...

I'm actually pleasantly surprised that same-sex couples are available in this game. So many Japanese games like this only allow heterosexual couples. Also, Yuu is literally just Kaworu from Evangelion. A mysterious and alluring stranger who comes out pf nowhere halfway through the story and instantly falls in love with Marine. He even looks like him too.
@@Darth_Conans I do definitely think it is a bit of a shame that the gender of your love interests is locked in by the first person you choose. But I think the fact that same-sex couples are there at all is very impressive for a mainstream Japanese game, even if bisexuality is unfortunately not represented.
Japan is actually a lot more progressive than you think, with BL and Yuri part of their culture for centuries. They're not the noisy, push-down-your-throat type of people so you don't hear much of it. I bet you'd be surprised to see this is common in Japanese exclusive games, especially eroge.
