I can't imagine playing any competitive game and not simply googling what your character does, should be doing, or what things they can do. They don't know how certain abilities work or that certain abilities exist. As if you can't just go to the practice range and try them out. It's funny Flats brings up competitive Pokemon. Even in a turn based game, where you can do a quick google (stats, learnable moves, and what abilities do) a large amount of people who want to improve, don't look this up. I don't mind players that don't have insane aim. I don't mind that players aren't Overwatch aim or POTG gods. But I feel like so many players I see stuck in Plat and below could easily, easily make it to Diamond, even with terrible aim, with some very simple tips: 1) If you don't understand or know something, Google it. Do it while queueing for matches. 2) Try every single character in the practice range. Or try them out in some arcade game modes, even for roles you don't like, even for characters you don't like. I've seen people who have played this game from launch that still get surprised by character abilities that have existed since launch. Like it or not, this game is about using resources, and baiting resources. While in higher ranks, the resource management is more complex, in every rank, you should be making sure not to get Hooked or Flashbanged all game at the very least. (Or making sure you land as many Hooks or Flashbangs as possible.) 3) Be more aware. Look at all the places enemies could potentially come from. Don't play music, keep game volume ON, and try to use a headset if you can (make sure it's not backwards). Audio is your friend. Everything makes a noise, and enemies are even louder. That's the beauty of this game. Also, pay attention to which direction on the damage compass you are being shot at from. Overall, your gameplay should not look like someone badly recording a street fight on a cellphone. (No one can see anything of value ever in those, right?) 4) Group Up. I can't play COMP with some of my friends in the metal ranks, but even in Diamond and above, (it's less often but it exists!) people don't group. I know waiting sucks, I know you want to get your salty runback, right now, but stop and group somewhere safe. Spamming group up to your team, while walking one at a time into a Junkrat meat grinder doesn't count either. I mean it, people willing to walk in one at a time into spam is free SR regardless of rank, for the enemies. It's why Reaper, Bastion, Hog, and Junk seem so oppressive to people. You don't want to 1 v 1 these dudes in a small room or in a hallway alone. (Especially since Junk doesn't always need LOS, like on Hanamura B stairs.) There is so much more depth to the game, but I feel like you need to get these shooter game or competitive game fundamentals down first. Even if you quit Overwatch, and become a Smash player, this tips still apply. (Except the last one.)
I think maybe a easy to grasp fundamental gametip for Dva players in this rank is probably that, in light of the solid truth that 99% of the time, you can't rely on your healers very much (if at all), save Dvas boost for disengaging and getting to health packs quickly. The only time you really want to use it forward into the enemy lines is when they are down (probably at least 2 if you are in this rank since your team probably won't follow up with you on one elimination) and then you could front line a bit and boost towards a low hp squishy target to try and get another pick. Otherwise, use it to disengage when you take too much damage and are getting very low on health. Another good easy tip would be to use natural cover to peak out form (corners, map objects) when you have exhausted your defense matrix. Try to use your defense matrix for big obvious things like Moira damage orbs, Reinhart firestrikes, and big ultimates you can block most of. Other than that, just pepper your damage in there, it's infinite, and try to save you missiles for close range targets.

Damn i thought my Dva play was bad but this guy so far back his gonna end up in another map half the time.
I like how this vod made flats speechless
I seriously had to do a double take and re-read the video title. Might be one of your best yet!
That console turn makes me physically ill..
As someone who recently fixed their controller sensitivity and has climbed out of bronze on console, this is why I feel instant regret when I get into a game and one of the tanks insta locks dva. They're like 40% sitting back at this range thinking "oh I hear a hit sound, I am doing good damage" or 40% they int so far into the enemy team on respawn.
That thumbnail is pure quality.
can't watch more than one round of this and even then it was painful.
This thumbnail brought me very much joy thank u
If this was a try to not laugh video. I would have failed miserably
For me it was a try not to yell challenge
mans reviewed an emongg vod and thought we wouldn't notice
I’m a dva main on console and honestly that was the most painful thing to watch…
Literally. I’m a mid plat Dva main tho
as a console diamond dva one trick from the old days who always thought she sucked this video was incredibly enlightening i literally did not even know it was possible to play dva this passively
Ow2 ranked is looking great, the devs played really well. Can't wait to go straight to PVE. Kappa
Join and this is your 1 tank.
This looks like a total mayhem game just without the abilities
I had a sniper Mercy on my team the other day.
At least Mercy has no falloff and is positioned much better in the back of the team.
As a dva player, that was the hardest video to watch in this series lol
Is "Sniper DVa" like my DVassassin, but without the kills? Seriously, I woulda just turned guns blazing on that Sombra. Do not go quietly into the night. EDIT: Apparently Sniper DVa also has no aggression. Seriously, play up on the team. You have corners and a payload for a reason.
Dive zen
I know this is a year old but I am pretty positive I played with this dude. Either that or I played with his PC twin. By the end of the game my team was going nuts. I was playing Ana and I kid you not this dude stood with me in the back line the entire time just popping away with his nerf darts. I asked if he was reviewed by Flats and he instantly left the game.
Aim: Okay
Bombs: Not bad
Gamesense: Not great
Positioning: Awful, my eyes hurt
4:20
I love when he let hes healares in the front line
If they kept walking back any further, they would’ve reached oasis by the end of the game
stuff like this makes me question why i'm still in bronze
This dva played like they were in a panic the whole time
People making fun of controller aim, meanwhile they’re still in gold/plat with the full range of motion and precision provided by mouse and keyboard
This guy social distances more in game than anybody I’ve ever seen IRL!!!
I'd say their playstyle is more of a watch style
It’s like they can’t look up/down and left/right at the same time 😂
I think this person needs to pick up soldier, that might be more to their play style….
Did you see the tracking on this guy? Soldier is not the hero for them. Maybe try healbot Moira/Mercy?
@@darn721 yeah good point, although tracking is a skill they'll develope over time, almost everyone starts out with bad aim but if they like playing far back from the team I think soldier might be more suited to them
