  • Today I am making a sheep pen following a conversation I had with the vet. I was told it doesn't need to be anything fancy and it was left to my discretion just so long as it would hold sheep and if there was a sick animal it could be separated from the flock. I got pallets from a friend and spent £18 on wooden posts. An hour later I had a temporary sheep pen.
    My RUclips story
I want to build an off-grid homestead in Northern Ireland where I will grow and feed my family a natural chemical free and full of nutrient-packed foods on a daily basis. I want to create a healthy lifestyle where my three kids can look back on fondly and to a place they will eventually call home.
    My history.
I have a level 3 cert in horticulture and I have spent a lot of my working career both around and driving different types of construction machinery. I have also learnt a thing of two working with lots of highly skilled trades men. This accompanied with my own skill set, creativity, resourcefulness and efficient approach I am going to turn this 4.25 acres of unused land into the most fertile landscape in the area using only organic fertilisers and animals to grow my own food for both meat and veg, using regenerative and holistic farming methods.

I built a similar pen for my goats. I ran 2x6 across the top instead of putting in posts and I just screwed the pallets together at the seams and corners. The corners act like their own posts and the 2x6 keeps the middle from rocking around. Cleans up the look of the pallets too.

That should work sound and satisfy them to give you a flock number.
