This was the second boat I owned. Man I loved that boat. I was young and in love with my boat. This video brought back so many great memories. Thanks for posting hope you enjoy this boat as much as I did mine.
Reminds me of my parents boat when I was a kid. It was a slightly smaller. 16.5 ft capri with an 85 Force. It was a great boat. We had a ton of fun with it.
I have the exact same boat I just bought and on the engine there's one thing you should do coming out of the thermostat housing you need to put a fitting where the bolt is run a tube down put a hole in the lower cowling so you can see the water coming out of the engine so you always know the impeller is working I did it and it works fantastic some of those engines are great and some of those engines are bad I happen to have a great one myself and got a great deal on my boat since it wasn't running either a couple hundred bucks working on the motor and parts and I got it purring like a kitten
I also put LEDs lights where you were pointing and also there's one thing to check in the back around the transom make sure there is no plywood rot under the fiberglass I had to replace some of mine
I bought one of these sold the 125 and have mounted my Yamaha 200 on it. The 200 was on my old marlin that the hull was rotting out of.it had a old Chrysler 135 which is basically a force. So yeah dump the force and try to find a Yamaha. Mine was blown up off a lake Powell houseboat and I did a complete rebuild wiseco pistons and all new Yamaha bearings. This spring will be the first time out with the Yamaha but I’m predicting 55-60 MPH.
Nice vid! I am about to pick up a 2001 capri I found with a newer Merc on it. These boats are going for CHEAP in my area so I figured why not grab one!
For sure! I actually really like the hull. Probably going to find a 150-200hp outboard that needs a piston for cheap and rebuild it to get rid of the force.
It is not a bad motor it is just parts I think they stopped making the motor in the 90s. Thinking about buying one just to mess with lol. Not a bad boat the most u would have to do in any problem is just change the motor to something like a Yamaha and u will have parts for a lifetime lol
Did you say in one of your other videos you took it out to the Saginaw bay? If so that’s my area! I just bought 88 capri with a 85 force on it. Can’t wait for summer to test it
Yeah I frequently go to Holloway Reservoir. Been in the river and bay a few times. I've sold the Bayliner a few years ago and now have a different boat. Doesn't like the waves as much as the Bayliner did
So what happened with the boat? Do you still have it? I do have a '90 capri with a Force 120 outboard and so far (knock on wood) it hasn't given me any problems. Then again, it barely has 203 hours. It's Memorial weekend and I hope to see you take the boat out for a spin!
We took the boat out s bunch of times last year but never recorded it. It was a great boat. This year I put boyesen power reeds in it, took it out once, and it broke. There will be an update video on boat stuff soon...
I was just wondering if you know what model the motor on your boat is? I just bought a 1988 bayliner capri and it started leaking oil from the lower unit but idk the model to get the right seal
I love the hull. Lots of room, low profile, fun boat. The motor has been giving me some issues. Very reliable and never leaves me stranded. It just has a random issue I've been chasing where it has a low top speed. Like 28mph. I've checked everything and cant figure it out. Probably going to just bolt a more powerful motor on it over the winter.
@@djcue7608 my battery was charged enough to start the boat fine and run the radio and such. My cables were just replaced. Maybe I should check the battery still
@@NightChasers u should get 2 batteries 1 for motor only and 1 for strictly electronics jus make sure u get a battery switch between the 2 but u can also use both at the same time that way u never get stranded i just did that to fine because i converted my boat for fishing good luck brother hope its something small
Don’t sell the boat!! Sell the motor off of it and get a different motor. Get a Johnson. They are great also evinrude or Yamahas are awesome. Please don’t sell the boat it’s a beauty.
@@sethgabbard7705 yeah you're right. I like the hull a lot. Love the space it has and how low profile it is. I could look into a different brand for a power up. May have to look into strengthening the transom.

Nice! That would be a ton of fun!
Dude this is sweet, my suggestion would be just keep it clean and in good shape definitely got a good deal on it
Yeah I plan on fixing it up a bit and making it a bit better. I'm currently diagnosing a low top speed issue. After that the mods are on.
I'll probably upgrade to a better boat sometime next year.
Please do make some vids on the force running in water!!! Curious to see how it performs acceleration wise
Trying to diagnose some issues with it right now

Bayliner s from the 80’s are/were notorious for floors rotting out very quickly.
Yeah mine was starting to get soft lol
Also buying a 88 Bayliner, lmk if you have any suggestions to keeping it working and strong!
This is AWESOME I have the exact same boat and a 96’ black GMC Sierra
Mine is also a 2 door!
@@Asfastasposi. nice!

Nightchasers to nightmares forces had so many issues
I sold the boat and bought a mastercraft. Had a low speed issue with the Bayliner I could never figure out
@@NightChasers yeah mine had so many issues could never seem to get on top end 15-20mph was my max and told it should be running 25-30mph
Jesus. 80s capri with a force outboard, the most god forsaken watercraft ever created
Cool price
That trailer is worth $1500-$2000 every damn day.
how much did you pay for it?
$900
900!!! I paid 3000 for mine 90 hp Yamaha
Just an fyi force motor have lots of problems and it the greatest they are not too reliable. But otherwise awesome not nice colors.
Yeah that's what I've heard from many people. I'll probably sell it come spring time and buy a better boat.
