As a guy, I am so happy hubby tried on these as I got a better reference on my frame. I like the 25 and 30 on hubby (or for myself). The 35 is too way big I feel it overwhelms your look.

Thank you for this great review. I have found it best to go in and try the sizes on. I'm slightly taller than you, but larger framed and the B25 looked ridiculous on me. Plus, I was really annoyed by not being able to carry it in the crook of my arm. My favorite is the retourne B35, which I think is proportioned to look great on every frame. Your video "Spilling the tea on Hermes" was also informative on how well the larger sized Kelly's could look on petite frames.

It depends what you considered "heavy" hehe I think the B25's are very lightweight but yes the leathers can make a big difference in weight and of course how much you pack in them. Haha yes the Birkin bag is just beautiful and totally worth it xx

Mel, this is an amazing comparison video! The effort that went into this is just mindblowing. Really appreciate it. I have a B25 (etoupe epsom GHW) in sellier and it is a truly a sexy bag. I used to have a B30 (gold swift PHW) which I rehomed as it was just too large and heavy for me. I'm a touch taller than you and the B30 looks very nice for our height but I live in the city and people kept walking into my bag and it stressed me out to no end haha. At size 30, and for my lifestyle, I'm taking my Goyard Artois out with me, not a quota bag. Also, I think the deal breaker for the B25 is the handle. I'm by no means a small girl but I can fit the B25 almost at up to elbow (without sleeves, but I live in the tropics so that's 350 days of the year haha) so its a perfect bag for me. I'm looking forward to adding a B25 in the standard retourne next year, which I am confident I will enjoy. And if my fairy fails me, I will be knocking at Eclaire Atelier's door! They have everything! You deserve a million more subbies Mel - this was awesome!

Ahh, my B30 in swift actually held up quite well because I used a 7RP insert! #truestory I'm not a fan of the floppy style either haha. I hope to get a b25 retourne in black togo with palladium hardware. I wanted GHW initially but the PHW on my bleu encre K28 has really grown on me. and I find that PHW is a fresher look - so on this point, I'm totally with Charis on her preference for PHW lol! xoxo

Hi Mel, great video! I will add my two cents. I am 5'7" (~170.2cm) and all three sizes work for me, but I always go smaller with lighter colors. Since dark colors recede, I feel I can go bigger. Having said this, I do not do "POP." No problem with "POP" of color, it is just not my personality. Thank you again for the very informative video, particularly the weights!!
Thank you for the indepth review! Weight of bags is something i look out for these days but i am unsure about the tiny handles of 25. Gosh... so difficult to decide on my first Hermes.
It's my pleasure lovely. Yes as much as I love the B25 the handle drop is definitely a big con if you like to wear your bags on the crook of your arm. However it's really not that bad carry it as a top handle but yes if you want to hands free for a longer period, you may not like this size. The 30 in epsom or swift is pretty light weight however, another thing to consider xx

Yes the B35 definitely a lot bigger, it looks extra big because I have the sellier but in the retourne it does look smaller. Big bags will be back though hehe xx

During my trip to Hawaii, I went in and expressed my interest and I gave the SA the specs I was looking for. I got really excited when she told us to go straight to the 3rd floor because I saw a room there the night before. I was offered my first Kelly 25 in the color I was looking for! Your videos totally made me appreciate Hermes products and especially my ❤️KELLY❤️. I feel like such a lucky girl 🥰. Is it weird that I think about my purse regularly? My pleasure my dear. It really depends if you are a more neutral lover or you prefer color. The options are endless! If you have too many black bags or darker color bags I would go color as Hermes does color so well. Pick a color that you love and that you can imagine going with your wardrobe. However if you prefer neutrals you can’t go wrong with the forever classic which is the gold or even some of their greys as well. I hope that helps xx

Hello Mel, I’m a man and seriously considering purchasing my first Birkin. After I consult my close friends, they think I’m crazy and tell me heterosexual men cannot pull this look off. I respectfully disagree with them and I’m 184 cm and 75 kg. Do you recommend a B30 or B35?
Love ur video ! It is so informative! Weight definitely is a consideration factor for me. from transport to office or to shopping centres. Definitely there are some walking distance. If the bag itself is already q heavy, it is no way to put in more things
As the birkin/kelly bags are so highly sought after and difficult to get at the Hermes boutiques, you will find that on the preloved market or reseller market that the pricing is higher. For the B25 it can be up to 3 times normal retail price as that size is currently the most desired. You can however find B35's for around retail price at the moment but in general it is always more expensive especially if it is in excellent/new condition. I hope that helps Faye xx

