All eyes on India in 2023 as country holds G20 presidency and chairs SCO

2023 is the year of India as the country began its presidency of G20 and Shanghai Corporation Organisation. G20 Summit is held annually under a rotating presidency, which currently rests with India for 2023. Under PM Modi’s leadership, India will showcase its global leadership and set an agenda accordingly. The MEA and PMO will be having a busy schedule this year as some important events are on the line. The world is having high expectations from India’s G20 presidency. The theme of this year G20 is 'One World, One Family, One Future'. Members nations lauded India’s theme of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”. 43 Heads of Delegations- largest ever in G20 will be participating in the Summit
India holds the presidency of the G20 on December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023. World leaders including Joe Biden, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping will visit India in September. Other than G20, India is also holding presidency of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation this year
India took over the presidency of the nine-member group SCO in September 2022. The country has sent invitations to all members for the upcoming foreign ministers’ meet in May
Other meets of SCO are also lined up this year including that of Chief Justices of the member nations. Russia, Pakistan and China are some of the key members of SCO other than India. The invitations have been sent to all the member nations including China and Pakistan.
