I've been playing this mod for a year. It's pretty imbalanced, but still fun. Genetron is the best overall, Xayid has best late game, and Keiron is protoss 2.0
@@mechwarreir2 This is a bit of a hot take when compared to the general consensus among the players who participated in the tournaments. Seems everyone agrees that Xayid is weakest in late-game. We didn't see enough Genetron in the tournament to make any real comparisons in Genetron vs Keiron late-game though. I'd be curious for you to more fully explain your perspective though.

Though I would say it is one of the hardest compositions to transition to and requires significant knowledge on unit interactions in all the matchups, but at full potential controlled by a strong player (preferably GM+), Xayid imo is the strongest.
It was interesting to see. You can see some of it in lowko's twitch vod for last Saturday. I think because they're slower games with less activity they're hard to cast. But I liked seeing dark try to adapt, since he didn't really know how to play mod races at all. 😂
Solstice did a really good job of making sure the OG races keep key unique benefits over the custom races. He didnt let new mechanics and abilities step on the toes of their OG counterparts.
I would LOVE to see more casts of this mod. It looks really cool and seems to be balanced fairly well. Id love to see more of the custom races as well as the matchups between the custom races vs SC2 races. Like imagine Zerg vs Xayid, or Protoss vs Keiron. This is so cool Sidebar: The forcefield animation around the Citadel looks like it might be the asset used for the Psi Emitter from the HoTS campaign
It looks amazing ! And it is funny, as someone who is part of the modelmaking community of sc2 for years, I can almost instantly tell from which pieces of units the custom models are made of :D
Yes please, I would love to see our favorite pro players in this custom race cup! The Keiron build animation really reminds me of the Aeon Illuminate from Supreme Commander - that race built their structures and units from pools of molten metal.
Would be great if you familiarized yourself and introduced the races via a few more videos for sure Lowko! I've seen a number of games with custom races at this point but I still have almost no clue what the upgrades and counters are.
Keiron may be inspired from Aeon from Supreme Commander, they bare strong resemblance in how they build stuff and in appearance. Probably why they look so freaking cool! :P
Lowko, seeing how fun these races seem to you i really recommend you checking out the All Races Coop arcade mod. Basically it's normal StarCraft co-op but: - (With Standard Co-op Commanders)There are 10 adittional playable factions, including all three Scion races + the winners of the Custom Races Contest. You casted one of them before: The Hybrids - There are 16 new Enemy Faction you can play against (or AS) including those mentioned above + T/P/Z Factions using all of the different unit types that the Commanders use - There are 32 new playable missions from the RTC 2017 Blizzard Contest (Some of them are clunky but there are some that actually work as amazing new Co-op Missions, I can list you the best working ones if you want) - You can play up to 3 players against Amon on all of the maps (I think, I'm sure of the orignal StarCraft maps tho :P) - You can play AS Amon using the chosen enemy faction against these 3 Commander players (From what I've seen the creators of the mod are even planning to add not only all of the Nexus Co-Op Mod commanders but the WarCraft 3 Races too xD) From the experience I can say that with right people this Mod can be so much fun, I wouldn't even recommend going on different discords during the game, just pick the Casual Difficulty for the longest objective timers and make up rules during the game. Have Fun :D
I think it's so cool to see new races, the way they play feels so unique and also it's fun to visualize how the Protoss have to adjust on the fly to defend against this new alien threat!
Super fun. I'm making an RTS game myself, using a little bit of the gameplay from SC2 - but something far less rigid and narrow in terms of tactical options players can use. I'm really enjoying the fresh gameplay that comes out of this mod. The unit designs are also really nice. I've messed around a bit in SC2 modding and I'm pretty sure none of what is done here is easy to do at all! Hard work in an old game engine. Well done to the creators and I hope they get more recognition.
Im so happy that you mix in something diffrent from the normal casts, because i can watch them all day, but these are giving some kind of breather. I think this makes the channel even more interesting. I personaly think it would be a good thing to see 2 Videos a week not being a pro game. Viewer games are always so fun, but it seems like you don't like casting them anymore. Some more highlight stream videos from time to time would be nice too, even tho ther are some of them sometimes.
If Keiron would be added as an actuall fraction in the SC2 univers i wouldn't be to suprised. It is really well rounded, hast super good distinguish designs and overall they look so nice. I remember from you casting it some years ago, there was a unit that could throw some sort of basketball at enemys that would make more damage the more far the enemy would be from the unit. I also love the hamster balls xD, they are invisible out of combat. That is such a coooool idea!!!!! Such a cool fraction. If it would be a playable race, this would be mine!!
It's the keiron siege unit, it's actually the opposite, since the attack needs to come back to the unit to be launched again it does less dps when far away but has 12 max range (siege tanks have 13) so they can be used to counter tanks paired with the unit that can heal shield
plus they are invisible until they attack and deal much more damage when uncloacking ! you can also upgrade them to immediately cloak after attacking but they take 15 damage on their life each attack. It doesn't seem so great but the damage output is insane. great unit for harass !
A great storyline for this wo uld be how the new races appear in SC 3, SC 4, SC 5 etc. with eventually GEnetron getting more and more ruthless like the Borg to the point where there is no option but to bring back the Overmind to save all.
How do I play the custom races? I found some campaign games under Arcade, but I would like to just do a 1v1 against AI to try out the new races. Is that possible? I have tried a couple of the campaigns and they are very well done, and hard. Major props to the mod designer.

