  • Gurez valley starts from Kel and last point in Pakistan is Taobat. Taobat is four and a half hour jeep drive from Kel. The valley is one of the most beautiful valleys on earth. All along the way, the mountain road winds up along Neelum river (Kishan Ganga). There are many beautiful waterfalls along the way where you can take a break for photos and relaxation. The mountains are lush green and local wooden houses are scattered all along the valley adding to its beauty. In between Kel and Taobat, you can stop at Sardari or Janwai where you can have tea or light meals in local shops (nothing fancy). Local walnuts are worth a try. When you cross Janwai, you will have to show your original CNIC and just before Taobat, your CNIC will be taken by Army personnel and returned to you when you return (since this is the last point before LOC and then India starts). You can have nice lunch (including fresh water trout) and there are local hotels at Taobat where you can stay for the night if you wish. You can return to Kel if you leave Kel early and will still have quite some time to enjoy the Gurez valley, its waterfalls, local wood houses as well as time at Taobat.
