There’s no compelling reason to stay engaged in the story if it’s just water this water that. It’s a stupid concept and I’m glad they decided to put the whole water thing to the side but still

This isn't just gritty. Its more details, better shadows, different colored grass, darker etc.
Its not just a different art style, this is more realistic than what we got
Plus all those choices and consequences that would affect the city and that each players gaming experience would have been unique. But to be fair the game is getting way better with all these update (especially the latest one), but of course it will never be like the e3 :/

The tasks you do now in the game feels fruitless, the entire post apocalyptic feeling is absent,the safezones doesn't feel safe ,the works are repetitive...... it's just saddening 😞
@@samderanzer8568 Well DL2 cant capture what the first did, nor it can show what it wanted as it feels more like a fallout game with its more colorefull apocalipse then what DL 2 should, and what we see in the Trailers by that I mean the map isnt the same we have in game a lot has been cut from the game and I think it would be better if they started it from zero at this point as the game didnt deliver what it promised and its worse in most aspects then DL 1.
I agree man, the game we got feels like a cartoon. It doesn't have the same feel as this, everything's so much doomier in this version of the game. Maybe Dying Light 3 will deliver this kind of feel whenever that comes out.

yeah but you gotta remember this was the first ever build of dl2 made solely to showcase the game to the public. the first playable build didnt exist until late 2019/early 2020. i guess at some point the art direction changed and we got what we have now
@@nexusisntavailable Its a shame it changed this much. Its objectivly a massive downgrade compared to the demo... Basic things like dynamic shadows are missing, you know they messed up if even DL1, a game from 2015 has dynamic shadows but a 7 year younger game doesnt...

I preordered dl2 the day it got announced cus i love games where players choices change the world and are important , and what we got? Give a water tower to the PK's or survivors and the only diffrence will be the look of the place and that there will be PK's or surviors on the street , and the only time when you change the city is well , not even connected to the story cus you go there for like 5 mins and then its useless. Its also funny how the trailer from 1 year before the launch shows the ending pretty much which means they were working on detalils for 1year and yet they changed the game to worse

A game like this whould take 10-15 sears to develop.. especially with the ambition they had.. so thry had to made it "worse" to fit their goal.. this original dl2 was too ambitious

The first game that will actually have a good story, an actual really expansive decision making system and good gameplay with a good world will probably become the best selling game of all time. I heard Fallout New Vegas comes pretty close to that, I gotta give it a try one day.

I want this Dying Light
me too. Should’ve been like this instead of the playable but mostly solid release(solid because while it is good, it has lost its potential to be this version). And the plot should be similar to the first game: Aiden goes to the City in search of Waltz, to help tie up some bloody ends to his past, but eventually, he forgets his entire reason of coming here and instead he helps the people, doing quest after quest. However, water is a scarce resource and the people of the City rally to him to give them their water. You can either help them get their water or give them the finger and help out the other factions like the PK and Renegades, each of them promising Aiden an opportunity to get to him. Either way, you get an opportunity to get to this one guy who fucked your childhood up. You could either aid the Colonel, Survivors(and the Free Folk with their various tasks), or PK. The end involves the death of Waltz, water being given to your chosen faction, and you either staying or leaving the City.
Oh boy.. this will be an interesting one for sure.
Kinda sad to see what has happened with the game. The old gameplay looks way better than what we currently have. The new stuff is WAY to colorful and stylised. It ain't even scary anymore.

Asdrubale You can hear them at the very beginning, and you can kind of see them. I’m not complaining though, but maybe this little area of the city central is a safe zone full of civilians, which is zombie free.

Probably my most anticipated game out of all the games announced. Even more so then Last of Us 2 form. Me and my friends still play Dying Light regularly. 2 will be a Masterpiece.

