  • Using basic household materials, we will construct an awesome windscreen.
I have now used this windscreen for a few projects as well as for a few of my other videos, and I am pleased to say that it works better than I had ever imagined it would.

I love the cuts he did when sewing and putting on the zip ties

Nice one! It worked well. I've used foam, shadecloth and stocking material in the past and I've found that space between the material and the capsule is more effective than having the material right next to the capsule although that can make for a bulky windshield. Never thought about the gutter-guard though.

Great project! I was just looking on amazon for the fuzzy windscreens but I think I'll try this one first...thanks!

I use this recorder for youtube videos and the occasional school project. I am currently using my latest camera stabilizer (video coming soon) to film RC races for a local club. But I mostly do it because I enjoy it. It's like photography, most people just do it for the heck of it because they enjoy it. In my opinion life's the best when you have goals to work towards.

Very nice. I'm going to build something very similar. Loved the Audio test you did. That is the critical part.

Nice job! I made my own as well for the small shotgun DSLR top mount microphone and put up a how to video on that. Thank you for showing the difference in sound quality, great tutorial! :)

Good solution, the second test was better as the windscreen removed some of the low level background sounds & made your narrative more clean. I'm using the same solution for a blimp enclosure & 'Dead Cat'.

The Idea is good but, here in France it is very difficult to buy products in small quantities. To buy synthetic fur you have to take at least 50 cm x 150 cm which already costs 22 €. The plastic mesh is at least 2 m at 10 €, plus the small tools to doing it we easily have to spend for 50 € in total . You find it for half of this price in in Alibaba.

Despite of the lack of instructions, it is possible to get the whole idea.
    Well done !!

hey forest ive been subscribed ever since i watched the water bottle bomb 6 years ago and ive seen every video since. i cant get enough of this channel and ive never found another like it. i have a suggestion tho: i like the videos where you show your face rather than being behind the camera the whole time it makes them better idk why. like i said ive seen every video youve ever made and not alot of them show your face and it makes me connect to your video and channel more. keep em comin forest!

if anyone is interested, i have used fake fur and tested it and made a clear sample video with different scenarios. this is proof that it really does work en the guy above is telling you some good information !!👍
although i made mine from only fake fur and placed it in my backpack i should give you a good indication on how much it's actually helps.

I imagine there is space between the mics and the cage, does that help? I mean I was going to make a deadcat with just fur which would touch the mics. . . . not a good idea?

    • @komali2
      @komali2 3 года назад

in my experience those little mics pick up literally ANY amount of physical contact. I have to be super careful even when I have mine on a mount because just the sound of my hand moving on the mount is loud AF. So yea make sure nothing touches the mics.

can you use a beer can for the frame if you cut the beer can and use some inch or 2 thick foam as a substitute for the fur ?

No you can't. It would affect the sound too much imho.

good youtubers make quality videos because they enjoy video production as well as creating the highest quality content for their viewers. I would much rather people have some fun enhancing their channel rather than filming videos with their potato phones and calling it good to make a few bucks.
