Iran is one of the coolest countries to learn about. I've always loved Ancient/Classical History so I dedicated years to studying Ancient Greece and Rome. Even though Rome will always have a place in my heart, over time I fell in love with the Iranian Empires and drifted more and more to them and am obsessed with it now from the Achaemenids (or even the Pre-Iranic Empires such as Assyrians or even the original Akkadian Empire) to the Medieval Saracens (I know Saracen is a very broad and debated term to refer to the various Caliphates that ruled in this period, so please forgive me if it causes offense). So much rich and beautiful history that gets overshadowed because of modern day politics it honestly makes me so sad. I honestly believe Cyrus the Great should be a figure studied in the same light as Julius or Augustus Caesar or even Alexander for his great achievements.