Yes I remember that collection. Personally for me it was a little too busy so I didn’t purchase anything from that collection. In saying that I think it’s very innovative that they were the first luxury brand to collab with a popular esport. I mean LoL is such a popular game so I did hear the collection performed quite well so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did this again in the future. Did you like the collection? :)

Yes I think most guys prefer the 30 size and above. You are tall so b25 would look very tiny on you. So glad you loved the mod shots with hubby I’ll have to get him model more lol Ideally what color would you like in a b30? X
Wow! So the Birkin 30 is the same price as a Medium Classic Flap as of November 😲 Plus the Medium Chanel in Black for example is hard to get now world wide in boutiques ( just like the Birkin's)
Yes I find that Chanel is adopting Hermes marketing strategy in a way as there is now is a limit on how many you can buy and often the ones that are in demand get offered to the VIPS first. For that price I prefer a Birkin or Kelly any day but of course still love my classic flaps too x

Loved this video! Of the two styles, I think I am more a Birkin than a Kelly person (I love totes!). Retourne, size 30. the weight comparison is very helpful too, as I don’t like a heavy bag. As for color, maybe an etoupe or the etain, but the malachite is gorgeous. Like most things, they have to grow on me. I would have never thought of styling the bag for a man, but can see them using one as a work bag.! My husband thinks I’m crazy to want one, but I can see value as a heirloom bag, my daughter would love it if I got one! I can’t even imagine how Tamara felt when she lost all of her beautiful bags. Keep up the good work.

I appreciate and was surprised to see male mod shots because you don't see that much in videos only photos in Instagram so thank you so much! I myself own a B30 Retourne Togo in Noir with RGHW and was contemplating if 35 would suit me but I see that it isn't as versatile as the 30 for me in which I could use it day and night as a guy but the 35 would be a great bag for work although I could fit my 13 inch MacBook pro on my 30 just fine. I'll stick with 30 then since it does give me what I need both day and night.

What I never understood why the choose the closure like this it seems a lot of work to close the bag, and when it always opened with the flap in it seems a bit of a mess? And the weight? If it’s empty is already a kilo…. I personally don’t like the birkin also because the handles are short and you can wear your extremely expensive bag only in a very unsafe manner. Looking at pics alone can be quite misleading because the B35 looks massively huge whereas the one I got offered from my local Sydney boutique not long ago was actually not too bad! And the B30 still looks okay for men! It’s not the ideal size but it’s still doable. Love your ex-libris twilly! I have the exact same colourway! 💙🧡

Mel, this is an amazing comparison video! The effort that went into this is just mindblowing. Really appreciate it. I have a B25 (etoupe epsom GHW) in sellier and it is a truly a sexy bag. I used to have a B30 (gold swift PHW) which I rehomed as it was just too large and heavy for me. I'm a touch taller than you and the B30 looks very nice for our height but I live in the city and people kept walking into my bag and it stressed me out to no end haha. At size 30, and for my lifestyle, I'm taking my Goyard Artois out with me, not a quota bag. Also, I think the deal breaker for the B25 is the handle. I'm by no means a small girl but I can fit the B25 almost at up to elbow (without sleeves, but I live in the tropics so that's 350 days of the year haha) so its a perfect bag for me. I'm looking forward to adding a B25 in the standard retourne next year, which I am confident I will enjoy. And if my fairy fails me, I will be knocking at Eclaire Atelier's door! They have everything! You deserve a million more subbies Mel - this was awesome!

Ahh, my B30 in swift actually held up quite well because I used a 7RP insert! #truestory I'm not a fan of the floppy style either haha. I hope to get a b25 retourne in black togo with palladium hardware. I wanted GHW initially but the PHW on my bleu encre K28 has really grown on me. and I find that PHW is a fresher look - so on this point, I'm totally with Charis on her preference for PHW lol! xoxo

I would say Togo or Epsom is probably the best for everyday as they are durable and pretty scratch resistant x

Hi Mel, great video! I will add my two cents. I am 5'7" (~170.2cm) and all three sizes work for me, but I always go smaller with lighter colors. Since dark colors recede, I feel I can go bigger. Having said this, I do not do "POP." No problem with "POP" of color, it is just not my personality. Thank you again for the very informative video, particularly the weights!!

