A great watch. I'm so pleased that I'm not the only one who appreciates that there is no annoying background music. We watch these clips because Bruce is obviously so knowledgeable and explains things so clearly. All those years of experience are so very valuable.
I love your videos Bruce i am a yank from the States 🇺🇲 lol 😂 I Consider you Bruce The Terminator T-800 BRUCE YOU ARE TRULY The most ENERGETIC MAN IN HIS early 60s that i have ever seen. You have Energy like a 20 something year old 30 something year old. I hope when I get your age 60 that i can do everything that you can do. It's absolutely remarkable the energy level you have bruce especially for being 60 years old. I have to take my head off to your. Don't let age stop what you love to do. Your movies that you do on RUclips here are awesome. There's no other word for it, just plain awesome.
Loving the content, lots of memories of some old trucks and plant equipment. Really enjoy the relaxed presentation style, a joy to watch especially as you seem skilled at getting these old-timers running again. Big thanks too, to your camera and sound operator for doing such a good job
Hi Ken, Thanks very much, I am still learning with the technical side (especially the sound) but I am trying hard to make the viewers experience a good one. Thanks again, Bruce
I remember these trucks. The Army always painted the back of the rear diff white as some kind of marker at night I guess. My father had one but his was single drive with a 392V8 and 2 speed diff. There was a show on the ABC years ago called "Alice to nowhere" that had one driving through the desert with a 6V53 in it.
@@bruceinaus hey mate i have a 354 to replace the old 283 in my 6x6 aaco thats running on about 4 cylinders. how do you find these go with the perkins? are they overly underpowered?
I really love your show. I learn a lot. That old Tanker and some of the other trucks remind me of old Match Box toys I had as a kid. My dad would bring home in his lunch box on pay days if I'd been good. That was when Lindsey toys made them in England in the early 1970's. I still have a precious handful.
I hate seeing old trucks like this rot to scrap. They are 100 times more badass (to me at least) than any new trucks. Thanks for giving her some attention that she deserves.
I'm currently in the middle of a brake reconditioning job on our museum 6X6 AACO. Ours is petrol powered as were all the military jobbies originally. The air over hydraulic brake system could only have been engineered by frustrated Land Rover designers, it's absolutely madness, all that complexity for something that fails if the brake shoes are not kept 100% adjusted.
G'day Bruce , great work mate! I remember riding around in 4x4 version of this Acco when I was a kid in cadets at school. Great to see one brought to life again. Unusual for the aircleaner to be in the cab?
Oh Bruce ya'll touched it in just the right way. Maybe turning into a fire fighting tanker with a small pump motor to run around your neighborhood and knock down fires. Could save your life or conversely if a mistake is made. A foam attachment might go well.
Good old Perkins 6354 with what looked like a CAV DPA injection pump, as long as they're not completely knackered and/or moisture hasn't got into them they'll usually go again after standing for years with fresh diesel a bleed and priming, if you're gonna restore the truck i'll watch.
Hi Steve, the cab is pretty rusty but it could possibly be replaced. It’s missing a few brake parts but seems otherwise complete. We are going to get it driving to see how the driveline is and make a decision from there. Thanks for watching, Bruce.
@@bruceinaus Thanks for the reply Bruce, agreed it does depend how the rest of the drive line works as to whether it's viable to restore the vehicle, but I'll keep a lookout for anymore videos.
Some dipstick smashing all the glass on the truck didn't help to preserve the cab interior from rust. There is a similar ACCO 6X6 ex Army (in much better condition) sitting for years in a front yard at Cookamidgera NSW if you would like another Bruce!
Some of them get sent for scrap but we live in a farming community so there is plenty of this type of stuff that becomes redundant or retired to paddocks or rural properties
Hey Bruce,,I know that old girl,,she was sitting in behind the trees at Maryborough scrap yard,,I was going to get her 10 years ago haha ,,you a good bloke I'd love to meet mate ,,
Hello Dean, that’s where it got dragged out of, it’s in pretty poor condition and I’m not sure if I can get it driving at this stage but I’ll try, thanks for the comment, Bruce
@@bruceinaus I'm watching you loader video now ,,I left the bay 10 years ago ,,mate if I'd of known people like you ,I'd of stayed,,you a top bloody Aussie bloke mate ,, also Steve's place down under is tops ,,we should all catch up one day over a bit of old junk n a few cold sandwiches
G'day Bruce. Subsciber here and a big fan of what you do. Love your videos. I was wondering what you'll be doing with these trucks in the future? Reson being, i have an ex army AACO like this one with a mint condition cab and tipper on it that has been stored out of the weather for most of its life by the looks of it, only problem is that when i bough it out west in New South i bought it as a chassis up job because sadly someone has robbed it of its diffs, engine and box. Would you consider selling this one at all? Would definitely help me get mine on the road again. Let me lnow if youre interested in that and i'll send my email and then phone number so we can have a chat. Good onya for doing what your doing. Cheers mate.
Hi Ben, I havent really thought about selling as i now have it moving but still a bit of clutch work to do before the next video to test it out driving offroad. Send your email through and we can have a chat, Bruce
That poor old ACCO C series " Blitz Wagon " is in terrible shape . Trusty old MECHANICAL Diesel . Easy-ish to get running again . Perkins 6's were great Engines . That Engine might go well in the BEDFORD if the ACCO cant be saved .
Thanks very much John, unfortunately you are right, cab in really bad condition. The clutch is seized but I’ll change the master cylinder and see if I can get it driving to test the running gear then I will work out where to go from there. Thanks for commenting, Bruce
Only for the Army . P 1 2 3 s Mark 1 2 3 4s Fs The civilian versions had twin head lights and other unique differences Their acronyms are AACO later on ACCO

Forgot how satisfying the Perkins sounds. Used to catch front engine Bedford VAM buses home from school with Perkins power. That brought me back.
They are very smooth running aren’t they, thanks for watching, Bruce
It never fails to amaze me how these old diesels engines want to fire up 20 years later and start working again.
I have personally found that old diesels are usually easier to get running than petrols. Bruce.
try this with a tesla or any other modern crap, there will be no barn finds restoring vids in the future

Thats pretty awesome it ran with minimal intervention after such a long time
Thanks Ben, some trouble getting the diesel pump/throttle/stopper mechanism to work correctly but we got there in the end, Bruce

It has a machine gun turret on the roof so definitely ex army.
