That was a fantastic tribute to a most talented and entertaining Man. The world lost a man who could sing the Scottish ballads with feeling.

We will never know another soul the likes of Alex Beaton. It's now 2023 and I still havent accepted our world without him. Dearest Linda, my heart with love reaches out to you, as he loved you so much. No other bard could sing his songs; no poet share his beautiful lines. No man or woman on earth will ever live up to the measure of this great Scotsman from Glasgow who proudly became a son of America! We loved him wholly, and trusting our Lord, will see him again, fully restored! Thank you, Alex! Love you Always! ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧🇺🇲

Thank you. Our family knows Alex only through the Linville Highland Games, where his magnificent voice was truly the heart of the games.

Grew up listening to Alex's music and hearing him perform at the Highland games in the United States. My father was a huge fan as well, owned and frequently played every album. The best years we had running the Clan association tent were the one close enough to the stage to hear him sing.
I've introduced my daughter to his music and she's enjoyed it just as much as I have.
Beyond his music I've always thought he was very kind and often very funny in the occasional interactions we had.
So sorry for the loss of your friend.

Thank you for this Tribute to Alex Beaton. I saw him at the Grandfather Mountain, NC Highland Games, it would have been in 1992 when I first came from Scotland to the United States of America. He was an incredible Scottish entertainer. In fact whenever I went to any Highland Games after 1992, I hoped I would see and hear Alex. He brought me and my mother and sister great joy. I will miss Alex but his music will live on!

I miss him so much! The Scottish games in Orange county California are not the same without him. So glad they dedicated a stage in his honor.

I saw him at the Scottish Festival twice in Batesville Arkansas about 30 years ago. Bought several albums and the VHS Scotland tour and enjoyed them tremendously, alas they were lost in a move, thank goodness for internet. So sorry for his loss, thoughts and prayers for the family and loved ones. A great talent who introduced me to some wonderful music. I had gone to the festival with a friend who had Scottish ancestry, then returned by myself the next year, later learned I have Scottish ancestry too.

Alex was such a kind and warm soul with a beautiful voice! I had the honor of meeting him years ago at the Scotland County Highland Games in North Carolina, and he gave me one of his CD's when I told him how much I enjoyed his music! I was at his memorial service at Grandfather Mountain this past July and it was a very nice tribute!

I learned recently Alex passed away.33 year old Tennessee American and I knew his voice close to heart as a teen and inspired me to want to play&sing in his style after hearing his takes on Flower of Scotland and The 40 Twa.Unfortunately,an injury stopped that from happening.I hope his glorious soul found his way home in the end though.May his enchanting voice forever ring through the hills of his homeland.🕊⛰🏰

That was really a most beautiful tribute to your great friend, George. Alex was one of a kind in the very best way! Not sure that I've know anybody better loved by scores of people... He is finally healed, and reunited with his beloved guitar and singing up a storm in the heavenly realms. It was a true blessing to know him!

I’m sorry to have gone so many years without ever having heard of nor anything performed by Alex Beaton until 2022-23, when I ‘discovered’ his music on RUclips. He’s the Best Scottish balladeer for English-speaking, American audiences/listeners I’ve come across to date. If there are any who’re as good, I haven’t heard them yet.
The High Kings & the Celtic Thunder ensembles come to mind, certainly, but they are groups of relative youngsters & have received plenty of publicity (relatively). So have others not mentioned, but Alex Benton’s versions of traditional Celtic music have educated me, considerably.
I read an account of how only Alex’s own “high endeavors” landed him the stages, the promotions, the bookings that he eventually received in his lifetime, including those he appeared-at in Georgia (concept), my own “home” state. That makes him even more remarkable as a musician and a business-savvy veteran.
Though the chance to meet him personally is lost, I wish his family well. And Scotia, too, because of the goodwill engendered by his recorded music. Blessings & comfort to the bereaved. 🌷🍀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚔️

His music had a way of making all people feel as if they were all Scottish. He will be missed.

That last picture is on my mountain and I wish I hadn't taken for granted how often he turned away from the audience to smile at us in his tent. Whenever I see him in my mind, it is on that stage under those trees - often missing his intro to talk to someone. You did an excellent job, George. Thanks for putting this together for us all. I'm a lucky girl to have him and you both in my life.

My wife and I went on Alex's 2010 Scotland tour with my parents, brother and sister-in-law. It was a wonderful experience that I'll never forget. I could be wrong but I think you were on that trip George. I'm looking through the photos now and think you are in a couple of them, lol. This is a touching video.

Stewart, I was on Alex's 2009 Ireland tour and the 2011 Highlands and Islands tour but not the 2010 tour. Looking back, I wish I were. Thanks for the kind words on the video.
