nobody talked about this, so I'm surprised, but you can type chrome://flags in your web url and enable a bunch of other extra features. chrome flags are basically experimental features that aren't part of default chrome yet.
for example, if you enable:
-dark/light mode of system ui
& -force dark mode for web contents
then you get dark mode on your Chromebook.
another feature is:
-enable show date in tray
which will show you the date in the bottom right corner where the time is.
there's a bunch of more features too and articles on what chrome flags they recommend for you to get.
for the wallpaper, if u go to ur files and right click, it will let u “set as wallpaper”

Tip to change your Lock Screen: go to files, select the picture you want, press the 3 dots (I’m pretty sure). And press set wallpaper.

I'm watchin this on a Samsung Chromebook Plus V2, with a buncha stickers on a clear case and an ombre purple keyboard cover! I love my chromebook so much!

I don't know if you're still struggling with the home/lock screen customization yet but you mentioned you were unable to change the image unless you used the custom setting. If you actually download a photo you like, you can go to the folder that photo is in, right click it, and you'll see a "Set as Wallpaper" option at the bottom area of the list!

If you want to set photos's from your phone to Chromebook as your wallpaper/background. Download the google drive app. Make an account if you don't already have one login to that google account both your Chromebook and google drive on the phone. Once done go back to the phone hover over the "Home" section of the drive app on the bottom right you'll see a big plus button click on it. You'll have 6 different options choose "upload' from there you can upload as much photos as you want to the drive. Once done go back to google drive on your Chromebook. All the photos should be uploaded on there and from there all you have to do is right click on the photos you want and then scroll down press download from there it should automatically go to "images" from your wallpaper section.

to fix the wallpaper problem, go into files and right click the picture you want the wallpaper to be (either png or jpeg) and at the bottom of the options it should say "set as wallpaper"!! sadly gifs do not work as backgrounds :(

if you want to change your background a picture from you gallery then hit the time at the corner hit settings hit personalization and hit wallpaper then there you go!!! I hope this helps!

@@yaniya7601 To change your wallpaper to one from your gallery, right click on the wallpaper, then press "change wallpaper" and go to "my images", and it'll show you the images you've saved. Select the one you like and it'll change to your wallpaper. I hope this helps! If not, you'll need to specify what you want to change.

HEYYY so basicaly how to make your own wallpaper is by saving the picture you want from google and then going on my images and you can change your wallpaper!!

if you download an image that you want to set as your background you can tap the mouse pad with 2 fingers (the equivalent of a right click) and it will come up with an option to set the image as wallpaper. make sure that when you name the download it still has the .jpeg at the end otherwise the wallpaper setting won't show up :)

hi! you can actually change the wallpaper by scrolling down and you will see "my images" there you can choose whatever photo you want as wallpaper

This might be a bit late but to get other photos to put as your wallpaper is actually pretty simple, once your picture is downloaded go to your files and two finger click it, then scroll and click set as wallpaper and it should work for all Chromebooks.

My QUESTION is: Is it GOOGLE that determines the design and number of wallpaper options - and, most important, that the SHELF/BACKGROUND ITSELF is fixed and cannot be changed in terms of color? Thanks, again.
Aww of course! To answer your question, I believe google is controlling what you see for wallpaper options since it is all googles software. Luckily, you can choose any photo from your files, right click, and hit choose new wallpaper to make it your wallpaper. And yes unfortunately the shelf background is fixed and cannot be changed. I tried looking into changing it but the color is set. Hopefully that helps!
u can add a custom background but go to files and find the pic, use both fingers to click down and press set as wallpaper
