I could have written this song. Drove by the home I built and in which we raised our family. The pets. The games. The holidays. It’s a different color now. I built that home. I built it. My life was the best in that house. God I want to go back.

I watched behind the music on Miranda and she told she heard this song on a demo CD of Blake's. As soon as she heard the song she was overwhelmed w/ emotion and said the song fit her life perfectly. Blake told her she had to record the song and gave it to her. IMO it's the best song she's ever done...and I'm a HUGE ran fan! ;)
The first time I heard this song was the day my brother and I sold our childhood home. Our parents built it in 1958 and we moved in in early 1958. I was 5 and he was 4. Both our parents passed away and we had families and homes of our own and had no more use for the old house. Nothing lived there except our memories. The day we sold it, I was feeling lower than a snake's belly and then I heard this angel singing this song. It tore me up and still does. and yes, our favorite dog is buried there.
One Christmas, my wife printed out the lyrics to this song and put it in a collage of photos of our old house and us growing up there. Best gift I ever got.
Miranda is one of the best female country singers, song writers and artists. Her voice is so beautiful and pure. She's going to be one of the biggest singers and artists in country music. She's the real deal and her music is about real life and her stage performance is a strong reflection of who she really is. A beautiful country music artist.
NOBODY could have written or performed this song as good as Miranda, or EVER WILL. It means so many different things to so many people. I Miss the House That Built Me. Thanks Mom n Dad. I Miss You 👨👩👧 and that House 🏡SO Much 😢😭. R.I.P. 🙏 I LOVE YOU! 💖💝🌹
I just love her Music, especially this Song, Played it at my moms Funeral, it was the right song brought back a lot of Memories. Thank you Miranda, keep em coming....
Awwe Me Too. Lived across the street from the high school in my town. It was a little street, with 6 houses built on it. My mom had worked there for 25 yrs, it's where my sister's and I went. Mom n Dad bought and added on to a home they bought in 1951. We were raised in that house. dad passed in 1987. The dirty rotten high school bought out that street, knocked all the houses down, and put in a student parking lot that NOBODY uses. Mom tried so hard to keep it. They threatened her with Emminant domain. she had to get out and they didn't give her SHIT for that house. She never got over that, and frankly neither did I. Mom passed 9/20/20, at 98. I HATE that school, wish I Never went there. But I'll ALWAYS remember the House That Built Me 😢🏡💝.
My mom lost her house this year after almost 20years of living there and everyday I miss my old home and all the memories I had of it. Sometimes I dream that I am still there and I can picture myself walking up my stairs to my bedroom. Even though I am grown now and moved on with my life I can't help but still miss my childhood home. I can relate 1000% to this song and it always makes me emotional.
adrianna orozco I have an opportunity to get my child hood home back. Some company was renting it out but they never officially owned it. Dad wrote a letter to them but didn’t legally sign it over so he never lost possession of it. I want something to pass to my kids and prove my family I’m not a failure
I would give everything I have away to be a kid again. Life was simple back then, catching frogs, snakes and shooing gophers in the back yard is really all I cared about. Miss my old bird dogs Biscuit and Daisey. Great song, brings back a lot of memories. Enjoy your youth, it goes fast, and you can never go back.

When I was a little kid, a plumber came out to our house for a repair call said it was the house he grew up in. He got emotional and was amazed how much was the same. There was a skinny part of the hallway where my sister and I used to climb up the walls (like in The Emperor’s New Groove). Apparently he did that as a kid too, and apparently his mamma didn’t like it either, lol. He asked my dad to take a photo of him in the house as an adult, so he could send it to her. Sometimes I think about driving back there just to see it. This song beautifully captures how difficult adulthood can be. What a powerful performance!
Beautiful song ! I think most of us would like to return to those special memories we had as a child . Life was fun & easy then . But unfortunately we grow up and real life hits . Job . Rent/Mortgage . Kids . Payments . People get lost sometimes who they really are or were . Maybe that's what Miranda is feeling ?
I'm with Matt....I can go back to the little house I grew up in....pasture field across the creek where I spent many a day just me, my old dog King, and my guitar....Lots of love in that old house and lots of memories too..God Bless this little gal...Sometimes I think she just had to have written that one for me LOL:)
I’m already crying halfway through the first verse. Every time I pass through my old neighborhood I grew up in I look at my old house and yard and immediately think of this song. So many memories