Yeah choices and consequences Don't exist in Dl2 ,you might unlock some side quest or dialogue but the word around you is mostly un effected
@@smoke_xl3332 Def not true. Depending on who you side in this water mission, (SPOILERS) Old Villedor becomes depopulated and the Bazaar is destroyed. If you side with the Survivors though, Old Villedor ends up thriving. There is still drastically different scenarios, but not what it shows here.
@@garret16 the only difference is that in one the bazaar is destroyed with the pk metro station and in the other the bazza is still going,I don't get the depopulation thing cause I see the same amount of npcs outside.Dont fool yourself there are only a few choices that differ the ending not the people in the word,what you do in old villador has no effect in the central loop and you can only side with 2 factions,where are the wildcard factions they said? Where are the choices and consequences that change the city drastically ,the flooded city was at the end of the game and it is not a good area to play in .The games main story is a huge downgrade from what avallone showed us ,too bad they fired him
@@smoke_xl3332 they make a difference story wise but it all eventually comes full circle you'll just have the story go a certain direction for a certain mission. Also the world gets affected based on what faction you give a facility too. It wasn't a total lie but yeah it could've been better

@@swagthug Then this game will forever be inferior to the first one. Overhauls are needed in a lot of areas if they want it to stay the next half decade. Lighting, physics, skyboxes just to list a few.

-Crane will not be the main protagonist; no one from the first game will be in the second game
-DL2 is set 15 years after Harran in a new location called "The City"
-"The City" is 4 times bigger than the whole first game. In an interview, someone who is working on DL2 stated, “It's basically four times bigger than Dying Light 1’s maps and Dying Light: The Following’s map put together.” DL2’s map will be insanely huge, prepare your computers.
-"The City", most likely a European city, is possibly the last remaining human settlement on Earth
-During the day zombies will be more prevalent inside buildings
-There will also be zombies in uninhabited parts of the town called “Dark Zones” that you can probably clear out and capture
-Zombies will be much scarier at night time; predictably a lot scarier than the first game’s night times
-Choices that you make will dramatically influence how the game will play out
-There will be many new factions fighting against each other, and you
-4 player co-op will be back!
-Parkour has been improved, now twice as many moves than in DL1
-Many other systems have also been significantly improved (crafting, melee, etc)
-There is no release date yet, but it will be some time in 2019
-You can whistle to lure zombies to your position
-Traps (car traps, light traps, firecrackers, etc) will be returning
-You can use objects around you (buckets, gas cans, etc) to throw at enemies

Lol true the game could've been something incredible. There's a third one, the renegades, you can side with them if you do what Juan tells but it kinda sucks you can't assign them structures and it's not obvious you're siding with the renegades. The result is an renegade ending.

TheChristmasDude_TCD it's hard to find the best controls for a parkour game with shooting and fighting elements. I personally think they did a great job.
The gritty, dark atmosphere in this trailer is so much more interesting of a take than the bright, vibrant vomit we got. The retail feels like a damn arcade game and it's disappointing.
Its almost looks like that developer creating two games at the same time. One for the show case and the other for release

@@gmodperson1 The real reason why we didn’t get a true DL1 successor is because Chris Avellone who was the narrative designer and the writer was wrongfully accused of sexual assault in which he was innocent.
Techland fired him and erased 90% of his work
People found deleted build and assets in the game files and on the internet there’s more than 200+ pages of deleted contents.
That’s why we now have a pill of diarrhea (current “DL2”)
@@gmodperson1 chris avellone was actually fired by techland and they removed almost all of his work from the project because he was falsly accused of sexual assault chris made a law suit and actually won it last year so techland fired this guy just because there was a chance of the accusations being real techland only really cares about its own rep in the industry.

The sound, the feeling of isolation and the sense of danger. Those are the things we never got....
I loved to see the E3 graphics and not because they were detailed, but because they gave me a dusty post apocalyptic feeling. The feeling that I was actually in the game and needed water. The characters looked so much more complex and actually looked like they had fear and anger in their eyes. I am not saying that DL2 is bad. I am just saying that it is not worthy to be part of the Dying Light experience. Hell the night isn't even dark, and there is no fear and immersion in knowing exactly how many zombies are after you and seeing every step you take in perfect light.

