  • The 'We Three' were Mr. Lovejoy (Harry Korris) who was the manager of the supposed variety hall 'The Happidrome', with Ramsbottom (Cecil Frederick) as his stage manager and straight man. Enoch (Robbie Vincent) completed the trio as the silly callboy with his famous catchphrase of 'Let me tell you!' A varied mix of entertainers were presented sandwiched in between the going-on of the hapless threesome. The show was first broadcast in 1941 when guests included Lily Morris and Tommy Handley. The last show was broadcast on 26th December 1947. The Radio programme spawned several stage shows and many 78rpm recordings as well as the 1943 MGM feature film. All three stars made other films mainly appearing with Frank Randle in several of his 'Somewhere in ...' Mancunian Films Productions. The story of The Mancunian Film Corporation and its founder John E. Blakeley is still available here www.angelfire.c...

My dear late mother, a girl during the second World War, often spoke of listening to 'We Three Happidrome'. It is lovely to see hear them for myself, it does bring tears to my eyes. I am so glad she could enjoy such innocent during such terrible times. I will be with one day dear mum❤

A friend started singing the signature tune today and I was able to join in. Amazing that we could remember the words after nearly seventy years. Good to see that these programmes that kept us entertained durng the war haven't been forgotten!

I recently bought Paul McCartney's CD 'Kisses On The Bottom' on which he sings 'We Three' (My Echo, My Shadow and Me.) Remembering how I used to listen to Happidrome as a child, I couldn't help changing the words to Ramsbottom and Enoch and Me, but I couldn't remember the actors who played those characters. I sent a letter to the Daily Mail 'Answers To Readers Questions'. but they didn't publish it. So I'm grateful for this site which gave me the answer and let me listen to the song.
