- Erecting our seasonal awning up for the season.
Luckily no divorce in a bag here….. just long silences!!!!!!! 🤣
I have to say it went up very quickly but being up for the season we took a bit of time and fine tweaking to get it secured nicely.
As you will see in the video it was quite stress free. The hardest part was getting the awning through the rail and not really because of the weight but the fact it’s a brand new van and someone forgot the silicone spray that they brought last year in preparation for this exact reason. 🙈
The reasons we went for another air awning was because of the risk of damage from poles hitting the van if it ever gave way to the weather. We had this issue with our very first caravan and we will never go back to a poled awning for that reason alone. Yes you pay a premium for the air but it’s a price worth paying if like me you like the sides of your van to stay damage free.
Making our decision to go with this one was made quite easy after some advice we’d had previously off Mark @Renshawscaravanaccesories. We also paid a visit to the caravan show in March so we could view the short listed awnings when erected.
We had narrowed it down to 2 awnings in the end that fitted into our budget. They were the camptec all season and the Dorema that we purchased. We were close to buying the Camptech one as it was £800 cheaper and came with everything including electric pump, wheeled storage bag, carpets and storm straps (Show deal) but the quality just wasn’t there.

The Ricci’s 😍
They not easy but so very worth it 🙂
A lot easier than a poled awning as well…. 😂❤
Where is the carpet from!??? Fits perfectly.
I'd like to know that to it's lovely
Hi it’s from #Renishawcaravanaccesories in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
Apologies for the late response. We didn’t get a notification.
Been there done that ,, had the heart attack a few hours later .. seriously ..they ought to call them widow makers not divorce makers ..
I’m definitely buying an electric pump.
It always helps if you close all the taps on the awning first ! 🙈
Tbh we/I didn’t realise there was more than one filling point. 🤣
Haha, air awnings are not a divorce in a bag, that was the old full awnings with poles , air are easy now xx
True story right there ! 🤣
Hi we've just this bought this awning after watching this video😊. Did you have any problems with the front door zip being too tight after putting up?. Ive spent ages re pegging and adjusting the air beams but it doesnt seem to slacken off where the beam comes through to meet the little front porch. Cheers
Hi Craig, yes we had issues with the zip on the front too. I tried everything too to make it easier. As you look at it from outside to the right.
TBH after having it up last season for a few months we were a bit disappointed in how it performed.
If I were you I’d be contacting your supplier and asking for their assistance in getting a remedy.
We returned ours at the end of the season and it was sent to Dorema for investigation.
Don’t get me wrong I loved the traditional look of the Daytona air but we have bought a new Dometic residence now. It’s going up this weekend.
Feel a little guilty now we’ve not done a review of the awning, we just thought it was just ours that had this issue. We try to keep things positive on the channel especially after all the issues we are still having with the new caravan.
Caravaning eh !!!! Hopefully the summer arrives soon. 😎🤣
@@Riccicaravanadventures Thanks for replying. That's a bit worrying that you needed to return/replace it. Did you have many other issues other than the door? I hope you find the new awning to be better and the ☀️ makes an appearance soon!
@@craigpratt3329 we’ve been quite lucky hence us not wanting to say anything about the issues as we thought it was just us being particular.
As I say I prefer the look of the Daytona. Hopefully you get some joy with yours. Are you Seasonal or touring ?
@@Riccicaravanadventures 1st year of seasonal so first ever full sized awning. We are at the coast so I was hoping an air awning might take away the stress of worrying about poles damaging the caravan in high winds. Hopefully I won't regret the decision😄. Hope you have a good season.
@@craigpratt3329 yep that was the reason we went air as I mention a few times 🤣
Get yourself some of the rebar Marquee pegs. They are fantastic and won’t budge. Only downside at the end of the season is trying to get them back out. 🤣
Have a great first season, you’ll love it.
How long are you there for. The season lol ?
@@andrewwelsh4968 we tend to put our awning up end of May and it comes down end of August normally.
We are there mostly every other weekend through spring then every weekend in the Summer.
@@andrewwelsh4968 as much as we can ! 😉
Impressive but wow, too much effort
It goes up once a year for a few months so it’s worth the effort. Especially for the children when it rains. It keeps them out the van. 😂
@@Riccicaravanadventures
R okay I thought you had to do it every time you pitched up
And we’ve got four kids so fully understand that . Much needed valuable space. Thanks
Yes we wouldn’t go to that effort for a few days 😂.
We normally use a porch awning for the short stays until the weather improves for the seasonal to go up. That takes around 10 mito put up 😍