Basement Dweller the dlc for Witcher is MORE SUBSTANTIAL than Dying Lights, and no shit they aren't working on it anymore they're working on Cyberpunk 2077, they did release 16 free dlcs and 2 LARGE expansions that could've been full games on their own (Hearts of Stone 10 hrs) and (Blood and Wine 40 hrs) best EXPANSIONS YOU'LL EVER BUY AND PLAY AND THEY'RE ACTUAL EXPANSIONS!

there was no downgrade. This trailer is promoting and showing off a game that didn't exist then. The trailer is basically a mashup of entirely scripted gameplay sequences to show off their initial conceptual vision for the game, which ultimately evolved and changed during the game's development. But it is unfortunate that we ended up with a game that resembles far cry new dawn more than an actual dying light game at least visually.

@@skizecraft I worded my statement poorly, I do agree that their original vision in 2018 was indeed downgraded into basically a far cry new dawn clone visually and artistically. However, my main point that I was arguing is that the devs didn't actually have even a near playable prototype build of the game to necessarily downgrade, and that the current release build is an evolution or devolution of their original vision we saw in the 2018 trailer. @@jergone6499 they shouldve cancelled the ps4 and xbox one versions like they cancelled the 360 and ps3 versions of DL1 because those consoles couldn't run the game for how they wanted it to be. Instead of doing the same here they instead stripped it down like crazy so it could be just stable enough on the xbox one and ps4. This game couldve been 100 times more what it is now but instead they sacrificed what it couldve been SO it could run on inferior, underpowered consoles
And they just stopped adding in free dlc in their first game. More developers should follow Techlands approach to making games.

Over Ambitious Ubisoft is giving some free dlc not all of them but we do have rainbow six siege and the division has gotten some free dlc too. Ubisoft is working on getting a better reputation but they have a long road ahead

Man if only the world building is really as dynamic as they sold it. 100+ choices to shape the world? We only ended up having that 2 handful of electric and water stations. We can't side with bandits, we hardly see npcs interacting with one another in the open world or drink from fountains.

let's be real here, we got a massive downgrade, and im not saying that what we got was bad its just that there are few things that were better here, in this demo the world wasn't as colorful which made it more realistic to zombie apocalypse scenario and of course the whole plot with water was just cut out i also feel like PK's were meant to be a bigger threat than in the final cut

Honestly, as someone who complained about the lightning, I got over it real quick. But, the Parkour animations was what I didn't get over with. They look janky and slow. While the 2019 animations at least looked smooth and beautiful.

As much as I enjoyed the Dying Light 2 that we got, I definitely prefer the style of this version. Considering it was in the game at some point, I'm hopeful that the game can be updated in the future to look and feel more like this.

@@Toku91 They've definitely made a lot of technical and mechanical improvements and the game is much better now, with promises of even more improvements coming.
In terms of the actual visual style, the game also now has a filter in the settings to make the colors look muted so that it looks more like how the game looked at E3. Still not perfect, but better than nothing.
I bought the Deluxe edition 2 days ago. But after some research i found out that 90% Talks bad about the game.. Ive played Dying light and completed the game 98%.. The slums was the best part buy once i reached town i didnt enjoyed my time spending there.

Game developers should understand that if they show us gameplay of their game and it creates a lot of hype, people essentially like what they SEE. If the final release of the game doesn’t look anything like the gameplay trailer, the only assumption for any smart developer would be that people will hate the game. But they still alter the game to their liking, without caring what the audience thinks.

Yeah, idk who they hired for the art direction for this game, but they completely lost their touch. The gritty, dark atmosphere in this trailer is so much more interesting of a take then bright, vibrant vomit. The retail feels like a damn arcade game and it's disappointing.
