With respect, I don't see the point of showing how to do this and then recommending a professional do it if you have never done it before. I followed the instructions which were good and clear and found it a simple task adding a second drive. Once you prize the laptop apart you are practically home. Thanks for the video.
Straight to the point, good camera angle, clear instructions. This is a perfect example of what tech instruction video should be. You sir are a respected man o7
Thank you for the tutorial, I was really nervous installing the SSD it seems simple but still scary when you don't know what could go wrong.
Awesome review and a great guide for those who are wanting to upgrade their laptops. Thanks!
You're welcome, and thanks for the kind words!
Amazingly helpful. Thank you for this.
Man i just love watching your videos...keep going 💯🤝
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
Tyvm man i just installed a kingston 2tb ssd and i couldn't have done it without your video, thans a lot man!
I'm glad the video helped!
does it support 2tb per slot in case of gen 4 ssd ?
Thanks for the detailed instructions! I am from Russia and although my English is very bad, I understood everything 100%. All the best to you! 😉
thanks, I hope it was useful!
Awesome video. Thanks!
The best guide ever!
thanks for sharing
Thanks, bro.
Thank you 🙏
Excellent video. Upgrading my drive to a Samsung 970. Thinking about going up to two 16 gig ram sticks.
Oh man, those are sweet upgrades!
U r the best
I watched few videos before I tried to upgrade it my self and its not hard, I've heard its quiet easy to brake the plasstic back a little but I haven't breaky any plastic and I already upgraded 4 notebooks with ease
Thank you,
Hi could you make a video of how to change the bios battery for that notebook please. I have the same model, but i cant find that baterry.
Thanks
Hi. I have a question which is , the new SSD does not need thermo sticker for cooling and heating or if I use Nvme for mi Laptop?
make video about Replace Thermal Paste❤
When you flipped it over and see the 2 fans, which one is the CPU and GPU?
I have this exact laptop, what should I look for in upgrading my ventilation? I want to keep my laptop under 60 degrees Celsius when gaming. Also maybe a 1 TB SSD suggestion too, thank you in advance.
Will it be possible to place in this laptop, m2 units with heatsink? like samsung 980 pro or WD sn850x
thanks for the video
I have a question
I have a asus tuf dash f15 fx517zc and wanted to add Samsung 980 pro pcie 4.0 nvme m.2 ssd as additional ssd dive, should i use a thermal pad ?
How am I suppose to discharge from static energy if I am working on a wood desk ?
Do I need to replace the 512gb ssd with 1tb as an os drive or just install os to newly mounted drive? Any speed difference for those 2 slots?
How do I change the Keyboard ??
2 keys aren't working
I just buy the same laptop model FX517ZC but I don't know how much ram support, the laptop have a 8GB but show 2 slots and only use 1, I can replace and add 2 memory ram of 16gb? Thanks!
I dont know why but the m.2 slot doesn't even fit some of them with back plates which is very annoying. So you'd have to opt for slower/exposed/older m.2 sticks. :U
My screw won't come off for the new installment of hard drive?
Excellent, well made video ! Do you think there is physical space in the casing to handle a Samsung 980 pro with a heatsink? It is about 3 times as thick as a standard 980 pro M.2 SSD.
Thanks, I appreciate it! Space is really tight, there's room for a heatsink unfortunately.
Can I put a 1TB SSD for the laptop so a total of 1.5 TB of storage is it possible or does it have to be 500 GB or lower?
just bought a f15 2023 only has 512gb so im planning to add a 1tb ssd
but im afraid to open mine since its bnew
Hi there,
i will add new SSD to my asus (same as you do) but i want to make it as priority drive (install windows on it)....
should i change the SSD slots as well?
Task manager shows there are 4 memory slots. I wonder where are the other two
Can I use samsung 980 pro in it ? 🤔
I have this model, and after a week I started to hear something like squeak. I've read information from the internet that it could be from a throttle or ssd and it is normal. Is this common sound from this laptop ?
Hi, i can use a PCIe Gen 4 for the Asus TUF Dash f15 2022?
