I'd encourage you to rethink this theology. The church started because of men being the head of it on earth (the Apostles). The key is "on earth." Your response is a typical legalistic argument to not have to submit to any authority. But Christ is clear that he's the head of the church in the ultimate sense, but he still uses his earthly leaders to guide it and build it. It was the point in Christ telling Peter that He would start to build his church on Peter's leadership (Matt 16:18). Paul was the head of the churches he planted, so were the other apostles that planted.

I think pastors and church leaders "crack under pressure" because it is a "one man system" led from the front, while the passive congregation listen. The New Testament cites an "all-body ministry" made up of pastors, prophets, teachers, evamgelists, etc. They are not meant to be carried out by ONE PERSON, which is why they get burnt out. A pastor is not a teacher and vice versa. They are two separate roles. Pastors are pastoral and care for the flock such as visiting and counselling etc, but a teacher is responsible for the promulgation of Bible reading and sound doctrine. If the two roles overlap (as in many denominational churches) then the concentration on one role will be diluted and compromised. The answer to all these 'failures' is in the Bible!

I choose to look up love of God scriptures. Fear usually comes from Satan. Yes dont let men rule how you think or act. Thats what the media does to get the attention they crave. God definately is interested in our souls because He created them so we could love worship and have a relationship with Him through His only begotten son Yeshua. The veil in the temple was torn at the crucifixion to open that doorway to God so the only high priest we need is Yeshua. The media would like to find fault in every Christian church out there. The pastors are all sinners just like Carl and all of us but guess what those are the ones Yeshua loved on the most when He was here. He looks at the heart. Anyone that puts any pastor on a special pedestal needs to quit. That is a form of idol worship that most don't deserve or want. They are just doing what THEY feel God called them to do whether He did or didn't. I think most try to do their best but it is the Holy Spirit that touches people and brings them to God not any person.

oh my...umm. had a not so nice discussion with my neighbor last night. i said the bible said our hearts afre sicked. she said the bible doesn't say that anywhere and i must not be a christian because Im lying about the bible, even tho its more like she lies about it and then flips things around saying i did what she actually does...but anyway, i dont know you, you dont know me and this comment was put out the day before our convo, so to me, its just personal proof from God that I am doing the right thing, I am not the evil, mean, belittling tings she calls me (as a holy spirit filled Christian) - basically she is completely lying about her walk, which isnt helping her, but because no one can know more than her, no one can do anything better, no one can tell her anything - if she says it, its factual, if you tell her something she will come back a few days later and then pretend like thats how she feels and will call me names, tell me i dont know scripture, that i dont follow the word, that i am evil for trying to change the word (these are all things that i have shown her scripture on -except i dont degrade, belittle, name call, put down or insult - i try showing her the truth never my opinion - but according to her, i am too young (i am 45) to know what im talking about, she celebrates worldly pagan holidays, she changes the word if she doesn't think God thinks that way, she trusts that trump is going to save the world, supports Q hardcore but then says she has no idea what Q even is...its all a huge game with me to confuse, distort, mislead, misguide, deceive, lie to and mock my relationship with Jesus - and she pretends she's the bible believing, narrow path walking Christian (while she has tarot cards and spell books in her house) but anything you say she has an excuse for, she ignores and changes the subject or just goes MIA or she comes back with i know all this stuff, things shes learned from me and twists it like its all coming from her and IDK what Im talking about. Ive just been led recently to stay away from her basically. plus, things are real good for me, shes missing her hair, her teeth have all fallen out - not kidding - her health is falling quickly, her finances are a mess & shes miserable. Maybe if you start obeying God and defending him like you do trump and start fellow shipping instead of comparing & coveting your neighbors mind, God would bless her too. quick lesson, God doesn't reward the wicked. And the heart IS WICKED. thats why we need Jesus Christ!!

In any institution, which includes churches as well as schools etc. any allegations of child sexual abuse must be reported to police. Even if the "victim" does not want it reported. The reason for that is that others may have been abused also, so the investigation has to assume that. And it is often the case that others are involved. This was not only an allegation, but his father admitted to the offending. Houston has admitted publicly that he did not report his father, but did have him removed from his position. Regardless of all that, it was also a huge conflict of interest that Houston made the decisions about his father, when his father was the alleged person, and proven perpetrator. Totally unacceptable. Brian Houston should have stayed right out of it. All he wanted was to protect the name of the church. And he failed, even if years later it all comes out. If police did not think they had a case, they would not have charged him. There is more to it that the media either choose not to report, or have to be careful with at this stage.

Where was the Lord when Houston's father was molesting kids back in the 70's? Kids lives ruined forever, if they didn't take their own lives at a young age due to abuse. Have a good hard think about that. Pastor Brian will need more than the Lord to get himself out of the current crisis he got himself into, due to his inaction on his father back in the day. Even the best lawyers cannot get him out of what he only has himself to blame for. Covering up his fathers crimes when in the Pentacostal Church, to protect the name of the church. And he has done the same later after setting up Hillsong. Protect the name of the "church", (business), over all else. What a loser.

I think what she was hinting at was that the oversight and accountability necessary maybe wasn’t there for a body that large and that maybe that’s never easily achievable. I mean corporations have issues like this all the time too. The bigger you get, the harder it is to keep accountability. You need bureaucracy and systems in place to even be able to catch rot and corruption. It’s difficult. I think it’s a fair question, if posed as, can you keep accountability with a church this large, and if not, should steps be taken to ensure that you can, by downsizing or whatnot.
Maybe it’s a criticism of the size of a church, but I’m not sure it has to be seen that way. I actually really liked this interview. Fair, but we’ll intentioned, asking a few hard questions. I think he would feel very uncomfortable knowing that Jesus was all about community and the message of god. He lived a very minimalistic life and i'm not saying money is bad or evil but I am saying it is the root of many corrupt behaviours. I am a former Hillsong attender who's life was completely changed when discovering the church in 2008 and not for the better. Jesus is about people, people connected and loved and cherished and respected. My experience with Hillsong was far removed form these things and I felt used, overworked and under appreciated after volunteering in their annual conference in 08. The pastor of my church when I was a kid had to step down because of adultery nearly 20 years ago. This is not the first time it’s happened so I’m surprised it’s gotten so much attention. I don’t think what he did was right, but people make mistakes... even Christians.

If there's no difference & they're living in adultery, they're not Christian.

I remember the first days walking with Jesus with Hillsong! I will never forget Hillsong, and I pray for Hillsong to always being the light, the city on the top hill that cannot be hidden. C'mon hillsong arise and shine, keep reaching the youth.
