    Excellent 3 yr review! Because of you (mostly) I bought one today! However you do NOT have to order on-line first. I walked into my local Lowe's today and they had the sign up. "Free battery with purchase." I asked the salesman (Skylar) who was extremely helpful and courteous, and he told me yes, you get a free battery w/purchase. So I bought one in-store. He said they were out of the free batteries but one would be shipped to me at no charge. Sale ends 4-17 but free battery is good till 5-1.

      Good to know, my local Lowes must be confused then. My neighbor went to buy in store and it was on sale for $599 with no free battery. He asked the manager and they told him the free battery was online only. He had to go home and order online and wait for them to pick the order.

      Well, if they didn't give me one at the store, I was gonna tell them nowhere on their website does it say "Online only deal". The instore sign doesn't say that either. Perhaps every state is different?@@DoresoomReviews

    Nice! This video gives me a great deal of comfort.
    I just picked up this model with the extra free battery, along with the trimmer/leaf blower package with another battery. Total out the door for everything (mower, trimmer, blower, 1 x 7.5AH, 1 x 5AH & 1 x 4AH battery) was $825 + tax ($340 total savings for all the promotional sales they've got going right now).
    I've been on the fence about going electric for a while now, and wow am I super happy with it after the first mow. My grass was about a foot high in the tallest spots and this thing just ate right through everything with a much nicer finish than I expected. It did die a few times because the grass to bag chute was getting clogged up from the sheer amount of moist grass. Can't fault the mower for that and it shouldn't ever be that high again anyway so it's a non-issue.
    Also I did all that mowing, 5000sqft in the dark with the mower's headlight.
    I was really impressed with the trimmer as well. The operation was so quiet and smooth.
    My dogs were not a fan of the leaf blower, I was. The Turbo mode is insane!

    I bought that same mower in spring of 2020 when Home Depot was carrying it. First generation of the Select Cut with 7.5 amp battery. My review as I am now into my 5th season is that it is EXCELLENT!!
    Not one issue with the mower and the battery is holding a charge as it did on day one.
    All that I have done to maintain this mower is sharpen the blades every season.

    Mine has been going strong for 4 years. One thing I noticed is the batteries smaller than 7.5AH are basically useless on all of the ego tools. But with the big batteries these things work great.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Месяц назад +1

      I generally run my lawn mower on the 7.5Ah exclusively. The snow blower I usually use the 5Ah or the 7.5Ah. Anything handheld I usually go with the 5Ah, with the exception of the hedge trimmers which I always use with the 2.5Ah.

      It will be close, I'd plan on having at least an extra 5Ah battery if I were you. I have a mostly flat 1/6 acre with a pretty steep hill on one back corner. It usually has 3 of 5 bars left when I finish mowing, but sometimes it drops to 2 of 5 when the grass is extra tall.

      @@DoresoomReviews not just that. My original 5AH battery will just, out of the blue while I am mowing, flash the “orange light of the death.” I have to take out the battery, smack it a few times, and put it back in my mower and then it suddenly works fine until it happens again. The way they configure the cells there is a common issue within the motherboard I think. Watched lots of videos on RUclips many people experiencing same issue. Something on the motherboard burns out and causes the orange blinking light of death prematurely. Ego is aware of this issue and does not seem to want to rectify it. Yes, they will warranty your batteries when and if applicable and that’s great. I wish they would fix this issue with their batteries because they make fantastic tools.

      Got an update, I went to pick up the lawn mower just now. Then I decided to visit the pawn shop next door, where I found an ego chainsaw with a 5ah battery and charger for $150. That puts me at a mower, chainsaw, 7.5ah, and 5.0ah battery with 2 chargers for $650 plus taxes. The blade looks nearly new, so I'm hoping it was a "used once and forgotten about" purchase. Thanks for posting the video. I'm thinking about getting one. One thing I'm trying to figure out is the longevity. I know you mentioned you've had 0 maintenance in 3 years. That's not really an accomplishment considering most gas mowers last decades with minor maintenance every 3-5 years. My Lawnboy was bought new by my parents 27 years ago and it starts on the first pull still and I only change the oil every 3 years. But I'm wanting something better at mulching. The only thing keeping me from buying one is I don't want to buy a new one every 5 or even 10 years. I mean 10 years would probably be acceptable if it performed well. I'm 53 and know if I bought a Honda it could be the last mower I ever buy.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  Месяц назад

      Unfortunately this model is only three years old, so it's hard to say how it does beyond that. I've heard from other EGO owners that their previous generation mowers are still going at 8+ years.

      Thanks for replying. I’ve been watching a ton of comparison videos and looks like a model with a turbo button might meet my needs. I only have less than 1/4 acre yard but I love my grass to be relatively tall which makes it fall over a bit. I need something that can pull it up to cut it. I’m not even sure my expectations are achievable tho.

    I have had this mower since it came out and have found it leaves a trail of cut clippings along the left side of mowing regardless using the mulching blade or the high lift blade. That is very annoying and I will not mow over it twice to get the trail of clippings. It should not do this. I want to mow the lawn once and have the cut quality good the first time. I am not cutting tall grass either. I am assuming it needs more torque and power. Other than that, I think it is a ok mower but can not have a trail of cut clippings along the left side.
