Hey Thomas that was very cool i liked looking at all the different systems around the World. Since I only stream from my phone I cant do both so until I figure that out. No sound but pictures. I would love for everyone to hear it. Still tweaking it by sound proofing, this livingroom needed it badly. Lots of reverb especially my left speaker is only 2ft from corner right one flows into kitchen 15ft to that door. Crazy. Where do i send the pictures. Thxs
I enjoy watching these types of videos. It's cool to see what others use for gear and especially cool to see systems that incorporate both newer and vintage components.
This is awesome video Thomas Thanks! Also huge thank you to all the people who sent their videos in really appricate that ! Very glad other people share the same passion for audio ! Thomas ! Those JBL-580s i am about to review are 90db effeciant and the IOTAVX-SA3 drives them hard I had to plug the rear bass ports bass is outstanding tight with control and punch ! The 580s i believe slipped under the radar i believe ! So much easier to frive the 580s than the 530s and their more lively than the 530s, Hope you tune in when I pop the hood 😆 these 6.5 inch woofers are heavy ! Sale price of 600.00US compared to msrp of 1500.00US 😆 thanks again Thomas and those who sent videos in!
Beautiful Macs, Sooo jealous! Emotiva & Focal person, beautiful setup also, u r audio blessed! I absolutely luv these 'viewer systems' specials b/c I inevitably see speakers I've never heard of b4. Bravo everyone!🍻🍸🎸🎶🎶🎶 Thanx Thomas 4 doing this, you're a class act!
This puts my little hi-fi system to shame. I have an SQ quadraphonic setup from the mid to late 1970s. All Sony equipment, consisting of an SQA-200 driving two TA-1150s, with a "Precise" PSP7X turntable, but I'm happy with it. :)
Nice idea. I also saw some systems that were well integrated into the listening room in terms of overall look and coziness. Of course we all look for the best affordable sound first, which is sometimes working against the looks of the listening room. But in the end the whole experience consists of good sound AND good music AND a room to feel well in to make it petfect.
i had some advent prodigys in 1990 and for 380 bucks they were pretty sweet. foam arounnd the woofer started crumbling a few years ago but they still worked
I am currently breaking in my new Focal Kanta 2 speakers with new speaker cables. I have carpet, so I'm considering IsoAcoustic supports as shown in the first setup.
Thomas, Did you see that little small passive Dynaco Quadapter at the top by the large Advent speaker at the 3min50sec mark on your video? Created by late great David Hafler, founder of Dynaco. This was from the quad sound era. I have 3 of the more advanced Dynaco D-1 IIL 5 channel passive processors made of heavy gauge metal 1/8 inch thick. They passively derive ambiance from a 2 channel stereo signal to create 5 channel surround. I first bought 2 of them in 1992 for around $90 each. They had the spring loaded terminals. I then bought 3 more with the upgraded gold posts for around $20 each in 1999. I should have bought all I could for that price. They work marvelously. I have used them to expand existing surround channels on newer 7 channel A/V receivers...I used 3 of them on a 2010 7.1 channel Yamaha 140wpc all channels driven. The Dynaco D-1 IIL restructured my 7.1 channel to a 16.1 channel surround system from it. Somehow it was still able to derive more subtle ambiance from the surround channels and back channels. The cool thing with these passive decoders, is that the amp never sees below a 4ohm load connected through these Dynaco's.....I wonder how many people have them and have used them in this way. I also wonder if I actually created hieght channels when I did that setup with that Yamaha? Thanks for listening Thomas! Hear is the link to the review from 1999 on this decoder, plus much more info about the device than I provided. I had them setup in a home I owned at the time. My theater room was rectangular 27'x 15'...I used 2 10" Valedine subs...which made my setup in 2011 16.2 channels. Great separation and the best sound stage I ever heard in my life. I used JBL speakers and Klipsch surround speakers...I matched my center speaker with my main L& R JBL speakers. Unlike today's multichannel A/V receivers, these Dynaco's can derive these extra channels from existing stereo sources in a clean passive way that enhances most music. Today's surround systems are not designed to take advantage of older stereo sources like these older Dynaco's can. www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/899/decoder.htm
You made some nice room treatments but never told us about it.I am building some during my time at home.It takes so long,I should have just bought them. Thanks.
Hello Thomas. You again recommend changing/upgrading the tubes in the Musical Paradise DAC. I know you tried a bunch to come up with the combination you have. Could you please tell us what tubes you are using ? Thanks.
I wished I done this & I might. But I wish there were people on youtube that tell people to buy certain cheap speakers & install scanspeak drivers or scanspeak divers from another cabinet or certain drivers & crossover to a different cabinet. These parts can be bought cheap. It's just the cabinets that they charge much for. I saw a long time ago that people did it with no trouble. But I see people on youtube buy or make their own cabinets & I think that is too much trouble. I bet there are people that sells piles like this & people on youtube would go crazy over it. Putting great parts in a cheap cabinet. One could brace & seal, laminate & insulate the cabinet themselves. Or there'd be more people on youtube build stuff for people. I had a friend that died here lately & a few years ago he took me to a friend who owned his on speaker & sub distribution & building company. He was going to show us how he built stuff. I've heard most major speaker brands, but he had some big speakers that had a wonder easy on one's ears sound that shocked me that I never heard before.
I can only dream about such a beautiful pieces. Oh well, going to punch a pillow. I have Sony TAF 700 ES, Sony CDP XB 930 QS, Garrard DD 455 and B&W S 602 S3
The subwoofer addition is something I do and agree even for vinyal record playing and audio cd apart from watching films. I find most good audio system owner are happy with only speakers and ofcourse subwoofer is a part of any home theater. But for me especially the new subwoofer s are fabulous and should be used even while playing 2 0 or stereo.
3:50 Stacking those Dynaco units as shown will result in several early failures, unless you never turn them on. I am thinking this was just for the photo

Thomas & Stereo in a bedroom system. Man it freaking amazing:) Keep the power tame like a proper sub should be and the power comes in perfectly. I’ve always been a fan of getting the most powerful sub you can. Sealed for me
I have plastic Fisher Price turntable from 1978 with built in speaker. I use it to play my flexi discs I got from cereal boxes in the 70s. Is good sounding hi-fi, you show my system too?
The content is really interesting but the presentation is not that much tbh, it's not you, it's just reading a message some one wrote is never interesting in general. I would love to see the owners talk about their system themselves, it would much more interesting and involving. Voice messages or a video it doesn't matter. I know this can make the video a lot longer (I don't mind btw) but you can always ask them to be as concise as possible and maybe give them a time limit.

Thank you for always being so positive Thomas. Much appreciated especially in these times.
Thanks for another great video, Thomas. Its very interesting to see what gear others have. Thanks to those who have shared.
Love drooling over other setups, and i also appreciate your awareness of people who may not have such high end systems but still love the journey.
I just discovered your channel today, and I like what I see. Thanks for making these videos.

I also love that macintosh turntable. Great collection of vintage marantz too.

He use those covers only when the system is off. He had them made actually for these monoblocs.

How they sound is what is the most importance.
My wife has more bass than she used to... Sounds too analytical and a little shrill sometimes. Might be time to make an upgrade.
