That was the greatest intro to a sporting event I have ever seen. Gave me chills. The passing of the baton from Verne to Brad as well as from Alabama to Georgia was phenomenally well done. Music fit well, exceptionally edited.
It's hard to even fathom watching the SEC without CBS. It's been an inextricable part of every Saturday afternoon in the fall. Vern and Gary, now Brad and Gary! Many great lead-ups and aerial shots, the amazing kick-offs, the nervous start to the games, the many controversial calls, and the memorable endings! Almost like saying goodbye to a friend. Thanks for everything CBS, including all you behind-the-scenes operators, truck personnel, statisticians, and camera operators. Of course, thanks Vern, Gary, and Brad- it's been an amazing run!👋
The most memorable SEC game to me was when Tennessee went into the Swamp and ruined Florida's national title hopes. The game that cost Rex Grossman the Heisman
Little did we know, Coach Saban would get his last win against the team that everyone thought he couldn’t beat… what a night to remember. So thankful for the memories
After 28 seasons of SEC Football on CBS, and 23 seasons of the "SEC on CBS", it was time to say goodbye on December 2, 2023 and look at all of the memorable moments of SEC Football during its near three-decade tenure on CBS. It was a bittersweet day for people of a certain age who grew up in the South and in SEC Country during the 2000s and the 2010s, myself included. As an Alabama fan who was born and raised in Knoxville, TN during the first 20 years of this century, I have fond memories of watching SEC Football on CBS at 3:30 in the afternoon on Saturdays during the Fall. From the Hobbnail Boot in 2001 to the Ultimate Camback in 2010. From Auburn's miracle wins against Georgia and Alabama in 2013 to Alabama's 4th and 31 against Auburn in 2023. Whether it be Tennessee storming the Neyland field and tearing down the goal posts after their win against Florida in 1998 to Tennessee doing the same thing 24 years later in the same building after defeating Alabama. And every other field storming after beating Alabama from Ole Miss in 2014 to Texas A&M in 2021 to Auburn three times in 2013, 2017, and 2023, the SEC on CBS was there for some of the biggest, most memorable, and most important moments in the history of not only the Southeastern Conference, but College Football as a whole. So as we prepare for the SEC to leave CBS for ABC, and CBS replacing SEC Football with B1G football (it's going to be odd seeing a B1G football game with that CBS theme music), let us remember where we were and what we were doing when those moments happened.
I have been watching the SEC on CBS since I was 8 years old. This is a sad day for me so many great and historic moments on Saturday afternoons. It will not be the same on ESPN. Money has ruined college football 108 year old conference and 25 year old TV partnership both will have disappeared from our lives in a 24 hour period.
Not even an SEC fan (from B1G/Big 12 country). Still gave me chills hearing Verne and Brad speaking together at the end! Happy that we’ll still be hearing them on Saturdays but it won’t be the same
This was very depressing. For this old man, the SEC on CBS was truly the highlight of my week. The thought of the spotlight 3:30PM SEC game of the week on Saturday’s got me thru Mon-Fri. Minnesota at Nebraska…no thanks. I do wish Gary, whom I like, and Brad all the luck next year, but they are as sad as the rest of us. They knew how good they had it. Thank you Verne. Classy move by CBS. I love Vern. Legend. From a guy who was there for every single broadcast at 3:30, thank you for memories that are eternal.
Truth CBS gave all of us SEC fans the SEC across the national airwaves like no one before them. Life could force us to move for jobs, but still the SEC was available to us on Saturdays.
As a depressed UGA fan, it’s sad but this was an iconic game for this theme of the torch being passed. Great football game. Poetic ending to our streak.
@@Macca50yeah duh. Bama shouldn't be in because of holding on the 4th and 31 and the Bond catch but you k ow what somethings never change. Amazing theatrics equals big money
