She lives and works in Mangalore and knows a lottt about the true authentic local ingredients. A young chef who thinks out of the box makes everyone nervous. Her Ghee Roast workshops have people lining up. And yes I am telling this because I truly admire and follow her work, passion and effort that she puts into everything. No one owns a recipe!!

udupi cuisine and Mangalore cuisine given birth for legendary dish like Dosa ,idly ,Masala dosa ,neer dosa ,Buns ,Gashi or Ghas,Kadubu,Goil Baje,pathrode,kori rotti ,Chicken Sukka,Kappa Rotti, then all fish tawa fry ❤️❤️
In your next stop which I guess is Udupi, please also visit Manipal. I am quite positive Mitra Samaj will be on the list, but there is an awesome street food vendor who serves fried snacks including goli baje in the evenings. I used to visit 10 years back and I hope it is still there. It serves the best goli baje and is very crowded in the evenings. If you can squeeze it into your schedule would love to see you relish it. It is near the main bus stand in Manipal
I would like to believe that Mangalorean food has been on the map in for many decades now and is not at any young chefs mercy for attention nor recognition . Kudos to the channel and the chef but maybe a little less attitude and a pinch of more warmth would have definitely helped along with great food on display.There was a major mismatch with the vibe with which rocky and mayur have been bringing to fore and can truly be called as buccaneers of food travel. I could be totally wrong and would stand corrected but im calling it like i saw it. Btw rocky mayur , thank you for what you do especially this series where you are giving the little know gems light so that they can get all the support that they can get in these tough times ! More power to you guys!
I agree it has been on the road map. But was known only for a few dishes. Her work covers beyond Ghee Roasts, Neer Dosas, Kori Gassis and Rottis. She has done series on local restaurants, explored smaller towns, indigenous produce etc. Today if someone wants a credible comment or quote from a well known Chef from Mangalore, it's her. And that's why where credit is due, it should be given. That's again just my opinion. To throw some light on the other side of the coin.

But sadly i don’t agree to the fact that ‘ Mangalorean foods ‘ credibility is dependent on a single persons social media activity around food especially when it is built around an existing buisness model ( which is absolutely fine btw but then lets call it business promotional activity ) . We are talking about Mangalorean cuisine and food which has prospered and grown before the Google era . Also there are no experts , no good or bad when its comes to food / chefs, everyone has a different palate and food memory which they align to. Just because one person takes it up cooking as a profession does not maketh the person an expert on any cusine . I would use the word ‘ credible ‘ a little more carefully because there are millions of Mangalorean food lovers who would still keep enjoying thier food without knowing about the wisdom spread by the paid social media influencers.

Shetty Lunch Home may have made the Template, but that doesn’t mean others can’t make Ghee Roast. You can’t trademark cuisine, In that case nobody other than Babu Singh should make ‘Dharwad Peda’ and places like Ideals or any other outlet in Mangalore should never make a Tiramisu then, there are many versions of the food we love and enjoy, so let’s celebrate the diversity of our dishes, different exponents lending their flavour and their take on an iconic dish enriches the cuisine and does not diminish it and let’s celebrate the fact that a talented young chef is getting featured and showcasing our region’s fare on a popular show.
Anybody can make anything of their own version...but Authentic Recipe always remains with the Original creators... This might be her own version and might taste even good but using the word authentic is wrong ..
It would have been great if the authentic recipe by Anupam Restaurant by Shettys was shared. What is authentic cannot be replaced with other versions. 🙏🏼
Rocky and Mayur travel multiple places and I’m sure are more than encouraged to try out different places across our city mangalore. This time they made a choice of choosing a young yet experienced chef Shriya .. the world requires peace and kindness - kindly encourage. Or just don’t comment to avoid trolls
It is neither spicy nor sweet, it's got a unique flavour highly dominant of ghee a very little sour flavour of masala roasting My favorite dish from Mangalore, even better with crab 🦀
Having eaten the ‘original’ chicken ghee roast, I request @historychannel to take down this video. It dilutes the rich history behind the dish and the efforts of the Shetty family. Please be considerate.
