Thanks for posting this. If I had a quid for every hour I spent train spotting here I would be a very rich bloke, albeit it the late 50's & early 60's.Standards, Black five's Jubs & Scott's. Anyone remember the evening freight that stopped here, "The Condor" ? Always double headed by a pair of horrid looking Diesels, can not recall seeing a 9F or any other steam loco on it but hey, that was 50 years ago ! Thanks again,Barry Roberts.
I used to live in St Albans way back in the 1960s residing at 319 Hatfield Road and attending Beaumont Secondary School... A beautiful town which holds many fond memories for me...
I spent many hours in the early seventies alongside the Schwepes factory spotting here for 45s, 46s, 47s, 25s,.26s and even occationaly a 44. Watching the Peaks lean against the curve in 1 and 2, I can even remember the old steam shed of the south end of 4 and a Saturday Black 5 visit to pick up stock from the coal yaer that was adjacent track 4, great days
@mrbluenun No, that wasn't a pullman it was Network Rail's 'New Measurement Train' or NMT - a sort of track tester that runs along the main lines. Are you in the US? Because actually this is perfectly normal, and there are hundreds of vids of UK stations and trains on youtube!
I am not a Train Expert but I think it was a 'Pullman' going slowly through the Station at 4.30 minutes? The modern trains are fine, but the Pullman type, if I am correct, offer more privacy and comfort. Can you not go into the edit suit to change the Name? A pretty unusual UK video on trains going through one particular Station. There is lots dealing with the same part of track in the States, but I have not found many that show more than a few seconds of any "English" UK Trains. Take care.
