I've met Mike a few times, (he's in his 60s now) and he's a really soft spoken guy who loves rodeo and his dog he named Blue. When I met him I didn't actually know what happened to him until about 2 years after meeting him and my parents just mentioned it when he came up in our conversation. It was pretty shocking to find out that this quiet guy, helped save all those kids on that bus even though he was just a kid himself. Personally, I think there's a pretty sick coincidence that this was posted just hours after the announcement of a horrific school shooting, but that's just me. Here in San Antonio the districts are already taking actions for the last week of school. I honestly don't know if I'm even going to take mine to school for the remainder of the year now.
That bus driver was a true hero, during such a nightmarish situation he kept level headed and saved those kids lives, not that many people like that today.
Ending on a lighter note. When I went on field trips with my elementary school class all us kids would make gestures to truckers for them to honk their horn on the highway. And they did. Did anyone else do that?😂
Yess!! I taught my now kids to do this. We have logging trucks that come down our back farm road and when at the bus stop or in the front cow pasture I’d do the arm motion to get them to honk and now my kids do it also. Kids don’t do it as often anymore to where truck drivers get excited when they see kids do it now of days.
The first story was actually turned into a movie. I think it was called ‘gone without a trace’ or something in that vicinity. Grateful enough that everyone survived.
As a Dairyland kid we used to make fun of the movie😂 while I’m sure it told the story just fine it definitely didn’t do Chowchilla justice, we used to say whoever decided to give the town rolling hills has never visited our town😂
Something like this happened to my friend, she was riding the bus listening to music and a car hit the side of the bus she was on. Thankfully no one got hurt and my friend was unfazed about the incident
I heard the men in the Chowchilla kidnapping were never able to demand the ransom because parents were calling the police to find out what happened to their children
I can’t believe Mr. Nightmare is covering a story about my middle school😭 Dairyland actually still has his bus, they had a memorial for him a few years ago with it being showcased and one of the town parks is named after him, he was truly the towns biggest hero

It makes my blood boil that the monsters from the first story could even dream of parole let alone actually be granted it while innocent people rot in prison
For the first story, I think I heard that the people who kidnapped the kids and bus driver tried calling the police for the ransom money, however they couldn’t get anyone because the lines were busy by the parents calling the police to search for their missing children.
Yeah, I remember reading that these dudes had tried to call the police to make their ransom demands, but were blocked by the lines being busy; so they decided to get some sleep and call when they woke up. However by the time that they’d woken up, they were dismayed to discover that their victims had already escaped, so that’s when they went on the run.

Although I'm no expert on it, I'd say you nailed the story! Definitely taught me some stuff that I didn't know, so I greatly appreciate it :)

I kinda had a similar thing that happened to me back in college, it was 6-7pm on a Wednesday and that was the last day of that school year (of all days) so my classmates had their casual clothes on--I still had my uniform for which I was made fun of. It was only 5 of us left in the van (not a bus) when 3 men came inside. Immediately, we felt fear coursing through our veins. One of them sat beside the driver, the other blocked the only exit and one of them started pointing guns at us. I was in the last seat on the last row and started to pray for my and my classmates' safety. The man who had a gun started collecting wallets and phones with his pistol in hand, and when it was my turn, he said "Just ignore the student and let's go.", and they all left. We all received calls from the School the next day, asking about the incident, and they all sent us to counseling which helped alleviate the trauma. Sadly, our driver never recuperated from it, despite kind words from everyone in our school, he kept blaming himself for not 'securing enough that the doors were locked'. He fell into depression and started doing 'bad habits'.
Hey Mr. Nightmare, thanks for the amazing content! Your narrations have been helping me cope with issues in my home life for awhile now and I appreciate it!
Those were some horrific experiences. Glad no one died tragically in those 3 stories. I know what it's liked to be robbed too, but my experiences weren't being robbed at gun-point or by someone threatening me with a knife.
As a school bus driver myself, situational awareness is critical in these crazy times. I know it was uncommon for this kind of atrocity to happen, so the driver was caught off guard…..☹️
It’s always a good day if Mr.Nightmare uploads. (Edit) I just found out about what happened today, if I knew this earlier I wouldn’t have commented this, my thoughts and prayers go to the victims and families 🙏🙏
Hearing these stories really makes my own experiences seem so lighthearted yknow? Like it could have been much worse. The worst thing I've ever had happen on a school bus was when two kids stood up and started to fight while the bus was moving, and the driver slammed on the brakes and started screaming. Compared to the rest of these, that's a walk in the park lol. That first story especially is something straight out of a horror movie. Ed's a real great guy for never giving up on their escape. Hope he's resting easy and that the victims in all of these situations are able to find some peace.
Just moments away from turning into my elementary school, a gentleman in a car fell asleep at the wheel and side-swiped the bus I was riding in. Unfortunately, I don't believe the man was wearing a seatbelt nor his airbag released. His head slammed into his windshield, and he passed away. Multiple injuries were sustained among fellow students on the bus as well, including a broken leg. I myself was sent to the hospital due to a sideways whiplash that still gives me issues to this day. This must have been 20 years ago now. I will never forget the sight of the bloody cracked windshield or the lifeless body of the man inside. Sad day.

