- Laurence Fox has been formally suspended by GB News and taken off air immediately following comments he made on GB News about a female journalist which have been described as 'unacceptable, unjustifiable and indefensible'.
Speaking on Tuesday night during an appearance on Dan Wootton’s show, Fox made a series of remarks about Ava Evans, the political correspondent for online news site Joe, including asking: 'Who would want to shag that?'
GB News said on Wednesday morning in a statement on X, formerly Twitter: 'GB News has formally suspended Laurence Fox while we continue our investigation into comments he made on the channel last night.'

News broadcasters are obligated to be impartial, respectful and informative but GB News has consistently proven it is none of those things. If GBeebies News wants to be an entertainment programme then sure, why not? However, as long as they are a news broadcaster they shouldn't be given special treatment and be held to the same standards as other broadcasters. Very simple.

Actually he doesn't, because this breaches the rules and codes of conduct of Ofcom. He has a right to express his opinion on his own platform, but not on a television channel that is governed by Ofcom. Free speech is not "I can say whatever I like, wherever I like with no consequences", that's not how it works.

She didn't "brush off" male suicide, she literally pointed out that men and women try to commit suicide at the same rate but that men's methods are more lethal and as such succeed more. Ava then pointed out that there should be a minister for mental health to address the crisis of mental health that is sweeping our country.

Even if you disagree with Ava, which she has stated publically she's fine with people doing, you should be furious at Fox for making a conversation about suicide and mental health into one about himself and how little he values women.

Why on earth is Dan Wooten suspended and having to apologize? He did nothing wrong, whatever comments by Laurence Fox that were unacceptable are for Laurence Fox to apologize for. These things happen in a free society and in interviews, no one should be cancelled. IF Laurence Fox is employed by a company that finds him, his views, behaviors unacceptable/inexcusable than it is within the company’s right to fire/terminate his employment. But to suspend Dan Wooten is equally inexcusable and unacceptable. You are either a FREE society with freedom of speech or you are not and prefer to live in Stalanistic regime.
