I'm 60 now, so unless your older than me, you wouldn't remember a world without it. I remember in the 60's when plastic was just starting to become a slow but steady change, an evolution if you will, but now it's not so evolutionary if it's going to prove to destroy civilation, only now-- decades later we are discovering this. Everything back then was made of Steel, wood, saw dust, pulp, metals, aluminum, ceramics, tin, rubber, twine, rope, ivory, Glass, bakelite, paper, waxed cardboard, slate, clay and of course asbestos was used readily-- unfortunately asbestos & Lead turned against mankind. We cannot also forget about fiberglass, it comes in many forms and I don't know enough about it, but it sort of bridged the gap between the evolution of plastic and the use of other more natural materials like those mentioned above. I can remember when toothpaste came in an aluminum squeeze tube instead of a plastic squeeze tube, also shampoo came in a heavy glass bottle, it was rare that the bottle broke if dropped, but occasionally it did break and there were cut toes and a big mess to pick up. Pillows were stuffed with birds feathers not Foam stuffings, though I remember when we switched from feathers to foam, my Mother at the time thought the Foam was a Luxury, many years later I recall her saying, she wished she never thrown out her feather stuffed pillows. When one went to the Dentist the filling that went in a cavity was Silver or Gold not Plastic. Cars for example used very little plastic in the beginning . Dashboards were formed & pressed steel, also bumpers were steel, seats were cloth materials or real leather. Rayon was introduced in the late 1930's and started to slowly be used in automotive uplolstery. But plastics in the automotive industry is probably the largest area I think that abuses plastics, but it's been in a slow and evolving fashion. Sitting next to the washer in the basement I've got like ten empty plastic liquid laundry soap containers with lids, sitting around ready for trash/recycling. Here's the thing, as a sixty year old I can remember when all Laundry detergent was in powder form and came in a cardboard carton!!! We didn't have all these plastic jugs left over. Furthermore, supposedly the manufacturers switched to liquid laundry detergent from powder because the powdered detergent was bad for the ocean, lakes, rivers and streams. So in reality, they switched away from powder yet they package the liquid soap in a plastic container that plastic container (millions & billions of those containers world wide not getting recycled for the last 20 years or more) is just as bad for the ecology or worse than the powdered detergent in cardboard boxes to begin with. The liquid laundry soap needs to be presented in a different container, no ifs ands or buts. Either put it in a foil liners or waxed cardboard container or develop an aluminum container for it. An aluminum container would be a win/win because all those that collect and recycle aluminum soda/beer cans could also now collect detergent jugs made of aluminum. It would also boost the manufacturers of Aluminum to get into the container business which would give us more manufacturing jobs. As to the jobs lost from the plastic Laundry detergent container business, they could switch over to aluminum container manufacturers. Unfortunately, I don't see this happening because the plastic container business is in bed with the the petroleum industry which will lobby in every way to protect the plastic container business.

Are the jagged little pieces of recycled micro plastic pieces similar to a barbed hook when they become lodged in organic tissue? Are recycled plastic microplastic fibers more inherently ionizing and or move in the atmosphere more readily with static disparities? Do recycled fiber microplastics cause a thinning of the enzymatic barriers between the blood, tissues, and organs? What are the options to contain the microplastic emission from home carpeting? What are the options to contain the microplastic release from home dryers? How much less dangerous are steam washer and dryers than the standard physical agitator washers and super heated dryers? What are the plastic fiber carpet manufacturers public statements on the use of recycled plastic and their danger to end users? Thank you

Regular information. Still starts at same plastic food parcel , containers. Humans totally depend on plastic use. Not with natural mud made products. And other non harmful products like banana branch products.
Shouldn't there be a lot more ED if microplastics caused ED? Correlation =/= causation. We should be seeing a lot more in younger people in their 20s and such since they've had as much time with all this plastic as anyone else basically since it really picked up in the 90s. Hell I worked in a plastic factory and don't have ED. Has to be more to that story. My guess is buzzword for research grants.
I just refill my plastic tea container with water over and over. It's perfect for the job-thick sturdy handle, wide mouth with screw on lid that completely seals even when upside down. It is also sturdier than the standard gallon milk jug, less flimsy, and easy to drink from. It holds 3.5 litres(?) amd is less than $4 with tea in it (a thermos style metal cup is more than that and it barely holds enough water for me for 30 minutes, let alone a day). Still waiting for a non-plastic alternative that matches all this.
There’s studies done on the impact of microplastics you can check out (although I doubt anyone will). Generally, the consensus is grim and why shouldn’t it be

Just told my roommate how stoked I was that Business Insider covered this 😂
We’re doomed
Im pretty sure our modern society can't be sustained without plastic. Almost any device with use, from computer, car, phone... have plastic part that cant be replaced by other material. Maybe we can do something with food and clothes by change our lifestyle.
there is plastic in electric switches, home appliances, buttons, washing powder, washing machines, stationery. if plastic was made from processing something that is found naturally then why isn't plastic biodegradable?
Thank God I don’t use microwaves or eat much takeout. I was my hand like crazy, dust and vacuum my home. But I do buy water regularly. So it’s much harder to get away from plastic than you think. It’s everywhere, and it’s not going anywhere. The future generations will be made of plastic.

