    It's heartbreaking when I hear "The owner's elected euthanasia." I would assume in most cases it's cause they can't afford to treat the treatment or surgery..Thank animal heavens there are places like Vet Ranch that say "Noo...noo...we're gonna try to fix this." and like I would say at least 90% of the time in your videos you have and can and they end up in a nice new home. Your channel makes my heart happy seeing other's be so passionate and caring to the animals you take in. I can tell you genuinely care.

    Oh so glad you were able to help. I'm a bit nuts, and our children growing up had odd pets,not dogs and cats. House bunny's was one of them. We had a puppy that was perfect. He and the bunny were great friends. Bunnies are a lot easier to potty train then any other animals. Thanks for helping this guy; he was well worth it. We also had 15 hermit crabs ,a fish that died of old age. He lived 6 years instead of the 2 that he was supposed to. Hamsters also. Thanks for what you do!!

    We have 5 rabbits. I totally know the vet means by they’ll self mutilate and pick and pick at it something till they cause a wound. One of ours chewed a large wound into her dewlap/chest area. Now going on 3 weeks it’s pretty much healed after antibiotics and pain medication, and cleaning it off daily. She’s 10 years old and still full of energy.

    He is a great example of just how wonderful and personable rabbits can be. They are certainly not an easy pet and require multiple hours a day to take proper care of them (especially if you have a single bunny). My rabbit, Bennett, has so much personality. She is so loving and runs around in circles when she sees me because she’s so excited to spend time with me 🥰 She loves to snuggle but only on the floor or a surface - she does not like to be picked up, which people may not know about some rabbits. She is obsessed with bananas, but once when I offered her asparagus she not only ignored it but hopped away from it, stared at me, and thumped to show her displeasure in me just offering it to her 😂 so now I know she REALLY hates asparagus and I’ll never offend her by offering it to her ever again! So glad this little bunny was rehabilitated and will find a forever home. to anyone who thinks a rabbit may be right for them, know it’s a long commitment and they require a lot of special care but they can bring you so much joy and love.

  • @astridroseby

    How is he so sweet! I'm glad you saved him, I can't believe they were going to euthanise over such a minor fracture. It looked worse than it ended up being. I'd adopt him if I was in the area. I had a bunny and he was not a fan of being handled but loved scritches so as long as he didn't get picked up he was happy. This bun is precious.

    • @sjbock
      @sjbock 2 года назад +3

      It could have been the cost of treatment or surgery on the rabbit's leg, the relatively high mortality rate of rabbits under anesthesia combined with the low chance of successfully treating the fracture that led to the owner's decision to euthanize.

    • @bun04y
      @bun04y 2 года назад

      @@sjbock The treatment they chose to do on T-Bone was expensive...all the sedation. I would have freaked out if a vet suggested that many checks for my rabbit. I wouldn't have cared about the costs...just putting a rabbit under so much as they don't usually tolerate sedation. So glad that T-Bone tolerated the sedation so well. Many moons ago, I had a rabbit with a broken leg. We just splinted her and she did just fine. Later we had some fireworks go off near our house that scared her so she started mutilating her front leg. She kept tearing off her bandage to get at her leg...so we taped a syringe cover over her leg... I think that she had that off in a day. However the tape used to attach the cover to her leg worked as she was so busy trying to remove the tape that she finally left her leg alone long enough for it to heal. After that we always made sure that she was in a nice quiet room for fireworks.

    How long does a pet rabbit typically live when it's fed and cared for properly?

    • @Feed_the_Kitty_a_Hotdog
      @Feed_the_Kitty_a_Hotdog 2 года назад

      10 to 12 years like a cat or a dog and if they’ve been spayed or neutered they can properly litterbox train. No cat litter paper based litter only. I have a 11 year, two 10 years olds, a 9 year old and an 8 years old of my own, and one foster that’s 1 years old. 4 months ago I had to put down my 12 year old sue to major health issues.

    • @Melissa0774
      @Melissa0774 2 года назад +1

      @@Feed_the_Kitty_a_Hotdog Does spaying the females affect their health, hormone wise? Do they actually remove the ovaries? I would imagine rabbits would have an especially hard time with not having the estrogen and progesterone since they get stressed so easily, compared to other animals.

    I was wondering why someone would opt for euthanasia over a simple broken bone, but then did the math, and the vet costs are actually no joke. Bunnies are so wiggly and stress easily, that them being sedated is probably the only way to safely change the splint (meaning they can't do it themselves at home). Also the amount of x-rays add up, as well as seeing the specialist, and the potential cost of it not working and the need for surgery.
    I really hope that after this the ex-owner didn't go off and just buy another bunny. If you can't afford the vet, don't get the pet.