@Alon Alush but why stop? I understand the driver didn’t wanna get shot, but if the robbers were gonna shoot him they’re gonna do it whether you stop or keep driving. I’d much rather make a run for it, potentially saving everyone on the bus, than to stop and roll the dice with my life.

it’s the end of the school year for me, so i’m very nervous because i’m moving to a whole nother state plus i’m starting high school next year, and opening youtube to see your video honestly lifted up my mood. keep up the good work, nightmare!
First story: At the time of the kidnapping in 1976, I was in the USAF, stationed at RAF Alconbury, England. I heard about this all the way in England. What was scary about this incident, is because I had lived in Chowchilla, CA. when I was a little girl. This kinda freaked me out. Such a small world when things like this happen.
“It’s always best to comply with their orders” except when they’re trying to take you to a secondary location. It’s better to take your chances to fight or escape at the original location than be kidnapped and taken elsewhere.

@@byuftbl, yeah we don't have those here because guns aren't really allowed to civilians and by the time you get one it's a long process so I guess that's the good thing about a developing country.
Ive heard about the first story a few years ago and this gave me a bit of an update as the story i heard was the basics of the story, its an amazing story tho as any other situation like that it normaly ends with loss of life and a lot of it, but ed is a hero and he deserves it
As a retail employee, we were trained that in the event of a robbery, especially in an armed robbery, to comply with the robbers orders and simply handover whatever they ask for. We are trained to not do anything to try to stop the robber. We are also trained to inform the robber if there are other employees in the store (like I. The stock room or bathroom) so they aren’t startled when said employees suddenly emerge. I used to work at a gas station out in the country, and this training came in handy one night. The store was open 24 hrs, so the over night shift and evening shifts were the most dangerous. I was working late one night and a guy came in. He asked for a pack of cigarettes and I asked to see his ID (he looked young and in my state you have to be 21 to purchase tobacco) he got angry and refused to give me his ID, so I refused to sell him the cigarettes (as we are told to do). He suddenly pulled out a knife and threatened to stab me if I didn’t hand over the cigarettes. I handed them over and told him he could take whatever he wanted. He just stood there yelling at me while the cigarettes were on the counter, so I told him about my coworker in the back room in case he came out as a result of the yelling. He snatched the cigarettes and took off. Whole thing lasted maybe 5 minutes. It felt like a lifetime but it was actually so fast. I collapsed crying after he left. I think I just kinda froze afterwards, I didn’t call for help or call 911. Once I mentally composed myself a little, I locked up the doors so he couldn’t come back in and went to my coworker. We called the police and called my manager, ended up closing up for the night as a result. I didn’t go back to work a night shift for about a week, I was just too scared. And when I did return, every young male customer with blonde hair that walked into the store suddenly became the robber in my mind and I’d feel all panicked and terrified. That was over a year ago now, and I no longer work there. But I still feel kinda panicked when I see young male customer come in to my current job late at night. Definitely triggers my fight or flight reflex.
Reading this helps me know my reaction when I got robbed was pretty normal. I work at a grooming shop and a guy came in showing me the butt of his gun (which was only a very realistic looking air soft gun….it even fooled the police until they examined it) and said to give him money so I did and it was only about 70 bucks so he went down the road to rob another person. He told me before he left not to call or he’d come back and kill me. I was shaking but I froze as well and didn’t call anyone, but then I finally hid under my desk so he wouldn’t see me in case he came back. I texted my boss and went on working. Then like you I would get very anxious anytime a male walked in without a dog. I had a few dreams about it happening again. But the last dream I had a golden rifle and someone tried to rob me so I took it out and chased them away. After that I had no more anxiety about the robbery. Interesting that my mind healed itself from PTSD!
Little snowflake-y, aren't we? There are places in the world where people laugh this stuff off or even fight the fool themselves, like here where I live. These things are minor inconveniences here, nothing more. And you act like you were brutally graped and beaten while at gunpoint while the only thing that happened was some unsavory individual with a knife who demanded some ciggies in a rather rude manner.... Not saying I wouldn't be scared a little, but you know...I wouldn't exactly be left traumatized, fearing any blonde dude on Earth a week after... I know I sound like a typical arrogant tough guy and a keyboard warrior, but like...C'mon....
Love your videos man, I just am absolutley sickened about what happened at the school in Texas, again.........to young innocent children. It is like sandy hook over again 10 years later...just so very sad I truly hope and wish for the best for everyone affected by that.
I know this isn't going to be me talking about how scary it was Rather I want to just thank you. You stated in your video that some of these incidents aren't heard but I appreiate that you take your time to look for these stories, and retell these untold stories that never get to the news. And although the victims on these buses may have never gotten their things back or were giving emotional truama i's good for them to be told.
If the bus driver and kids didn't attempt to get out through that hatch the story probably would be much different. I have a feeling the FBI wouldn't have found them in time, if at all.
I remember an incident back in December of 2015. I was in 10th grade, 16 years old and rode the bus to school and home. well on that evening we was dropping off this boy at his house when everyone jumped up from their seats and pointed at the window, it turned out that someone shot out one of the windows on the bus from outside. People believed it was a bebe gun used. My bus driver called 9-1-1 and I think It took about 45 minutes for police to arrive, can't really remember though. Minutes later, we had to get on another bus. Luckily, nobody was injured, but that incident still sticks with me to this day.
@@stoneheart_raven basically, plus I think it was because some other people that seen what happened also called was why I took long. I'm not really sure the amount of time, I kinda just assumed it was 45 minutes, that what it felt like. But i still remember the incident. I think what happened was, some kid was shooting a bebe gun and accidentally shot the window out, which some people said that's what happened. And yeah it was crazy and very scary. I still remember that incident to this day.
When I was in 2nd grade, in the early 80s, I had a bus driver who scared me. I remember one morning we picked up this girl who was a few years older than me. I forget what she said or did, but I remember the driver got out of his seat and stood in front of the girl and yelled at her. She stared down at her school book. The driver grabbed the book from her and tore a page out. The girl started crying. I told my mom what happened and told her I didn’t want to ride that bus anymore. My mom didn’t believe me. Later in the year we moved and I went to a different school. That bus driver was nice.
The first story honestly made me sick to my stomach, the thought that anyone could hurt and traumatized such innocent and full of kindness souls makes me fury with anger, how could any human have the heart to take another’s life..? They should have been sentenced to life in jail in my opinion, I feel utterly sick that such evil souls could ever roam the streets, disgusting.
Super excited about this new direction! Branching out into videos on specific topics is the perfect addition to an already legendary channel. Thank you!!
In a way or two, even though it is really sad that a psychotic gunman decided to take the lives of innocent people in a school, it is a little satisfying to know that he too had his life taken from him as well. May the families of those innocent victims find peace and recover from this devastating experience.
Ed and Michael didn't need capes to become real heroes. Truly amazing. and that's another reason why school's should teach students self defense, for situations like this
I used to be on a school bus with an hour and a half drive to school. While in the mountains isolated and one part of the route was alone a lake. During the winter months it was anxieting every time the bus would swerve on the road ice. But it was probably more likely for us to be robbed than be launched into the freezing lake
I live in Laredo, Texas, so I have friends who have family and little cousins who go to that school. So far, I have 2 friends who lost their cousins in Uvalde. It’s sad because these two friends of mine were very paranoid hoping their little ones didn’t die, but they did. I am devastated, very hurt that stuff like this happens. God be with us all. I love you, Lord God. Bless and HEAL America o lord!
I’m not sure why Ed would let those men on the bus in the first place, but I’m glad that in the end he was able to save everyone and make sure no one was seriously hurt❤️
I haven’t seen this yet but I just had a thought. Why not buy a school bus and just drive it around at night. Just randomly in the middle of the night. Just don’t look in the mirror above you and you should be fine.
The fact that nothing has been done to get guns out of the hands of those who may be unstable is sad, I hope that they consider doing more instead of talking about these many incidents, my prayers go out to the families and victims of this tragedy

