I was recently in Arizona near a town called Bumblebee. I come across some beautiful argonite crystals in a roadside cut. It's truly is amazing what you find along these roadside cuts. Not only that but there was a roadside cut and Arkansas that I found some beautiful fossils as well. You never know what you might come across.
Yes! Heard from some friends about road-cuts and had to check some out. Luckily there’s some fresh ones near
I have found that and also geodes in Fenton MO, on Gravois Bluffs Blvd. Behind the Sprint store and Mattress Firm. They fall off the cut behind the stores and gather behind the concrete barriers.
Nice!
It really blows my mind how rude so many people can be. All the comments saying what’s the point and to do with calcite… clearly they don’t have the rockhounder’s mentality lol… when you have a love & fascination of gems & crystals you just don’t get it! To answer these questions from my personal point of view, it is very fun and exciting to hunt for these specimens! When you find great specimens it’s very rewarding. Many people pay good money for these types of crystals to use in gardens or just home decor. Or to keep for yourself as I usually do!
You’ll have the rude ones anywhere you go these days. Thanks for the kind words though!
River rocks are alot of fun, IMHO. Im no expert but I swear I've found Indian tools & ornaments.
One was in the shape of an eagles head with a perfect thru-hole where the eye is. My assumption was that it was the top holder for the bow-fire starter and finally wore through... I dunno but it looked mamade, for sure
That’s awesome! I recently got permission on some land that has been known to have Indian artifacts along a creek. I’ll probably try to go there this weekend
Great video, Chris!
I had to laugh a little, because at the end, your bucket has a Goonies reference on it, and I wore that on my shirt when I visited that area. 🤣
I meant to compliment that shirt actually and forgot! Still love that classic flick. Plus, we’re out looking for treasures. So I guess we’re Goonies! 😂
Hay buddy great video. Keep them coming love to see new places to gather minerals.
It was fun getting some of these. First time calcite hunting
When I was a kid, whenever we would travel (not on interstates) Mom would insist on stopping at rock falls to pick up rocks. Some times we got big ones for the garden.
Big ones are always nice to display in the yard or garden
Very cool! I probably would have gotten stuck there all day digging around. Thanks for sharing.
I know how that goes! I actually intended on making a few stops on this trip. Spent more time here than planned. Luckily I don’t live far.
The caves are pretty cool glad you didn't go in definitely need back up, you got some pretty nice pieces but thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks! Yea I always like an extra person with me if I go in a cave. Safety first!
Looks like a huge limestone wall but oh no it is full of beautiful calcite. That is so awesome ! Some really nice specimens you have collected there 😉
Thanks! I have another video like this one in the same area to upload. Found some even better ones
I love ❤️ rock Hounding in road cuts
This one was my first one and now want to go to more.
Nice finds there - thanks for sharing! In the UK I have found Calcite even in soft-rock areas as they use broken limestone for road-building, and there was lots of calcite in it. :o)
Nice! Thanks!
Cool video Wright Rocks, I like the fact that you mined your own. And those pieces were really neat, what is the host rock comprised of? Thank you for taking us along.
Thank you! The host rock is slate and also chert
Nice specimens! Those vugs and caves would be fun to explore
Thanks! I’ll make it out there again sometime
After 6 hours in the lab looking at thin sections, this is what RUclips thinks I wanna see before sleep lol😂. Let’s rock, geologists!
Lol 😂
Hello I'm down here in SW Missouri but dug Crystal's in Arkansas for years when I lived in Illinois about 17 hour trip!! Now I'm close to where I used to dig in Mountain Home!! But I think they closed the mine it was Wagner I think , not sure it was years ago.
I’ve heard of a wegner mine around that area. It’s still open to the public. Some friends recently went and dug there.
Second! Woot!! Woot!!!
You need to get a blacklight and see if any of those glow 👍
Yea I was thinking the same. They glow nicely with a regular flash light. Unfortunately I had already uploaded the video or else I would have added that in.
it's everywhere welcome to Missouri
So many minerals in the state of Missouri to find
These areas I've learned r bridged highways or 'terrain', lakes near mountains ideal...
Hello,so what can you do with all that calcite? Please let me know. Thanks. John.
For me, it was fun to collect and look at. But according to google search…The properties of calcite make it one of the most widely used minerals. It is used as a construction material, abrasive, agricultural soil treatment, construction aggregate, pigment, pharmaceutical and more. It has more uses than almost any other mineral.
we find that in the railroad rocks on the tracks
The railroad track rocks is where my fav place was to go as a kid to find rocks. Walking the tracks is frowned upon nowadays unfortunately
Awesome
Thanks Donna!
Is this close to Branson looks familiar I don’t live far from there Interesting video
Nice to see someone not too far away. This is around Pineville area.
Hey, dude, there are LOTS of caves in Missouri, if you didn't already know. They can be several miles long, and end or start on private property. Be careful and stay safe! Some start or end on state land in protected areas. Just be careful, you don't need to end up in jail for a random charge for something you didn't even know was going to get you into trouble. Bats living in road-side cracks can also get you into trouble, and I don't want that for you. Check the laws for the area you find these amazing crystals, please? They aren't worth you going to jail for, really!
Yea I like searching for caves in Missouri also. There’s some in Arkansas, but not as many. I have permission to explore one that I have yet to do. The Missouri caves near me on public land are all locked up. But still need to find and see the outside. But yes, I’ll be sure to be extra careful.
Is that near Pineville Missouri?
Yes that’s the area. I’ll have another video out soon from today around another area near where this one was. Same material to work with. Came home with more
Found a pile of these near Osceola.
Nice!
what do u do with the calcite crystal?
Collect and sell to anyone that wants some. They are useful in other technologies too
thank u for reply. it looks like a satisfying way to spend some free time.. thanks u.
Just curious, what's so interesting about these calcites?
As far as collectors go I think most crystalline formations are really aesthetically pleasing, some believe they possess metaphysical properties. Of course, some stones and metals such as gold are also valued based on their natural infrequency