Guys, what is the maximum SSD thickness that'll fit inside the ASUS TUF Dash F15 (FX516PC)? Please help because I can't find an answer for this online. I just need to know the maximum thickness that'll fit. The SSD I'm currently looking at is an ADATA Legend 960 Max 2TB, with a heatsink and has the dimensions of 80.6 x 23.2 x 10.65mm (LxWxH). Basically I need to know if 10.65mm will fit and if I'd still be able to close the underside cover.
I want to upgrade my ram to 32 gb. Are the cl values important?
Can i buy a second handed 'asus tuf dash f15' (i5 11300h, 6gb rtx 3060) for 550$(2 years old and in good condition from my friend) or should i go with the new 'acer aspire 7'( i5 1240p with gtx 1650) for 670$. I mostly do programming and designing and will only play games occasionally. Since money is a concern for me, can i go with asus tuf (which has a bottleneck cpu due to its 4 core 11300h) so i can save like 100 bucks or should i go for the latter which has the new 12th gen processor with a decent 4gb gtx 1650 ? Is a 2 year old laptop good enough for future use? Pls reply. Thanks in advance!
Que tipo de ssd es?
Does Asus Tuf has CMOS button battery?
Fantastic video, well scripted and so easy to follow.. my son's got this same laptop and needs to add additional storage.. is the extra M.2 slot limited to storage capacity? was looking at Crucial P5 Plus 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe would this be fine
Does the 2tb work?
can i upgrade ssd with different brand?
3:15
Mine won't come off
Please help
Why its not allowed to upgrade to 64Gb ram?
Both sdd slots support Gen 4 ssd or not
Very good video and straight to the point! But I'm wondering, what is the maximum SSD capacity that can be installed on it?
Only 1TB 🥲
nice job sir..but remove battery first sir...
Can we change processor bro please reply me this laptop
If I open my Asus Tuf Dash F15 will it void the warranty?
What is the SSD size?
Is the maximum 32GB per slot or all together?
I got the same laptop a few days ago.. its brand new .. but the keyboard lights are off and I don’t know how to fix that .. even though I tried to switch all lighting methods in armor .. and all the drivers are up to date .. any thoughts or advice to help?
Probably the brightness is set to lowest, happened to me too
Is 1TB the biggest or can you do a 2TB?
Ive read on redditt....... that 1tb is Max on the F15
can I put gen 4 ssd
Gotta diy to gain experience though,
Hi there! I was wondering if KINGSTON KC3000 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 is compatible storage upgrade for this laptop? Thanks!
yes, this laptop do support gen 4 ssd on both the slots. have you upgraded yet? my only doubt is that 2tb per slot is supported or only 1tb per slot
in case of gen 4 ssd
Does tuf logo on the lid prone to fade if touched?? Felt like mine is fading (it's brand new th0)
By touch? I don't think it will. Maybe oils from fingers might make it look that way, but it sort of looks like sandblasted metal (not sure if this is the actual process though).
what happens if we dont put black foil back on the board .... and disassemble the battery and just use laptop with ac adapter??
For battery, I'm guessing it should still work without it if you have it plugged in. Black foil I think is a heat spreader - too much heat without dissipation will eventually burn out the chip, "killing" it.
How SSD did you use?
slots ssd NVMe is pci 3.0 x4 , not 4.0x4
I'm pretty sure you're correct as my model states 3x4 as far as i can tell.
Subtitulados en español por favor😊
Excuse me if i add antother ssd, the storage in practice will add to the first one?
Now you have 2 separate storage bins. It doesn't become one larger bin.
what type of laptop is this??
Hello @FirstL00k. I have the same model model no- AsusTUF DashF15 (FX517ZE). But asus official service people told me that I might face some problems in my motherboard or performance if I upgrade my systems SSD or RAM. Can u help me with ur reviews??
Lol i have the same model. But they told me to upgrade it for better performance.
Hello. Can you tell me if the SSDs listed bellow are compatible with it?
