Cutting the umbilical cord was exciting and a bit “scary” for me. I started cutting mine when I moved to live at res in University back in 2010 and fully cut it when I moved to Amsterdam with my first job out of uni 😄 I live in Canada now and it’s been great. I feel you on the home sickness portion 😩💙

Wow you had to cut the umbilical cord earlier than me and am sure the Netherlands journey prepared you for the big move to Canada.

New subbie here🥳 I found you on Facebook and decided to come here. I've cut mine when I moved to res in first year varsity. I grew up as an independent child since I was always the youngest amongst my friends and classmates...so I always challenged myself to do things on my own even at home. But financially, it was challenging but you just learn to live with what you have lol.
You know one of the reasons I have not been applying for scholarships overseas is the fear of being in a different country from my mom, let alone continent😭 (maybe my umbilical cord has not fully fallen😆) but I'll have to do it at some point.
But I'm also with the people saying make ends meet where you are now. Unemployment is REAL here in SA. Listen, I have a master's degree kunzima to get employment.
Try getting used to video calls with your love ones for now until things get better for you and you are able to visit home. I wish you all the best and I pray God gives you strength to continue and make a way where the is no way.❤️
