Oh my God! This is one of the worst Sonic games I've ever played. In this game the blue hedgehog has to collects 3 keys in each level, but he is slow as a snail and we now the most important feature of Sonic is the speed. Using the spin dash is a mess, because the game uses a 3D isometric overhead view similar to that of Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island. I have even been hit by the 3rd boss area but the boss battles are very easy and boring like all the game, the only challenge is to control the damned spin dash and it is very frustrating. -

A few things from the manual you guys need to know:
Eggman replaced Sonics shoes with slow down boots
Sonic can't take off the shoes because it was made with the power of the chaos emeralds
The entire labyrinth where this game takes place in is Eggman land
Tails Adventure and sky patrol are happening at the same time as this game hence why Tails can't help remove the shoes
Tails Skypatrol, because Tails Adventure is a prequel (at least in Japan)
Wasn't it said that the Game Gear games take place after Sonic 3 & Knuckles?

This comes across to me as a Sonic 3D Blast prototype. I'd rather collect the keys from Labyrinth than the Flickies from 3D Blast, because they keys stay in one place.

Yes, but the movement in Sonic 3D Blast is wayyyy smoother and the songs are bereable
I've noticed a strange way on how the speed depends on how long you took to complete it, but I figured it out:
Let's say you beat the level in 1'08, that means you had 68 seconds left. Multiply that by 5 and there's your speed score: 340km/h
I'll give you a hint why Sonic is slow: Eggman replaced his shoes with a slower pair.

Yeah I mean there's nothing wrong with a game franchise trying something different. FFX got rid of traditional leveling up and almost no one complained.

@@beefandmustardgaming666 hyper sonic just affected the player sprite (screen if you air dash (completely optional)) in sonic labyrinth whenever you get speed shoes or invincibility the entire bacround flashes for about 10 seconds

I do think it's for the best that the 3DS VC version was modified to tone down that damn flashing, though. I'm not afflicted by epilepsy, but damn does it get aggravating to look at!
If you know what you're doing, this game can be completed in less than an hour, let alone 30 minutes. That's how short this game is. Look at this guy's time. He completed this game in less than 17 minutes.

@@vittosphonecollection57289 well, if I had to choose, I'd pick 3D blast over this any day, I'm sorry, but Labyrinth isn't very well paced. Even if you want, you can't really go fast. And the mechanics aren't fluid. So, yeah, no wonder people overlook this game. It's not worth anyone's time other than to launch it once for curiosity's sake.

@@vittosphonecollection57289 Ah, yeah, 2D Blast is indeed slow. Not as painful to play as Labyrinth though. I've just tried Labyrinth yesterday and it exceeds the 'ugh' level of annoyance by a huge margin when compared even to 2D Blast :D

Actually an underrated game. I never understood all the whining from people who feel Sonic needs to be fast ALL the time. Part of what made this game is the fact his speed is taken away from him. It makes the gameplay more tense.

@mkeufish Remember, people hate things that are different. However, if they grew up with something that has a similar concept, then it's immune to their earlier complaints because nostalgia and it CAN'T be anything like that "other" thing. Basically, these types of people don't know what they want and live to complain.
It's the reason why the Sonic fanbase is so toxic the last few years. Every small little change in a new game makes the game immediately bad or something, and it's so frustating cause they are always the loudest voices. Can we all just chill and be positive about Sonic for a change?

To think I stupidly bought this game on my old red 3DS instead of the GG title called Crystal Warriors! Yeah I actually regretted it but it’s nice to have in your collection of GG games so what can you do?

Probably the dumbest idea for a Sonic game ever. Eggman gave Sonic 'slow shoes'. Sounds like a 5 year old came up with it. But even then, I think even they would realize the game wouldn't be fun.

@@ikagura For real! It says so in the game manual for Sonic Labyrinth. Trust me. I had the Sonic Mega Collection Plus game for PlayStation 2. In Sonic Labyrinth, the shoes Sonic wore keep him from running around and jumping so all he can do in the game is walk around and perform his signature Spin Dash. Ok so heres the story of this.
Sonic noticed that he has slow boots and can't just speed all the up to eggman and he has to go through a labyrinth maze to reach the chaos emeralds so they can take the shoes off well this is a twisted and hard game indeed
I honestly liked the game as a kid. It didn't make much sense to me why sonic was moving so slow though. Something about slow down shoes made by robotnik I think?
yes. Nintendo, (YES, NINTENDO,) confirmed that in 2013 when this got re-released on the 3ds.

I have never heard of this one before. Looks like a scaled down Sonic 3D/ Sonic Blast type of idea. No developer seems to be able to make the Master System and Game Gear sound chips sound half decent though. Atrocious sound.

I got this as a wee lad for Christmas in 1995. There werent any other sonic games that year so Santa got me the only Sonic game on the market.
I had the game beat before the first aunt and uncle showed up for dinner. I may have asked my dad to push Santa off the roof so he could become Santa Claus next year because this one really blew it with the gift this year.
Anyway, thats the story of how I learned Santa wasnt real. My dad told me the truth about ten seconds later. I dont blame him.

I honestly didn't think this game's bad ever since the first time I played it (we have worse games out there such as Sonic Genesis on GBA and Sonic '06).
I will have to say though that Eggman's a genius for thinking about replacing Sonic's usual sneakers with slow down ones he made.
Sonic 06 is better than Sonic Labyrinth.

@Angel This game deserves to be the worst sonic game, horrible gameplay, rough level design, like having to play holes and having to wait for a platform from nowhere! in addition to the speed of Sonic, Sonic sometimes enters the wall and gets stuck. This game is a shame for the franchise.

Ever consider doing Totem Tribe RTS Lite or the Marooned hidden object games? They were some of my favorites and now I can't find them anywhere. Also the Starflyer games were decent. Just some suggestions.
