Great stuff man. You lose me at times because Idk what I’m doing but that’s why I’m watching your tutorials. You’ve helped me a great deal and I’m sure there’s a lot more people than just me. I’m glad to see y’all are finally getting recognized for everything y’all do for the community with sponsors. I’ve seen another speaking gig you did the other day. The British accent is loved by Americans and you could sell ice cubes to Eskimo. You gotta great speaking voice and you would really shine in documentary type stuff or historical retelling of events. Best of wishes and Godspeed to all of you
Great intro! I've been waiting for your video on this. It'd be nice to have an audio option to sound more like SRS, but in game VOIP has been needed for a while.
Thank you for this tutorial. You questioned why you would have multiple ICS setup. In modern helicopters like the H60 Seahawks you could have 2 or more ICS settings. Simply put - It's designed to reduce excess chatter during complex situations with multiple external comms happening simultaneously.
Excellent tutorial. Quick question: If I wanted to submit a scenario for your wargames series, where would I do that? I think this is a question a lot of people have...
Just here is fine, but I'm kind of full at moment so turning them away. Will hopefully catch up with them over next 2 weeks and then will start taking suggestions again. Thanks for asking.
I've just started watching your channel and I love the videos, the scenarios, the what ifs. Just a technical note, quite often the game sound is so loud compared to the voices, even Cap's, that it's hard to hear what's being said, especially for me as a non-native English and non-"flight jargon" speaker so the sound mix could do with some tweaking. Other than that ace content. 🙂
ED, can you add a hot mic enable for use with interphone. Front and back seaters don't have time to push to talk during battle, they need to hear each other breathe and think.
Thanks for the great concise tutorial. Great feature. The only thing I don't like about the lobby being within the DCS.exe process, is when DCS crashes you have no way of letting people know you crashed, need to reboot or whatever else.
@3:12 This! This corrected an issue I was having where Discord (I thought) was reducing my mic to basically inaudible when I had any other window in focus. Very annoying that Windows has this as the default setting.
I really hate having to setup 3rd party things for games, besides discord of course. This will make the game seem so much more alive for those of us who never bothered to learn how to make SRS work. Looks like a great system for the UI overlay. I do hope they put in a slight filter. Not like a terrible drive through sound, but something a bit less computer desk quiet.
Teamspeak kept the interface like garbage for the longest time, I understand they changed it after Discord growing but I will never use it again, but Discord is a memory hog (thanks Electron) and has some quirks I hate, Vent was never good. The only one I really like despite its faults is Mumble. It interfaces well with outside authenticators, not a memory hog, Ice, can configure a lot for absolute lowest of low latencies, and it has overlay like Discord. Also positional audio, kinda handy sometimes.
@@jamegumb7298 Guilded is a lot like Discord, but also has some better options for squad talk. I only use discord because it is what just about everyone uses.
Great stuff CAP,thx ....I do have problem when hosting MP with F16 or FC3 planes or MODs based on FC3 ,that my Mic is not active as soon as someone join the server???is there a problem if there are other apps like Discord or TS3 running in background or do we have to open specific port for DCS VoIP ,thx in advance
This may be a bit outside just the voice chat feature, but can we set up a server, within our installation of DCS, on one PC and have it joined by another PC running DCS within the same LAN, provided both PCs have access to Internet? Do they need to have Internet access? So, within a LAN (gigabit LAN) can I join 1, 2 or 3 PCs running DCS so that 2 to 4 people can fly together? Say we’re all 4 using the A-4E-C Skyhawk in the Marianas map. Does that work? If we all were to use the F-18, would each of the 4 PCs need its own paid copy of the F-18?
If you set this up, but then are flying with someone using SRS is it just a case of unticking the 'Voice Chat' box in DCS Settings/Audio? Are the radio Key binds then available to use in SRS or discord without DCS reacting to them? It is probable that when flying different servers it will be necessary to easily switch what comms method you are using depending on which server. It would be impossible to have to configure distinct buttons for Discord , SRS and DCS voice.
There is still a lot of SRS functionality that has no equivalent in the DCS system (e.g. LOTAC integration for Human GCIs to name just one). ED are working on enhancing the system to provide fully equivalent facilities. Until then the GR will stay with SRS but keep close eye on ED's development (We do talk to each other!).
Any idea when servers will be dropping SRS for this? So far I had bad experiences with SRS like randomly being disconnected so this is currently the most promissing feature for me for the game.
Checked, Yes it does work in VR, but the 'white dot cursor' used to interact with the chat window may be hard to find since its not aligned with the 'cross' cursor. Mine is offset 60 degrees right and 20 degrees below the cross cursor.
I have a question reguarding key binding. When assigning keybinds fro radio 1, 2, and 3, which radios do they assign to. For example, in the A-10C, is radio 1 the UHF, VHF AM, or VHF FM radio in the realistic mode? Thanks
You talked about binding MIDS PTTs, but I see nothing in the tutorial or in game about using MIDS radios with this system - it never shows up in the radio VOIP dialogue window. Assuming you have Link setup and you're both on the MIDs freq, does it work as any other radio, just doesn't show up in the interface?
Hi! IF I use SRS should I have this disabled in DCS setup? I noticed there is a cross in that box and I dont remember putting it on. I just wonder does it do some "weirdos" if I use SRS and voice chat is enabled, or DO they even need eachother or can be used at same time?
I'm a noob at DCS, and while browsing the hundreds of vids I've watched, SRS has come up, but since I'm not ready for multiplayer, I never bothered to get it. That said, this looks like it's a MUCH better solution, the fewer 3rd party stuff running in the background the better. NOW... To make this work with ATC, Wingmen, Tanker, etc. Not that I've yet succeeded at an air-to-air refueling yet (though I did do not one but TWO successful traps earlier today), but that comms menu is a pain that so far I've been ignoring. I looked at Viacom a little, but that seems wicked complicated on it's own, and it's yet another app in the background.
Push to talk means push and hold it pressed to talk, or just push and then push again to turn it off? EDIT: ah, it's press and hold! Does the comms pop-up need it be up all the time?
It’s really simple. Just go to your aircraft search bar and type in “comm” and it will let you bind your keys, then you use the f1-12 keys to choose your topic
It is an emergency channel. In aviation the frequencies are 121.5 mHz (VHF) and 243 mHz (UHF). It is used to communicate while having an emergency. Since many air and ground units are listening to those channels on a spare radioset there's always someone who can relay your emergency to the appropriate agencies for help.
Can you do a video of how would a Chinese carrier group stand up if it decided to go after Australia? So how would the fleet stand up against the Australian air force and navy? The PL15s should lose their advantage against the F35As. Australia would also make it interesting with our AIM120D's and AGM-158 JASSM's, we would obviously have plenty of time to prepare with our 3 over the horizon radar networks spotting them from over 1000km away.
Pl15 is overrated in DCS. the creators literally made the missile a god. Even GS said that pl15 is too good than real life. So I think in DCS, Chinese navy will win.
@@andrewsmall6834 uuh I know that you said fleet and ofcourse they wouldn't send their entire fleet, I just meant to say that some Chinese things are overrated In DCS.
I believe it is a grave mistake to make the radio bindings global instead of per aircraft. That is something that one can do with SRS for example. Kinda disappointing.
Christ. I’ve never played multiplayer and I’m trying to get into it. This is the most complicated damn thing to be able to talk. How about “tune to the frequency and hit the button”. I tried to follow but I’m done. Lol Not your fault CAP….it’s just too involved. Maybe I will try SRS

I was wondering about how to do comms, things like discord and SRS, however, comms via the game seems like a much better idea to me.
