I believe it's called "doble cara" in the Philippined because it is usually performed with full makeup and costume, one side as the male and the other as the female. So there's literally "two faces" singing. The singer will turn to make their male or female side face the audience whem they sing the respective parts. This can be difficult with the frequency of switches between voices that Marcelito does, though. 😄

I believe it's called "doble cara" in the Philippined because it is usually performed with full makeup and costume, one side as the male and the other as the female. So there's literally "two faces" singing. The singer will turn to make their male or female side face the audience whem they sing the respective parts. This can be difficult with the frequency of switches between voices that Marcelito does, though. 😄

No, you are correct. It does mean 2 faces. Originally, doble kara singers would be in costume, half body in male attire, the other half in a dress wearing makeup. The singer would turn to either side to reflect which voice they were using.
