In this video, I demonstrate two methods of "importing" the chord track from one project into another project. Enjoy! Great video! I'd like to add, that you can also copy the chords like you showed in the second method, close the project, open a new project and then paste the chords. There is no need to have both projects open at the same time. Have a great day!
Josh, you are the best!! Thank you so much. I used method 1 and immediately brought my chords into my mix project. So easy to do. From now on, I'll create a CHORDS track in every project I do and it will be the first thing I import into my mix. HB
I figured out a cool way to semi-auto import a chord progression from a midi track using the session player. 1. Drag the MIDI chord progression onto the session player strip. 2. Set the session player MIDI internal in instrument input to itself. 3. Create a chord track, set midi input on chord entry panel, set playhead at start of midi, press play and on each chord change you hear press tab. Slow down the tempo so you can hear the changes better. Make sure you set snap to a resolution where you can capture quick changes. I wish Logic had a chord analysis feature for imported midi. I also wish you could enter in chords using NNN (1 2 3 4 5 6 7) or roman numeral (I, ii, iii etc.)
If you have a chord track that you like, drag create a session player track from the chord under it (keyboards) and then drag that session region into your loops browser. It creates a loop with that chord progression imbedded. Then you can name it etc. and preview/use it like any other loop. You will find it under "My Loops" under "Show All"
When you add an Apple loop at the beginning of a project and it has more than one chord it adds the chords to the chord track. You can also do this buy opening the chord track and placing the multi chord loop on the chord track it will paste them there.
I watched your videos three years ago, and I learned a lot from them. Thank you! I have only one problem: when I listen to something inside Logic, the sound is good. However, after I export it to MP3, the sound becomes quieter. I’ve tried many things, but nothing works. If you can help me, I would really appreciate it.❤
I just drag the MIDI Region in the Chord Track format into the Loop Browser, Logic then converts it to an Apple Loop with the Chords EMBEDDED onto it. Now that Chord Track MIDI region is available in all future projects. I've been very slowly converting my green Apple Loop Chord library into the new Chord Track format. Hopefully some day soon we'll be able to take any MIDI region with chords in it and drag it up to the Chord Track area, and Logic automatically adds those chords into the Chord Track.
Strangely enough, if you use the old music memos app on an ancient iPad or iPhone and then share it with logic 11 - the chords magically appear on the project!
Dragging and dropping a MIDI region with an instrument on it to the desktop will only spit out an audio file. Removing the instrument, then clicking and dragging to desktop, does nothing. You CAN export a MIDI region as a MIDI file, but MIDI files do not retain the region chords. I wish it were that easy.

Such a huge oversight by Apple. Also missing: chord track in the piano roll view! Great workarounds!!!

WOW, that rocks!

very helpful, thanks
🙌🏻 as usual!

Josh rockin the black flag 👍
Can I pull an audio track into project and make session player (Keyboard) follow the audience track?
is there a way to extract chords from samples and use them in the chord window like dragging them up?
Oh, if only.
When I try to drag a chord progression into chord track it has a lock sign . How do I resolve this ?

You can click, hold and drag the region and drop it on desktop… and then import to the new project.

@ I stand corrected 🙂
Thank you for sharing this
Great tip Thanks!