I love this so much! Every time I think I saw everything the races have to offer, they showcase something new. That's just so much fun. And it really seems very well balanced, too. Please make more videos of those! Maybe consider using some interface that allows for tooltips checking, if that's a thing.
Definitely some interesting mods, the battle did seem to go back and forth for quite a while, without one side clearly having the upper hand very soon into the game.

I love how this mod brings out new unit compositions from the existing races. Stalker, phoenix, mothership is not a composition you see every day! I would love to see more casts from this mod. Maybe a video of you playing it as well
Yeah as someone who's trying to figure out new metas with old races against these new ones, it's super exciting to find something new which works well. I've found for protoss against keiron, one of the most efficient compositions you can make in the late game is colossi Tempest, sometimes with Disruptors. Furthermore, none of these races have ravagers or ghosts so all of a sudden sentry based compositions aren't such a poor idea even into the early late game.
Let’s hope Microsoft if they decide to make SC3… Make it so that story wise is set like 1000 or more years in to the future, where you won’t have many classic units or none at all, because we don’t need remastered SC2 with few new units, and or destroy story like Disney did with SW sequels 7,8,9( not talking about TV shows, way better than those Disney 💩 movies). Back to the point, gameplay similar to SC 1and2 but with some new mechanics, but still StarCraft.
1000 years in the future is a great suggestion. LotV tied off most of the character plots so cleanly that I've worried they didn't really leave themselves a place to take the plot for SC3. A big time jump would be a great way to take the game into a new story and style.
the way the keiron build their structures reminds me of how the Aeon in supreme commander build where they create a pool of quicksilver metal that slowly forms into the building or unit
Keiron's unit mechanic is funky. All but upgrade structure produces charges over time, and the max of these charges are limited based on structures. You spend these charges along with resource from your Citadel (the main building where workers pop out) to warp in units within Citadel's range. Also the "cooldown" in your Citadel basically makes your units including your workers move faster. Really useful for repositioning in defense, but I personally found it to be better as a resource ability since your workers also move around faster while gathering Oh and yes, their structures that enable flying units are all.also fluing buildings. You dont always need to make them in dead space, but it saves on real estate in your main and helps with crowding, sonce Keiron mains tend to be overflowing with structures that all independently produce charges
That mod looks AWESOME ! The first game did not looked very balanced, but it might be just me being used to the good old basic units. The Rest of series was surprisingly very fast-paced and action packed; just what I would expect from a good gameplay. Like the majority here - I'd love to see more casts of those ;)
Man even just a 4th race would be awesome. Blizz should have these guys just focus on one of these races and get it perfect to introduce into the game somehow. Certainly would breath new life into the game! Or all of them haha they all def have really cool ideas
I think these game design ideas are very stormgate like, which is super cool. Like, structures that have other use than only giving supply, units that have clear strengths and weaknesses but high micro potential, etc
The Xayid play like an infested Terran from the UED gained control of the swarm and sort of just mashed the old Starcraft Broodwar Terran templates on Zerg Bioforms.
Crazy that a modder managed to balance his custom races against each other as well as against the normal races!! Just wish all of them were viable both early, mid and late game
If hero was unprepared, I'm not really interested. I feel like we wouldn't see him at his best. Dark games, though, sound fun! I like myself some turtle matches :D

There were better games to cast than Dark and Hero, like Gerald actually adapted extremely well compared to the other two.

All vanilla races are weaker compared to Scion races. Genetron can play just like Terran while having a zerg-like economy.

The Keiron reminds me a lot of Supreme Commander (Aeon build from grey pools, Cybran bipedal light assault bots, etc)

The mendlings actually look like a kitbash of both the queen and the lurker, they got lurker legs and spines but queen posture and attack animations

Detector and transport unit in one was in SC1. Also served as supply, so it was way overpowered.
