I am SO late to comment on this video but I just tried making one of these little guys after months of sitting here and watching the tutorial over and over. Didn't really come out too good for my first try unfortunately (I hand sewed it because the sewing machine I have has two speeds, 0mph and mach 20, which is not good for small projects like this). I think I sewed the back and spine wrong because it's really visibly bunched and the spine is flopping to one side and not staying straight up. And I definitely also did the head wrong as it's very lopsided and I had way more material left on the forehead piece than you had on yours (at least a half inch more, don't know how that happened). It's really derpy looking, but it's kind of charming in a 'small malformed potato' kind of way though! I'm gonna try again because I have a mighty need for my own army of these little cuties but I'd like to know what I did wrong...maybe made the stitches too close together? Or didn't add enough seam allowance?
@@Imjustreallytiredman honestly a little potato dragon is still cute haha, at a guess i’d say that the spine piece got too bent whilst sewing, causing it to fold to one side, but without actually seeing the plush i can’t say haha. As for the head it’s just a practice makes perfect thing, the tension with which you’re holding the material makes a big difference, if you use really stretchy material for any part of this plushie it’s hard to keep it even when you’re holding and sewing with your hands! I use 5mm pile minky for my plushies but some brands of minky i’ve used have been super stretchy and harder to use, stiffer fabric is generally better for that! :]
@@Hebi_haberdashery Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah aligning the frill to the back was a little bit of a struggle. Trying to keep it straight with the pattern lines as I was sewing was tough and I most likely tried too hard to keep the frill curved with the back's guideline instead of letting it behave as it wanted. The only problem with that is it was hard to see how much of the top of the frill I was leaving so when it was time to flip the plush over there was any frill showing at all, if that makes sense. I added 1/4 inch extra seam allowance on the bottom so I had a little more excess to work with before snipping it off, but even with that it felt as if the frill was tapering off the body before I reached the tail, which is why I tried to keep it aligned the first time. Something that I think'll just take more practice on my part, unless you have some tips for that part specifically. I'm also using 5mm pile minky I got for the whole thing but maybe I should try to find a thinner minky for the frill? Once folded it got a little bulky (even with the excess snipped). I also used a back stitch for the body to keep everything secure, but maybe a running stitch would have been better to keep tension lower? I'll try out a couple things for the next one and see what happens!
@ honestly i think you’re doing stuff right haha the seam allowance on the bottom of the spine that I use is more like 1.5cm which is over 1/2 an inch. :]
@@Hebi_haberdashery Hey, I also couldn't find them in the patterns section. Were they removed? Or am I blind? 😅 Edit: I am blind, it was hiding from me.
I have a question, i was wondering what fabric you use for your plush i only just started to make plushies myself, and i was wondering what fabric you use (bc i cant find anything like it at my spotlight so i am guessing you order it online)
I'm always scared using pen or markers on the fabric to mark the pattern, cause I'm afraid it will bleed through. For a long time I was using the paper I used to draw the pattern and cut around it, when its held down by needles. It worked, but also moved around alot. I'm still learning and well yea.. these are cute.
you went to a convention recently? I did too it was great and kinda funny because there were a bunch of people in really cool cosplays and I just put my Toothless plush on my head and it just stayed on while I walked around it was really funny

Hmmm, it would work if you bent it upwards, it doesn’t work to bend it down, because it would interfere with now they lay, you would basically have to edit the shape of the tail starting with the body side pieces and then re-measure the underbelly/ gusset area to fit
Where did you get the fabric you're using? I would really like to make one of these, but I can't seem to find a place that has enough different colors of minky.
Question, why is the forehead piece much longer than it needs to be? I’ve made a few of these at this point, and I always have a good inch or two of the forehead piece that I need to cut off because it doesn’t fit on the available head space. Is this a mistake in the pattern or am I cutting it wrong?
it's not a mistake it's just that the length can be variable sometimes, like on one side you might hold it tighter and there will be more hanging off on that side than the other, sewing is rarely even, the extra fabric is to give the illusion of symmetry, I don't cut mine off I fold it into the head but it's just so you DEFINITELY don't have holes haha
something I can’t recruit people to the tau cause on,, alas these ones are super cute !! :D if we ever drag the sewing machine I own from the endless depths I might hypothetically be able to make one of these,, also get well soon >:[ or else

Can i make embroidery files for these critters? For personal use of course!! I can also send them to you for you
Of course! You can edit the pattern in any way you like! I don’t have an embroidery machine yet but that sounds very cute haha
Never tell me to look up something again, I will do it and be traumatized
Damascus goats... *shivers*
@ that makes sense, thanks for clarifying!
I'm trying to find the patterns on your patron but can't find it, where is it on your patron?
In the ‘patterns’ collection otherwise just scroll
OK, I found the patterns, I would just like to know how to gat the patterns, how do i do that?
You just download them and print them out like any pattern haha
What if I don’t get enough of them? Are they still like shurikens?
something I can’t recruit people to the tau cause on,, alas
these ones are super cute !! :D if we ever drag the sewing machine I own from the endless depths I might hypothetically be able to make one of these,,
also get well soon >:[ or else
I will lol
