Nicely explained. Will try doing it for my Cherry, Lemon and Persimon plants. Thanks.
Thanks. Glad it was hepful. Have fun growing and cloning your trees.
so informative, i like your approach, especially when you said that the wood is really hard
Very Nice Thank u
Helpful and informative!
Thank you my pleasure.
wet winters suck for wet feet with tropicals even in pue sand i need to make my greenhouse dryer
Great video! Thank you.
Nice video 👍👍
Thanks for the air layering video I have two questions first would root hormone have helped with the transplant and two would pruning the tree after transplant have helped as well?
No need for hormone when potting up the air layer. I should have removed most of the leaves to be on the safe side and reduce the planting shock. I got lucky and the tree looks amazing now. Pruning not really needed prior to planting the air layer, but probably be okay. Never have tried that. Update soon. Thanks for stopping by. :-)
Nice video
Thanks, enjoy sharing the knowledge. Peace friend. :-)
Great video, nicely explained, thank you
How long does the airlayered plant take to fruit or bloom ?
If 1: Avocado
2: Rose etc ?
Depends on the plant but average is 2 - 3 months. Also the time of year and temperature. They root out best spring and summer but in Florida it works almost year round. Thanks for viewing.
It will start fruiting in around 3 or so months ?
Pepe... I accepted to take over a longan, Mr. Logan, tree that traveled from Florida to S. California, zone 10. He suffered tremendously during the shipment and lost 90% of its leaves. I was told to soak it in B1; which I did for a little over 2 hrs. Will he make it? What should I do? Superthrive it? I plan to keep him in a container. Thank you
If the root system was healthy and abundant it should recover. The water soak was good. Not sure about Superthrive. I have not found it to be that amazing. All the best wishes. Happy growing. Thanks for visiting my channel.
Hi, do you have a video of how to trim the longan tree after harvest, thanks
Maybe in the future. Thanks for visiting my channel.
Very nice video. Have you successfully air layered a sapodilla tree?
Yes, long time ago. Will do some sapodilla air layers soon. Thanks for visiting.
Ahmed Lunat nice
Do you sale marcotted lychees & longgan sir.. I'm from Phils
Nice video! I was wondering can I remove the rooted plant from the tree and put it directly into the ground instead of putting it in a pot? And, can this newly planted rooted plant survive in the ground in very cold autumn and winter weather?
Some people do go direct to the ground. More chance of failure that way. Also cold ground will stop or slow root growth. Why not care for the plant in a container keep warm and safe till spring. Take care.
Thank you for your quick and helpful reply. The problem is that we have this garden far from where we live. Those air layered plants (apricot and walnut) are in that garden and there is no greenhouse there to keep them warm during autumn and winter. Those branches that I air layered are from two VERY old trees and they are around 4 inch and 2.5 inch in diameter and they are around 86 inch and 156 inch long. I don't have a greenhouse at home neither. Besides, these branch sizes don't fit in my car to drive them back home to take care of them during the cold seasons. That is why I have to keep them out there. Do you know any way to protect them from cold weather after I remove them and plant them directly into the ground?
Wow, big air layers. I have never air layered those types of trees. They will probably be fine because I assume you are in a temperate climate suitable to those trees. Make sure you have a very full well rooted air layer. Heavy mulch should help protect the roots. Good luck.
Thanks! Yes, indeed they are big air layers. I'll keep your advice in my mind. Just one more question, please. This heavy mulch you said, should be around the root in the ground or around the air layer on the ground. Sorry for asking! I'm a beginner in this interesting field.
Mulch on the surface 4 inches thick and don't pile up on the trunk of the air layer. What if you add more soil or other medium to the existing air layer and cover again and wait till spring?
I want to ask I have Longan tree and I want to ask I can make grafting from Longan to lychees thanks
Try it but I doubt it. They are not that closely related.
can we grow Longan in a container?
Yes, just like lychee.
Good day pepe', I am looking for LOGAN seeds pretty please. I do not mind paying for fresh seeds as well as for the shipping cost. Rietha
I don't have any longan trees so no fruit or seeds sorry. FYI: I don't sell seeds at all. Just some plants from my web site. Try a farmers market for fresh longans. Plant those seeds. Best wishes and thanks for visiting.
@@Pepesplants Thank you for replying, we dont have Logan fruit in South Africa. I will try and find from USA. The seeds has to be fresh though. Thank you
Weird reverb in the audio. Two microphones active?
tohopes the background noise was an issue. Believe me this is better than the original with background noise.
Do you have to add water from time to time when you have the ziploc bag ?
Not really.. The bag keeps it moist pretty well. Must have a tight fit and should be good for at least three months. Use foil to protect it also. Thanks for visiting my channel.

What about pearlite doesn't it have styrofoam beads in it?
Perlite is not Styrofoam. Perlite is an amorphous volcanic glass that has a relatively high water content, typically formed by the hydration of obsidian. It occurs naturally and has the unusual property of greatly expanding when heated sufficiently.
@@Pepesplants what do I know about raising PAWPAW TREES? I want you raise them for their cancer fighting properties
@@megalodon4228 I am growing a dwarf variety and it is Native along the South Coast of USA from Georgia to Central Florida. Will give it a try in my area. I am warmer than it may like but we shall see. Asimina pygmea.