Go there some dark moonless night. Bring a couple UV light flashlights.
I bet that would be awesome to see. May have to try that sometime!
New Highway Bypass Bella Vista. There's a bluff down by Jane where MU collected Native American artifacts.
I wouldn’t mind checking out that bluff sometime if I can find it. Artifacts are on my to-find list. Never have found any before.
Me too. I know exactly where it is. Unfortunately State sign says Authorized access only. I'm sure there are many other places around there and on Grand Lake to find some treasures
If i had to guess, Stone or Taney county.

Is that flint also in the wall?
Chert and the darker grey is slate
Personally, I've never heard of calcite. What do you do with it?

@@wrightrocks6303 Thanks for the information. I'm in Ozark, and maybe I can find some too.
3:49 & 7:59 very beautiful finds 😍
Thank you!
@@wrightrocks6303 You're welcome :)
I was always interested in geology, buti couldn't see how rocks would pay my bills, so I went into aviation..
For me, it’s just a fun hobby to get me out and it helps relieve stress. I just unplug from the world. I’m more of a collector of them, but I do sell some to people who want them. I do auto body collision work full time.
What use does this stuff have ?

@@wrightrocks6303 ahhh. Very good.
I was thinking perhaps you made stuff from it..such as pendants or artwork.
I have several >25 pound pieces from white, green, red and grey
Nice! I bet those are a neat sight
Im trying to figure out what is the point?
For me it’s a stress reliever to just unplug from the rest of the world. It’s also fun and minerals hold money value.
Id have called this a good find...if I didnt have already found an excess of these...
I'd have called this a good comment, if it wasn't full of errors.
@@MellowMaromi Using apostrophes doesnt make you less loathsome.
@@cactusmann5542 I was merely responding to your rudeness with equal rudeness.
Don't dish what you can't take.
@@MellowMaromi You are not rude. Youre just pathetic. On multiple counts.
Careful, it's illegal to collect rock and minerals from fed, state and private land in Missouri.
There’s other vids posted in this area and further out. I know a handful of locals that do it regularly. None of us have had any issues. It’s only frowned upon really if you’re moving some major big rocks. I see people parked along many roads looking through them also
Looks like a public roadcut. Might be legal
while this is an interesting video, i would be careful about posting it. in most every state it is illegal to actively dig into road cuts.
I should be alright. There’s tons of road cut rockhounding videos here on RUclips. I know others in this general area that search road cuts a bunch with no issues. I have another one still to upload
