    Should remove the oil fill cap before unscrewing the oil drain bolt to get rid of any back pressure and easier flow of the oil. Nice video !

    @jsin22366322 7 лет назад +18

    Literally, only the metal lower and 2 lock nuts. No need to to remove all of that.

    Whenever I do an oil change and I've had several R1's, I always just leave it on the side stand so as I drain the oil out after a few minutes I tilt the bike back and forth from left to right, you'll be amazed how much more oil comes out rather than just leaving it on its rear stand!

      thanks, i was just about to put it on a paddock

      Correct and the same goes for probably all models, just not only for the R1

    Does the 60'th edition have the individually numbered plate on the front portion of the fuel tank like the 2012 WGP 50'th did? I was hoping to see this in your video but you didn't really pan over that section of the bike.

    If you're not changing the oil filter, can you change the oil without removing any fairings?

  • @lwsevo9
    @lwsevo9 8 лет назад +9

    Definitely do NOT need to remove all the plastic like that to access the oil filter. At least I never do.

    • @mdsupersportrider1621
      @mdsupersportrider1621  8 лет назад +1

      I can see how you would do that. That being said it is a lot easier to get the filter off without the fairing in the way...

      MDSupersportRider what kind off oil is recommended i know that full synthetic oil but what brand is 100%synthetic

    • @blue03r6
      @blue03r6 8 лет назад

      chidochido456654 hes using amsoil. many brands make full synthetic. i choose to run only ester based synthetics because it is the best kind. it clings to metal, lubricates better when higher mechanical pressure is applied to it and uneffected by temps. amsoil doesnt say if their oil is pao or ester based so i choose not to buy it. i use motul 7100. also race oils do not last a full service interval and are not recommended for street use. if you want to change it 3 times sooner than the 6-7k mile interval then thats up to you but its a waste of money.
      also, no need to remove the fairings. just the lower alum part is needed.

    The Reason why people use Aluminum Foil Is Because There Able To Direct The Flowing Oil To The Container or Bucket That They Are Using For Dirty Oil, And Also To Keep The Oil From Getting On The Exaust And Staining It Once The Bike Gets Turned On And Starts To Burn The Oil!! But Im Sure You Know All Of That. Awsome Work On The Video and Beautiful Bike Dude!!! I Really like all the Aniversary Bikes that Yamaha Puts out! There DirtBikes Look Really really Awsome with those colors tooo, Especially when they are switched to SuperMotos and Always Kept clean instead of Being Dirty.... Of course.. . From being a DirtBikes! But Yea.. . . . I was Sent Over From Dukes Channel, So I subbed To your Channel too, because Of Awsome Bike videos! Keep up the great work Broskii!!!!

    I think u missed showing how to pop the rivets (i don't think it in the shop manual) :
    To remove them:
    Push in the center until it clicks, and gently remove the whole thing.
    To install:
    Set it up so the center pin is pulled out
    Once it is in the bodywork hole push the center pin in.

    I put 15w-50 for my first 600 mile service right at 599.6 miles on the odometer. The owners manual stater the I could use that weight of oil too......?? Not sure if I should go with the 10w-40.........

    just a question I changed my r1 2016 oil filter today the originel reference of the filter is 5GH-13440-50 but I put a filter with this reference 5GH-13440-60 the question is that a problem for my bike or not ?
    Thanks ...

    Definitely stick with factory oil filter!!!!! Yamaha has linked engine failure to high flow oil filters such as K&N. They will not honor warranty or extended warranties

    • @yamipizza8357
      @yamipizza8357 6 лет назад

      AYE OK SURE That is definitely true. K&Ns have proven to explode on these bikes in particular. That being said, the Yamaha Y.E.S. Extended Warranty requires you use only YamaLube and OEM filter or it voids that $600+ warranty.
