Really enjoyed that one, good view of you and your tools working, I must invest in a 3/8 air ratchet! Your cordless one was one of your most used tools, I can't afford a battery one but I do have air so after watching your video it is clear how useful they are. I love Honda engineering so it was nice to see the engine survived, the head didn't stand a chance. Pass the word guys, if it is getting hot, get it fixed straight away. The longer you leave it the worse it gets.
Those Honda engines hate being overheated and usually it warps the block and head along with blowing the head gasket. My 1999 CRV overheated one time before because of a exploded radiator hose. The car must have been blessed at that time because it didn’t break anything.
common melding/breaking/warped timing belt covers. Cam caps have dowels and do get stuck. resurface with a new gasket is the only thing needed to get it running fine. a water pump and timing belt/tensioner would be the best time
@Youll Never Know thas true tha hapend to my brother thes best thing got other motor low milles put and it when you tray fit it like thad sometime like you saing
New subscriber glad to see a channel from Mass/NH. Just seen your toolbox review. Nice setup! I'll have to look for a part 2 of this video. &hope you one day get to track down your father's tools. Thanks for the videos & sharing with us.
I wasn't going to comment until you mentioned it. I have 04 crv smoking white . I was told I may need this process you just did. I couldn't believe how labor intensive. This auction car is a bad one. Other auction cars I did well but this...don't know, I wasn't careful enough buying it. Taught me a lesson. It's having trouble starting as well. Pray for me🤣. What year was this crv?
Thank you very informative video i just went through a blown headgasket situation on my car and ended selling the poor car wish i knew more before mechanics wanted to stiff me for repairs. Appreciate the video
Yeah, based on what you said about that CR-V in the last vid, I thought it was a golden lock you were going to have to give it head! Then we cheeched...
please please go to the back weel wells and take the rubber plug out that is covered in bondo and weld a some sheet metal in I am tiered of seeing these great crvs with holes in the weel wells and them rotting
Nothing like a little science to get your day started, so here we go! I googled a timing cover for this model CRV, found some images, they're stamped "PP-TD40" Which is a polypropylene plastic with 40% talc filler/strengthener. The key here is the polypropylene, I looked that up, and it has a melting point of 266 fahrenheit, so that means the block was pretty damn close to that temperature down where those bolts connected the belt cover onto the engine. I'm not sure entirely what that means, other than the vehicle probably operates at 205 or so degrees and it got to at least 266, could even hotter around the pistons.
+Joseph Costello Amazed it cranked over again honestly. That's why ricers love Hondas, it's the only thing they can abuse for thousands and thousands of miles and still have it run!
I have a 99 crv that smokes a little at start up and smokes sometimes when I'm idling for a while. Doesn't over heat oil looks clean. Idk what it could be. Any help is appreciated.its pretty sporadic. Smells like burnt oil when. It does smoke.
could start a vtec conversion at this point... because racecar! I kinda want to do that to my car, but not going to happen though because I don't have a backup car yet.
Bp1033 and this motor is not one one that you could make into a v Tec I don't think and get another motor a v Tec . you should see the improvement intake manifold that most 2001s have runs a a lot smother
Great informative upload there,Well done. 👍 Can you please help, 🙏 Same vehicle , no coolant being used , fans kick in , in cold weather temp gauge goodoes go to middle, after about 5 mins, and heating is quite hot.... Looked after, regular servercing ect , done by myself. I really hope it's not this...... Thank you
I had a really bad experience with a first gen CRV just like that.... GROSSLY over heated... blew the head gasket... super low buck ebay head replacement..... end result... wasted money
I have a 2001 Honda CRV It keeps overheating to the point of where the queer running I thought was a blowhead gasket but they're no water in the oil it's not smoking but spitting water back through the radiator cap and the overflow and it's not coming to your part I've had a new water pump put in there what are you think you can be
too bad he didn't take the time to explain what he is doing, if I want music ill go to I tunes, he should have taken the time used with music production to tell us what the f,,, he is doing.
johne tada sorry.. this was a long time ago when I was learning how to make videos period.. I'll check out your channel when I get home and see if I can learn how to make better videos by watching yours.

Was the change engine light on. That engine is pooched, bet it will be an oil burner or toss a rod if fixed
the motor is fine gust the head that needs a resurfacing easy fix
When these engines are overheated they like to drop the cylinder liners so you have to deck the block too.

loving wat you do as usual hah great to see true master tech tk you sir
That sucks selling a car to a customer and then it fails
Might as well replace the whole motor with a Jdm b20b. Probably would be cheaper in the long run to go that route too.
She sure was chooching.

I made sure to tell my gf not to drive her car if it starts overheating when you showed the crv the other day lol...just have to make sure they know.
hugeslacker the bad part is there is no tempecher gage
These brilliant engineers andbpwnny pinchers are even removing temp gauges now. Good luck to people who are ignorant regarding cars
Liked the video, hated to see the damage.
amesie what song is that at 5:34?
I don't remember. I think it's something by Huma Huma.. On RUclips video editor music.
That engine is "kippered" mate!

Could of saved it if this customer's daughter went off the side of the road safely and shut it off getting it towed to the shop
I had a really bad experience with a first gen CRV just like that.... GROSSLY over heated... blew the head gasket... super low buck ebay head replacement..... end result... wasted money

that's what happens when your kid knows nothing about cars. teach your children people, tell them to put down the phone.