SSD Patriot M.2 512GB P300 NVMe - P300P512GM28
SSD Crucial M.2 500GB P2 NVMe - CT500P2SSD8
SSD Western Digital M.2 480GB SN350 Green NVMe - WDS480G2G0C
thanks!

Where is the graphics card?
Hi my F15 came with two 8gb ddr5 rams...Now that I want to upgrade the ram..Can I make one slot of 16 gb ddr5 ram and the other slot as it is.ie. 8gb ddr5 ram..totalling it to 16+8 = 24gb ddr5 ram...
Will this affect the performance as one is smaller compared to the other one?
I haven't noticed any performance difference on mine when running the soldered 8GB and my 32GB module.
Outside of the performance benefits of having enough memory.
The memory controllers past broadwell has handled mismatched capacaties very, very well.
I think DDR5 is running dual channel on a single stick... if you put 2 sticks it will run quad channel... please correct me if I am wrong.. I also wonder if the wifi card is upgradable?
Not true 😅
*I am never going to open up this laptop. Just wanted to see how is done. the last one I had I tried unplugging the battery i fired something and it never turned on again.*
😅😅y would anyone unplug the battery unless u wanna change the battery 🤦🏾♂️
Thanks for the video !!! Can replace the 8gb and use two 16GB SoDimm [ DDR5 5600MHz ] and a SSD 2TB PCIe NVMe [ Gen4 ] in the free slot?
same question here!! have you upgraded your ssd till now ?
i have the same question, did you do it and if you do with what tipe of ram do you upgrade it, i also want to upgrade my memory to that frecuency
Does CRUCIAL P5 PLUS compatible with asus tuf dash f15 2022? Im planning to add ssd to my laptop.. pls answer my comment..badly needed help😢
Yes! Any M.2 2280 drive is
Sir, please help me, my laptop won't turn on after I tried to upgrade the SSD on the 2nd slot as in this video, what happened? Even by plugging in the power cable, no power comes in
same. did you find solution?
Hi bro, i have the same laptop and I am facing an issue. My laptop is not charging after connecting to the charger. It only start charging after few minutes (5 to 10 minutes ). Is this an issue or it is normal?
If it was me, I'd contact Asus support about it immediately (info is on their website).
One possibility might be if your laptop is set to use 80% battery in the MyAsus app; the charger might not kick in until it goes below that. But it's never happened to me and I'd probably contact Asus about it.
Is it necessary to remove the black foil if you are only upgrading the ssd in the second slot?
If there's no reason to touch it, better to leave it alone.
Dear All,
I have a question for ppl who own this model i7-12700h, 3050 rtx is it worth to buy? Is there any critical cons ?
3050 preform as a 1660 so you lose some power yes its “rtx” but stats show that its not any better then a 1660 and is not as powerful as it seems to be said to be
what is the max ssd upgrade for this device ? Can anyone help me ?
ASUS Support chat just advised me 1tb was max
. But, Shouldn't you Clone the second SSD with the first one before changing it??? So you can not lose the OS and other material you may have in the first one...?
It's just a question....
Thanx a lot in advance
No need for that you can directly plug and use the secondary storage
is it possibles to upgrade to 2tb for a slot of ssd
on this model
same question here have you upgraded till now? 2tb per slot is supported ? in case of gen 4 ssd
are u sure 2 of ssd slot is gen 4?
i thought one of them is gen 3, and here im searching for which one is gen 3
Asus Just told me via chat that the 1st one is Gen 4 and the 2nd one is Gen 3 They couldnt tell me which slot was the 1st one or the 2nd one.. sooo.. I m assuming and hoping the first in Gen 4 You can Chat with asus on the website under support open till 9pm PST
does it come with 2x4gb already? or is this been upgraded already? I have the 8gb version
yup, in my machine there were 2 RAM chips already in there.
i have asus tuf gaming A15 (fa507re) with 56wh battery
can i upgrade to 90 wh battery ??
I'm not qualified to answer this as I didn't design the electrical aspects of it. Who don't you ask Asus support (technician)? On asus.com/support you can email or call them.
