That’s a great looking light. I have a ton of lights, too and I use them for everything. And if you want to see tool abuse just mount a light with a too weak magnet under a hood and have it land on my head, you’ll see tool abuse! I don’t think I would have that pro with this!
I literally just searched Koon Trucking lights just to get an idea of what you recommend. Lo and behold this was posted mere minutes ago. Thanks Clay you never disappoint!
It looks a bit tougher than those similar-looking blue lights that Harbor Freight used to give away as freebies (back in the day when Harbor freight gave away freebies). I gave my Harbor Freight light a bath in some acetone and it started ot melt.
Great review, could you one day do a review of long lasting, the “test of time” review on some tools….like a snap on digital torque wrench that’s been used and cycled and what’s has broke or works same as new zero issues, showing some longevity so to speak.
@@KoonTruckinggood to know, have some Astro lights coming as well as snap on larger folding led ….done with Braun from harbor freight as switches fail prematurely
There is no better tool company, customer service-wise, than Astro Pneumatic. I own many of their tools and I look forward to buying many more (including this light)!
I have never owned a ASTRO tool. I guess I always considered them more on the cheaper quality side. If their tools are anything like that light then I will definitely take a closer look.
@@randysmith9636 Cheaper price but not cheap quality. Their lights are fantastic! Their heavy duty suspension tools aren't as good as Snap-On but their value is unparalleled. I've used my Astro ball joint kit to death and it's never broken or failed. Even 200,000 mile rust belt F-350 ball joints couldn't defeat the tool.
@@djosbun Thanks. I do love my Snap On tools and in my opinion they are some of the best on the market. I do spend the money on them because I personally feel they are worth it. But having said that, they do not have the market cornered on quality and toughness. The trick is finding companies that have that same level of quality and durability. Everyone claims that they are just as good as Snap On but only costs 12.50 compared to 900. Endorsements such as yours, someone who actually uses them more than that one time at uncle Joe's shop means something. So Thank you. That's why I watch this channel, I respect his opinion.
Can it survive being drown in a pan full of coolant, oil and how does the material react to heat like in the engine room? Also I miss a strap or something with a signal flag on it….imagine the magnet sit under the car and you forget to remove the light. This dark blue color acts like camo to me
Hey Clay, gotta question for ya. My boss was debating on getting some lights. He checked out the new Stinger, but was looking for more of a magnetized light. I’m trying to convince him to get us the Astro set. I’m talking about the this one, the stick light, and the charging base. Do you know if it’s available anyone other than dealers? The only place I’ve found that bundle so far is Joe and Techs Choice. He wanted a part number for the set.
@@KoonTrucking I’ve seen em separately and 52SL with charger on Amazon, but I was looking for that combo Joe had (52SL, 1000SL, and charging base). Only other place I’ve found it is TechsChoice. Im thinkin it was a dealer special. Oh well, thanks anyway.
Well I’m sold and since my wife stole my 52sl to look for deer and rabbits and the goats outside plus to help see in corners and under things in the house I got to have a new light.
How much are they? And which truck re brands them and puts their name on em. By the way, I thought I had a cat in my house, freaked me out as my door was open to let dog out and I figured a cat came in ha ha
Thinking you made a great test on this item I've had lights that after 3 drops were not working properly and I disposed of them as well Gravity is definitely the worst enemy of the shop/work light Any one have the wireless charger besides the trucks
How does the switch hold upon the Astro lights you have….my harbor freight specials the switch seems to go bad?
What happened to the Mac truck
Where your Mac man at?
What happened to ol macdaddy Michael?
Koon Trucking reluctantly agreed to torture test these lights on Astro's behalf. Thanks for showcasing these new lights, I'll be grabbing one soon.
Are you no longer doing MAC tool truck videos?
It’s been hard getting our schedules together.
They were really cool videos, hopefully in the future things will work out.
If you didn’t notice that was 24 drops on camera with two of them being extremely high. I would think it’s safe to say this is one tough light!
What I don’t understand is why doesn’t any tool come with the nub to be able to plug the usb charging cord into the outlet????
Thank you for the review, I too have a 52sl . Going to go look for one now.

Astro lights are fantastic. I got me and my dad one. Best tool purchase ever
I have 2 of the 52SL lights. The magnetic charger charges both at the same time. Definitely going to pick this up. Great video!!!!!

Yeah acetone melts plastic.
Great video and product. Any word on when Mac Daddy will be back?
Been hard getting our schedule together on Thursday
Great review and torture test!
Looks like the haul master step ladder also handles brake clean

Still have this light and even after all the torture it went through still works perfectly and holds a charge no issues at all

Love your videos the Best can you boss make a video when kind advice you will give for new technicians on the field tanks
It’s about time they released more lights for that charging pad!
Will be getting one or a few of these instead of snap on lights
MSRP?? I may have missed it. Thanks for another great video.

What brand air compressor is that in the back of that pickup. What’s the specs?
It’s an ingersall rand head with Honda compressor on and ole upright electric tank. I covered it in my budget service truck tour
@@KoonTrucking thanks
I love Astro lights! I have their 700 lumen lights and they were a lifesaver while working on my car's suspension.
Your car reminds me of my cat Boo cept mine would have run like hell when the light hit the ground.
He’s used to things dropping and loud noises etc
How'd it hold up now? Still working?
Yes, these lights are tough as hell
That hurt watching that 🤦♂️
Are you cutting back on the video's haven't seen any mac video's in a while
Hey Clay, any longterm effects on the rubber from the brake clean yet?
Nope the light is a tank.
What is the astro light you daily again
The 52SL
Well I’m sold and since my wife stole my 52sl to look for deer and rabbits and the goats outside plus to help see in corners and under things in the house I got to have a new light.
My Astro light is still my favorite and the one my guys and I go to first every time...
You should have stuck it to the frame of a truck and take it for a drive and see if it holds on for the ride
UNCLE, UNCLE, UNCLE
I give,
I have to admit I was saying ok, it's tough, you can stop dropping it now.
We haven’t seen Bill in a long time. Where is he working at now?
He’s been gone almost two years

You should have used crc in the green can and try dropping it in a bucket of hydraulic oil and see what happens
I think I proved it is tough
@@KoonTrucking i agree but will it hold up to chemicals is my concern i work on big trucks and yellow iron so i am around a lot of hydraulic fluid

Astro makes the chargers also. That’s the one in the video
👍👍
I know that killed you but good video great lights
It better be tough not exactly a cheap light
Not all valid since in reality you know we won’t do our likes this way only time can tell but so far I think it’s good in my book
Everyone’s bit thing is in all the other light reviews “is it tough enough for brake cleaner” or “can it handle a drop”
Wouldda rather hung out with MAC DADDY Michael today but I suppose this'll do in a pinch.
Painful to watch, I would never throw a tool 🤬😂