Yeah, if I were a bus driver and saw some jerk with a gun and a stocking over his head trying to get me to stop, I'd probably speed up and run him over.
They are not bulletproof tho
@@Mcfluffymittens That is true, but usually these buses should also come with a bus aid. Which is another person that sits in the back to keep an eye on the children. They have enough time to contact authorities.
The things you’re talking about are probably in place because of events like this. They were certainly not the norm years ago.

Did anyone else do that?😂
All the time 😂😂 why did we do that as kids lmao
No but we walked home from school and there was a freeway just above the road we walked on, so we would do it while walking
Yes, I do remember doing that once or twice, but I rarely, if ever, got a response.
Absolutely, people at my school do this all the time
The first story was actually turned into a movie. I think it was called ‘gone without a trace’ or something in that vicinity. Grateful enough that everyone survived.
Also sounds similar to the end of Dirty Harry.

That's just really sad I feel so sorry for u guys

Those were some horrific experiences. Glad no one died tragically in those 3 stories. I know what it's liked to be robbed too, but my experiences weren't being robbed at gun-point or by someone threatening me with a knife.

Great video once again!

Luckily, nobody was injured, but that incident still sticks with me to this day.
was this like in the middle of no where? like how does it take 45 min for cops to arrive when someone shot at a bus. like that is crazy.