It's my pleasure lovely. Yes as much as I love the B25 the handle drop is definitely a big con if you like to wear your bags on the crook of your arm. However it's really not that bad carry it as a top handle but yes if you want to hands free for a longer period, you may not like this size. The 30 in epsom or swift is pretty light weight however, another thing to consider xx

Yes the B35 definitely a lot bigger, it looks extra big because I have the sellier but in the retourne it does look smaller. Big bags will be back though hehe xx

During my trip to Hawaii, I went in and expressed my interest and I gave the SA the specs I was looking for. I got really excited when she told us to go straight to the 3rd floor because I saw a room there the night before. I was offered my first Kelly 25 in the color I was looking for! My pleasure my dear. It really depends if you are a more neutral lover or you prefer color. The options are endless! If you have too many black bags or darker color bags I would go color as Hermes does color so well. Pick a color that you love and that you can imagine going with your wardrobe. However if you prefer neutrals you can’t go wrong with the forever classic which is the gold or even some of their greys as well. I hope that helps xx

Love ur video ! It is so informative! Weight definitely is a consideration factor for me. from transport to office or to shopping centres. Definitely there are some walking distance. If the bag itself is already q heavy, it is no way to put in more things
Love your video. I went to real real and the 25 birkin prices are way way higher than $9k. Is it bought in Australia or in the US?
As the birkin/kelly bags are so highly sought after and difficult to get at the Hermes boutiques, you will find that on the preloved market or reseller market that the pricing is higher. For the B25 it can be up to 3 times normal retail price as that size is currently the most desired. You can however find B35's for around retail price at the moment but in general it is always more expensive especially if it is in excellent/new condition. I hope that helps Faye xx

Yes I remember that collection. Personally for me it was a little too busy so I didn’t purchase anything from that collection. In saying that I think it’s very innovative that they were the first luxury brand to collab with a popular esport. I mean LoL is such a popular game so I did hear the collection performed quite well so I wouldn’t be surprised if they did this again in the future. Did you like the collection? :)

Wow! So the Birkin 30 is the same price as a Medium Classic Flap as of November 😲 Plus the Medium Chanel in Black for example is hard to get now world wide in boutiques ( just like the Birkin's)
Yes I find that Chanel is adopting Hermes marketing strategy in a way as there is now is a limit on how many you can buy and often the ones that are in demand get offered to the VIPS first. For that price I prefer a Birkin or Kelly any day but of course still love my classic flaps too x

Loved this video! Of the two styles, I think I am more a Birkin than a Kelly person (I love totes!). Retourne, size 30. the weight comparison is very helpful too, as I don’t like a heavy bag. As for color, maybe an etoupe or the etain, but the malachite is gorgeous. Like most things, they have to grow on me. I would have never thought of styling the bag for a man, but can see them using one as a work bag.! My husband thinks I’m crazy to want one, but I can see value as a heirloom bag, my daughter would love it if I got one!

I appreciate and was surprised to see male mod shots because you don't see that much in videos only photos in Instagram so thank you so much! I myself own a B30 Retourne Togo in Noir with RGHW and was contemplating if 35 would suit me but I see that it isn't as versatile as the 30 for me in which I could use it day and night as a guy but the 35 would be a great bag for work although I could fit my 13 inch MacBook pro on my 30 just fine. I'll stick with 30 then since it does give me what I need both day and night.

What I never understood why the choose the closure like this it seems a lot of work to close the bag, and when it always opened with the flap in it seems a bit of a mess? And the weight? If it’s empty is already a kilo…. I personally don’t like the birkin also because the handles are short and you can wear your extremely expensive bag only in a very unsafe manner. What so special about this bag?

Looooove this comparison Mel! Especially the mod shots by both you and hubby! Looking at pics alone can be quite misleading because the B35 looks massively huge whereas the one I got offered from my local Sydney boutique not long ago was actually not too bad! And the B30 still looks okay for men! It’s not the ideal size but it’s still doable.