@@FirstL00k thanks
Hi, I've managed to get the back off of the laptop however the screw where the 2nd SSD drive goes - I'm blowed if I can unscrew it. I've tried a PH 0, 00, 1 screwdriver and nothing is working. I screw will not move either clockwise or anti clockwise. What is the correct screwdriver size for this screw. And should I be turning clockwise to undo the screw please (as this is what it appears you are doing in the video). Many thanks. I've never had so much trouble getting a screw out of anything in my life!!!).
Hello ! how did you manage to do it ? I am having the same issue !
@@LakteOz Gidday. I asked my local computer guy to have a go and he used a multi grip tool. He told me the screw was very, very tight and once he felt the screw slightly give he slowly and gradually turned the screw until he was able to get the screw out. He then inserted the 2nd hard drive and ensured when he put the screw back in that he didn't tighten it as hard as it was originally so I am able to undo the screw in the future, if required.
@@desleycasey7412 omg there's no way I will do that, lol, guess I need to find a person with the proper tools to do so. Thank you for sharing your experience !
@@LakteOz Totally understand. However the screw which was extremely tight was one of the hard drive screws where he could gently use a multi grip tool in order to unscrew the screw. If the screw is part of the back cover screws then absolutely not to use a multi grip tool. So it depends where the screw is that you are trying to undo. Asus are a real bugger aren't they. When I had this issue I found many others also had experienced the same issue. It's ridiculous that they do this. From what I can gather nearly every Asus laptop has one screw that is so tight that it's nearly all bar impossible to undo. Obviously they are using some type of machine to insert the screws and the machine setting is ridiculous high for tightness.
If you recommend a professional to replace/upgrade the ram for you if you have never done this before then you will never learn how to upgrade ram and other stuff. Theres a first time for everything you dont just skip to the second time.
32 GB per slot is the maximum or 32GB RAM total? Tnx
32 max with 16 each on both the slots
In my country this laptop comes with gen 3 ssd. Can I upgrade it to gen 4? Will it give me the performance of gen 4?
The review was for a US model, there may be regional differences in laptop specs. If it was me, I'd find the exact model of laptop and find out what the specs are on the Asus site first before investing more money. At the end of the day though, there probably won't be a noticeable difference for most ppl (though if you work with, or transfer large amounts of data on a daily basis, it changes the equation.)

Your quick response will be very appreciated
ASUS f15 i7-12700h, 3050rtx, 144hz, ddr5 , m.2 gen 3 for 875$
Or
Acer nitro 5 i9-12900h, 3060rtx, 165hz, ddr5 , m.2 gen 4 for 1290$
I’m a heavy performance performance 🙏🙏🙏
I just bought the model with the 3050 GTX, and 8 gigs of RAM. I'm going to upgrade it to 16, do you know if it's 8 gig dual, or single? Thanks. Don't want to buy it until I know for sure.
you have to open it up to see what you have. I had dual chips in mine, but other ppl have had single one.
I had 1 single 8gb module on it, I populated the other with another 8gb one. You can find info on the memory, not necessary to open the laptop just Windows info
does it support ssd bigger than 1 TB in size ?
Yes 2tb
But your SATA SSD is not seen over here 🤔
Can i put 2tb ssd in each slot so that i can have 4tb ssd?
same question here ,have you upgraded now ?
Is the RAM total limit only 32 GB? Or did you mean each slot?
total limit is 32Gb
Your title said your upgrading 3, you only done 😊1
Are both ssd slots gen 4?
asus just told me one is Gen 3 nd one is Gen 4 didnt say which just that 1st one is Gen 4 and the second is Gen4 they couldnt say which one was the 1st or 2nd..
Help

Can we use gen 4 ssd? Tuf dash f15 comes with gen 3 ssd
It will work, but at gen 3 speeds. I just put a gen 4 in mine and it works, but at the gen 3 speeds.
@J G is it worth to insert gen 3 ssd, or should I go for gen 3 ssd?
