If Joey doesn’t want the puppy to pee in the house, don’t allow puppy pads, you’re teaching the dog it’s okay to go inside, their brains need to realize to only pee outside. Crate train the puppy or deal with the consequences the rest of its life
As an owner of a city dog, I had great success using pee pads inside first when Buster was a baby and it was freezing outside of my third floor walk up. then I began moving the pads outside when Buster would seem to need to go and give him attention/a treat when he went on the pad outside. eventually he would just go in the same spot outside where the pads had been outside. Positive reinforcement is key! Also they piss so much as puppies it’s rly hard to keep up and having pads inside is realistic
I love Nana, but I called this when I heard he was gettting a Chihuahua puppy. People will fight me on this, but I've been around so many dogs to know that little dogs are the hardest to potty train. Especially where Joey lives in an apartment, that little thing isnt going to be able to hold it until he gets downstairs. Get used to the piddle pads, babe! I'm very particular about my house as well, thats why I could never have a dog. Good luck, Joe.
Here are some basic training tips - You need to crate train the puppy and get him on a schedule. -Put dog in crate overnight. It’s sad but this is what they need to do. He’ll eventually stfu -The second you open the crate on the morning you MUST take him out for walk to pee. -Then half hour after feeding them. Maybe less . Take the dog out to poop and pee. -puppy needs to be on a schedule - do not leave food and drink out for him to graze throughout the day or he’ll pee and poop at all times - food and water needs to be put down on a schedule
Puppies are always going to bite! He will grow out of it, you just have to consistently re-direct. When he bites, tell him no, take your hand away and give him a toy to bite instead! He’s teething, all puppies go through that biting phase (and many humans as well)!
Puppies need to be let outside or walked outside frequently for bathroom breaks. He can go out leashed in a small area outside to learn his surroundings. You literally have to take him out every hour as a puppy to train. Good Luck 🍀
My boyfriend’s dog was a terrible biter as a puppy. Same thing, he ate through the bitter apple spray. The only thing that worked was to yelp and cry like a wounded puppy and he immediately knew it was wrong, felt remorse, and packs on the love. Godspeed
No this is what you do if someone you are dating smells: You sniff around and be like what is that smell? Smell yourself and be like “is it me???” And then sniff him and be like oh no it’s you babe
Joey no offense but maybe you shouldn’t have started out with a puppy 😂😂 this is how they are, they’re literal babies. Or maybe you should’ve just got a cat lmfao
I got a puppy at the same time as Nana, she’s older & much more powerful. I wish I could tell Joey it gets better with the puppy behaviors- my pup still chews, nips, etc. But it does get better with the potty training. I tell people I either love or hate my dog. I mean ofc I love her all the time, but when she eats my trim or wall…. I can’t get mad I just have to be displeased & say “well she’s a puppy” & move on. I call my dog “demon dog” when she’s a wild animal. Or funny evil nicknames. It makes it better. & an annoying situation a little funnier. But puppy life is the trenches, that’s why they call it “puppy blues”
Nana with postpartum D sent me 😂 and Trish is on fire this episode! Good job guys!!
