Absolutely spot on Barry with your prognosis . The majority of these people are graduate theorists who have no handle on reality or practical knowledge of the motor trade . They just believe vehicles are just another commodity.
The lies about EV range is astonishing, adverts claiming 450 miles etc ... anyone who has driven one in real world conditions knows you can half that figure or worse. iD Buzz report the other day , 110 mile range on a motorway at motorway speeds with a family of four plus luggage - that's next to useless!!!! And for £70k,what a bargain....
EV adverts are pushed on radio stations its very rare you hear one wanting you to buy an ICE vehicle these days, I expect it's the same on the tv these days too although I don't watch it any more. Everywhere you go it's EV's being pushed left right & centre & people don't want them. As I've said many times I don't hate them but let the public decide on what they want as they don't work for everyone, sure if you can charge it at home it's a lot cheaper for now but give it time they'll be wanting more revenue from you whether as road tax or from your electricity bill & don;t get me started on public rip off charging points.
Public charging is a rip off but at the same time it puts a strain on the grid when there's no wind or sunlight. It should be cheaper when the grid is abundant with clean energy. Yesterday 55% of our electricity requirements were powered by wind. Today 28%. This should reflect on what we pay per kWh. Loads of EV advertising on TV now. Driving ICE is like smoking in public. EV are generally a lot cleaner (unless of course it's charged using fossil fuels) I'm EV all the way. Planet is warming because we have burned 1.3 trillion barrels of oil since 1900. That's enough oil to fill 81,761,006 olympic swimming pools.
The easiest solution is to let the market decide. If they’re as good as we’re being led to believe there should be no mandates. No fines to manufacturers for selling more ICE cars. No discounted electricity for EVs. Make the playing field level. If they’re really that great then we’ll see EVs selling many more cars than their ICE equivalent. I don’t understand why this isn’t the case already. Any EV fan, please tell me why this isn’t currently the way things are.
The trouble is the steady supply of new company cars that people want to buy secondhand aren’t available. We were happy buying 3yearold petrols and diesels, the added complexity of EVs (BEV, PHEV and HEV) and the usability makes them not an option for those of us that use a vehicle for recreation. complexity, Limited range, lack of towing ability means we’ll keep our ice vehicles. Company cars are a benefit in kind, none are allowed to have tow-bars fitted, lease cars are also hard to spec with tow-bars.
I don't mind the electric motor but until the is a better way of preventing the electric in the car to keep it going how wants to spend hours queuing to charge the battery's up also a what more range and who has the money to buy one especially when we are struggling to pay to heat or homes and put food on the table mabey going back to the horses and cart may be the answer
Barrie, where do you see that sale price history on auto trader, when you do searches? And the date it went up for sale? I don't see it. Just the current sale price?
Have you ever noticed , if there is a gov. subsidy on something it always seems to benefit wealthy people? When the guv. were promoting cycling they didnt subsidise push bikes by £50, did they?
You can't force people to buy a product they simply don't want. If someone wants to buy an EV with their own free will, fine no problem with that, but forcefully, ain't gonna happen.
No we won’t have cheap EV cars in Uk. The price of ICE cars will increase to the point where EV will seem comparable…Would you want to buy a 60k+ EV or a 60k ICE? Similar with electricity prices ….1/3 of UK energy is produced by renewables yet the prices are of the highest in Europe and much higher when we were using all gas, coal, oil, etc,,,
The uk government give £13,600,000,000 to dirty oil every year in the form of tax breaks. That money would build 5913 wind turbines and make enough electrickery to drive 141 billion miles. Thats 2446 miles for every single person in the uk every single year.
The oil industry pays tax. So the government gets more than it gives. Not so for EVs. Plus the wind doesnt blow all the time. Nor does the sun shine all the time.
@@BarrieCrampton if the government build and own the renewables the whole thing may as well be tax. After the first cple years of course to pay for the install. One wind turbine costs 2.3million. it generates 6 million kWh a year. Sell that at 80p a pop in fast chargers it will give back £120 million over it's lifetime. Sell it at 25p per kWh it'll make £37.5 million. Minus the 2.3million and maintenance.

We won't get cheap EV cars, we will get more expensive/regulated ICE until we 'choose' properly.
Property! Everyone driving an ICE car has already chosen properly
If you have a good reliable product, does not need selling it sells itself,no subsidies ice or EV

Hence they've sold about 5
@andrewwaller5913 5 too many :)
Careful, even with facts like those, you'll still upset the EVangelists.
@Ayeright. Don't care ,they have long lost the power of critical thought.

@@rickyjulian496 but the uk switching to EVs will change literally nothing.
Think thats everything covered Barry! Now how are we not buying EVs… 🇬🇧🏴🚜
It’s a cult Barrie

The sad thing is that these people actually believe the nonesense they are spouting.
They could try giving away EVs, but I'd still tell them to keep them.

I would never ever buy a car through CarWow!
Bedankt
Octopus and everything electric are just grifters…?
Hi Barrie, enjoy the vids but I find the volume on the low side on all of them. If you can jack it up a bit I'd be grateful.
Barrie, where do you see that sale price history on auto trader, when you do searches? And the date it went up for sale? I don't see it. Just the current sale price?