Not a fan of country music, but this song gets to me down to my core. As I search myself for a way to repair my "broken-ness". Great song. This song might just start me listening to more country music
This is too much :,, she's the only one I love singing this song . I can barely write this my tears are so much :) this song is the best !!! I love her for singing it the words mean so much .
Thanks Miranda, this one gets me. I'm 41 years old and after hearing this song I had to go back to that little house I spent my childhood in. The people actually let me come in. I hadn't been there for 20 years everywhere I looked was a memory.
Miranda deserved female vocalist of the year and album of the year because she is brilliant and super talented. Seriously how many awards has Carrie won in her five years of being here. I think it's close to 65 awards! Come on it's time to share. As much as I love Carrie there are lots of other great country singers who deserve awards like Miranda! She deserved these awards. Go miranda!
Miranda Lambert this song brings me to tears because of your voice your voice is so smooth Miranda leaving home and coming back home to say goodbye to your family is sad Miranda Lambert never leave home
Listen to the way she phrases her words with the notes, especially toward the end. Perfection. She's my favorite female singer and I'm happy she's finally getting the recognition she deserves. I hope it lasts a long time.
i have never had a song, that made my heart, mind, body, and soul take a trip straight back to my grandmothers home. no matter where we are in this world, we always knew we could go there....for love, food, a shoulder to cry on, or some of grammas great advise. wow, i really do miss her! thank you miranda, for doing this song! you hit this outta the ball park, as far as i'm concerned!
this is my favorite song and i luv miranda lambert she is so pretty the video is kinda sad but i still luv this song my favorite part is when she says, and my favorite dog is buried in the yard.thumbs up if u agree that this song is ur fav?!?!?!(:
This song speaks so much about my daughter and me. I lost my husband in 2010...as a result we left the home we are built. I found the strength to return in 2012 Thanks Giving. What such a perfect time to "touch" and "feel" the house we all shared and loved in so hard! Love in Christ~Brian M. Smith~
Hello, my name is Brenton, and i am a rising star, and i have sang with lady gaga, justing beiber, and so on, and i have also sang with miranda and so forth, and i love this song because my parents died when i was little and i went to the house that i was raised in and i did the same thing the music vid. does and when i went back to the tour bis i fell in front of it and started crying. this song touches me so much.
Ok, so i m not much of a fan of country music, but I see to love about every song I have heard this woman sing. Wow, such talent and a total hottie too. Love gun powder and lead as well.
I remembered listening to this song when I was 18, crying, and moving with my family from 1) a town home that was giving me healing and creativity for a while, 2) hometown that I grew up in and knew almost everything there back then, and 3) my home state: Texas where all my family and friends were living and still living. We do come back to visit every year and it leaves me wanting to stay there longer because of its familiar vibes me that's still there even when there had been some new additions and changes. Everything else stayed the same.
I'm a R&B man all the way , THIS ONE OF MANY SONGS I've been turned on to by a co-worker , man what a song i think of my mother and how she loved me in that old house.
Everytime I listen to this I cry because ive moved a lot but I've lived in the house I'm in now for 7 years and we're about to move and it just makes me do sad.

Hello Nathan,
how're you doing,
Your comment caught my attention and that is why I am reaching out to you.
Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!❤️
Lookin' for that REAL country twang? This is it! Free from mixers & producers; her real country voice comes out. Live & in person. A true southern accent; live & untouched.
this song showcase her talent and voice and she made me like country music even more. no big fuss arrangements. just pure magic.
Made me remember my parents house and my horse barried in the field, I cried too.
I bet this song is truly written from her heart :')
She didnt write this song. This is an older song she did recorded and absolutely knocked it out
Not a fan of country music, but this song gets to me down to my core.
I hadn't been there for 20 years everywhere I looked was a memory.
one of the finest songs I've heard, very well done all the way around.
good music brought me here.
this song makes me cry. gorgeous song!!
Absolutely awesome. She has the true voice for these songs. Alot of feeling. Go Miranda!!
Amazing talent beautiful lady Amazing song
Miranda deserved female vocalist of the year and album of the year because she is brilliant and super talented. Seriously how many awards has Carrie won in her five years of being here. I think it's close to 65 awards! Come on it's time to share. As much as I love Carrie there are lots of other great country singers who deserve awards like Miranda! She deserved these awards. Go miranda!
I truly love her free spirit. She reminds me of old friends... from back then. Cute little hippie.
Miranda Lambert this song brings me to tears because of your voice your voice is so smooth Miranda leaving home and coming back home to say goodbye to your family is sad Miranda Lambert never leave home
Awesome. :) her and Carrie are country's finest of today.
I love her because we share the same name and the same love for music.
--Miranda Muraoka
this is the most beautiful song I have heard!
Listen to the way she phrases her words with the notes, especially toward the end. Perfection. She's my favorite female singer and I'm happy she's finally getting the recognition she deserves. I hope it lasts a long time.
Demi brings me here every week! lol
She said it's one of her favorite songs of all times.
i have never had a song, that made my heart, mind, body, and soul take a trip straight back to my grandmothers home. no matter where we are in this world, we always knew we could go there....for love, food, a shoulder to cry on, or some of grammas great advise. wow, i really do miss her! thank you miranda, for doing this song! you hit this outta the ball park, as far as i'm concerned!

You can tell she’s actually feeling the lyrics she’s singing. You don’t find that much anymore
I can't listen to this beautiful song without cryin', but it's a good cleansin' kind of cry :)
congrats Miranda! You deserved to finally get recognized!!!! LOVE YA GAL!!!!
In spite of all the accolades and awards, she is still highly underrated. She is extraordinary.
Congratulations Miranda! Revolution was just certified PLATINUM:)!!!
Smith~
It doesn't get any better than this.
I like to play this song during class. I love it SOOOOO much
The house that builit me...amazing song and great lyrics...I'm here it's like I'm someone else - totally identify with that
I remembered listening to this song when I was 18, crying, and moving with my family from 1) a town home that was giving me healing and creativity for a while, 2) hometown that I grew up in and knew almost everything there back then, and 3) my home state: Texas where all my family and friends were living and still living.
Everytime I listen to this I cry because ive moved a lot but I've lived in the house I'm in now for 7 years and we're about to move and it just makes me do sad.
what a MOST BEAUTIFUL Song by a Most Beautiful and Talented Lady, WAY TO GO Miranda ^5