Hopefully nano-technologies may soon be focused on removing these particles from our environment.
Guys this is normal, I have 13 different isotopes in my junk and Im healthy as ever
3:57 Quote “new and improved fabrics”
Are there any studies that have observed the microfiber shedding from virgin plastic fabric clothing vs (some %) recycled plastic content fabric? How much more jagged are the micro plastic pieces than the virgin plastic pieces. What effect so extremely jagged edged pieces of micro plastic have on the inflammation of organic tissue? Thank you
I worked several years in a PET bottle recycling plant. I bet I’m filled up with it. The dust and fibers off that stuff was everywhere!
Start doing a microplastic detox. Might not get it all out but you'll eliminate a lot of it.
Well this throughly freaked me out. Im moving to the woods asap
I love how they used glass mosaic instead of plastic.
Didn't they already upload this earlier today?
Didn't realize we can also breathe them in. Wow, the more i learn about microplastics, the worse it gets
I would be very happy to see a NEWS where the earth will be destroyed in the next 2 hours than see this kind of video which destroys my brain in every way possible.
She didn't say if it changes the taste?
Well this is depressing.
It seems like finally people with power will care a little bit more
I would be happy and more likely to shop somewhere or eat out at places that encouraged reusable items such as cups, mugs, bags like if stores said “we are done using plastic so u better bring your Tupperware, appropriate size cups/mugs bags or your S.O.L” I’d be like cool I’ll do that especially now that there’s no other option.
Woke up this morning to this…
Micro-plastics in our penises? Instead of morning wood, we'll soon have morning stiff plastic?
Exodus 23:25
Serve YHWH your God, and he will bless your bread, and your water, and take sickness away from you
Adult toys were never mentioned; we have been sticking those inside of us since our teenage years
Why? Cucumbers and bananas exist for a reason
“Holy polyester Batman!”😮
6 men 😂 what kind of science is this
That is not even a survey, little alone a sample.
A microscopic sample size and no control group... sensationalistic crap and shitty journalism
That why they call it "Business" and "Science" Insider. Pure clickbait garbage.
@@robertcgage snack sized survey?
@@robertcgage Do your *really* think that they would find no microplastics in men if they just tested more men? If so, LOL
BPA has already been linked to ED years ago. I threw out all my plastic cookware a long time ago. I also refuse to buy these modern clothes with stretch, I always wear natural fiber material like the most common 100% cotton.
Regular information. Still starts at same plastic food parcel , containers. Humans totally depend on plastic use. Not with natural mud made products. And other non harmful products like banana branch products.
Damn ! Also don’t forget about sex toys !!!! 😅
Condoms? Micro Latex in our penis ?
Women most affected! 😂😂😂
so we have plastic in our balls and now we have it in our weiner, at this point we might as well say we have it everywhere
So how much of this micro plastic is needed to give a little extra girth? (Asking for a friend)
TPTB are trying to 😵 some of us off to better control us.
Which of the 6 men tested were circumcised & uncircumcised?
it's not personal it's business
I just refill my plastic tea container with water over and over. It's perfect for the job-thick sturdy handle, wide mouth with screw on lid that completely seals even when upside down. It is also sturdier than the standard gallon milk jug, less flimsy, and easy to drink from. It holds 3.5 litres(?) amd is less than $4 with tea in it (a thermos style metal cup is more than that and it barely holds enough water for me for 30 minutes, let alone a day). Still waiting for a non-plastic alternative that matches all this.
Did she talk to experts on both sides? Ones with evidence that they’re bad, others with evidence that it’s overblown?
it IB bs...its just click bait
There’s studies done on the impact of microplastics you can check out (although I doubt anyone will). Generally, the consensus is grim and why shouldn’t it be
What we can do to avoid them: nothing
What we can do to not make the problem worse: end capitalism
What water bottle should I use then? Steel? Copper?
Stainless steel. Aluminum. Wood.
@@djplonghead5403 Thanks!
That seems worst than having many women. Stop wearing any - problem solved. And wear sporty clothes. Bad smell will be gone too, and you might save some extra money. Unless you have to ask your goverment, or wife to do so. 😅
But yeah Western "civilization", capitalism, corporations, and the American Way, right?? 👀
Go live in a 3rd world, non western, non capitalist country and see how much better you like it...😂 😂 😂
@@WishMFWOULD the point was, unconstructively, that typical US priorities encourage irresponsible consumption.
therefore, they say "we shouldnt put them on a pedestal".
that comment is not constructive because the degradation encompasses the good and bad while fixing plastics is in the details and involves too many things to place blame fairly.
Oh my god!!!!!!!!!! I quit everything related plastic
All of that What she said to not do would be for nothing if you continue chewing on plastic objects starting with the 🖊 Or a straw Maybe you're Disposable kitchen utensils could be the problem.
Wrinkle free and stain resistant cotton have thin coatings of plastic.
any pink soft rubber found ?
How about silicone dioxide as an anti-caking agent ( SiO2 ) in every spice etc
Silicon dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral. So no microplastics.
Wow well that's one way to get views.
"Plastic is infecting your penis"
Every man: wtf?
Video: 20 seconds mentioning micro plastics in your body, 15min lecture on plastic in general.
Very clever way to grab our attention!
You dont see this in tribes is only really in the western world
Sample size 6 men. Clicked off
So if you have it in ur body is it lethal in the long run?
If you let it accumulate, yes. Infertility, cancer, genetic disorders for your kids, learning disabilities, growth disabilities, you name it.
I'm just going to enjoy life and roll the dice , how does that sound 👍🏻😎
