This is why it's so important to have a good pipeline of young players and a good farm team system...you are going to lose guys almost every year and you have to have options to plug in up and coming players to fill the holes with no alot of cap space to play with.

You're absolutely correct.. hologic or Joshua will never have the same success anywhere else... They may get a little bit more money but their careers will be over in 3 years

If you go somewhere else you might have two more years left in his career and then it's over.. there's nobody alive that can play like Connor Garland to give him time and space to make him score goals.. if you go somewhere else there's probably three years left in this guy's career maybe.. he stays in Vancouver he will always have a job for the Vancouver organization I don't see that happening if he goes to a team like Nashville or Dallas or Chicago or one of those American teams because nobody cares about them

The danger of overpaying on Joshua is that you end up with an even worse situation than what Garland was before last season. A guy making a lot of money with term and not producing at all or making significant contributions outside of the points. And Zadorov could be the next Myers if they're not careful. Yes, Zadorov hits and shoots hard, but I remember when Pavel Bure was a 5'10 beast who didn't just score but threw hits and fought. He was a monster. Then he got the big contract, and got hurt, and suddenly all you could count on were the goals - when he was healthy. Then he wanted out.
Bure was treated poorly in Vancouver, best Canuck ever.

Z is just another casualty of GM’s over paying and having to live with bad contracts…Now every player looks comparatively for their worth $$$$$$
Players like Joshua and Martinook do need to realize that the reason are perceived of as valuable has a whole lot to do with particular coaches and particular team situations and they might get the cash but on other teams won’t get the success. Maybe they shouldn’t care. They are getting some bank and maybe some term. Problem is if they don’t fit in and are duds on teams that don’t fit their style or they get reduced roles from coaches that don’t love them they might have all this embarrassment of having the Luongo situation…ala “my contract sucks”. And might find themselves out of the league sooner than they like.

or was it because of one too many undisciplined penalties. The reason Zaodorov can shine in the playoffs is the rule book changes and he doesn't get called for as many penalties playing his "natural game" That's great, so long as you make it to the playoffs and dont struggle all year killing the penalties he takes (or the suspensions he incurs)
